The King's System

A King. A cultivator. A god. Three lives, one man. Watch as his glorious 4th life leads him to the apex! ------------------------------- "What are you doing?!" "Huh? I'm sleeping." "But this is your introduction!" "And what makes you think I care about something like that?" ------------------------------- Ahem. Watch as his gloriously "lazy" 4th life leads him to the top! ----------- My entry for Writing Prompt 32-a: System (Male Lead) Chapter length is around 1150 on average. ----------- P.S. the start of the novel is poking fun at generic reincarnation novels where the MC becomes a ruthless killer despite being a normal earthling. The annoying dialogue with the system is included in that. Also, first time writing so expect some less than good writing.

Troubles

[3rd Person POV]

"What the hell was that, Kuzzat?! I thought I told you to give him low quality Mithril!" (Sivod)

"A-And I did! I have no idea how he managed to make a sword like that!" (Kuzzat)

"In the first place, why was he even allowed to bring his own anvil and hammer?! Why would you set the rules to allow him to circumvent our rigging?" (Sivod)

"Oi! Even if I'm working with you, we craftsmen have our own pride! If I couldn't use my own hammer, then there's no way I'd even bother forging!" (Kuzzat)

"AAAAARGH! SO STUPID! LEAVE, NOW!" (Sivod)

Viscount Sivod swept everything off his desk, knocking up an immeasurable number of valuables and paperwork.

Still, he did not seem satisfied with his outbreak. He proceeded to rampage around his room, destroying everything he could get his hands on.

This lasted for about 5 minutes. After he calmed down a bit, he called his attendant.

"Tell him to get 'that' thing ready…" (Sivod)

[Daniel POV]

Surprisingly, we didn't face any major obstructions after leaving Erast. The three of us travelled in our bone carriage, and occasionally we would stop to get a breath of fresh air.

Breathing in the air that's circulated through bones is very disconcerting.

I don't want to put any windows up, since there could be any number of ranged weapons that can kill with one hit.

I also don't have any curtains, and bones can't be turned into them either.

Therefore, the bone carriage is more like an enclosed space that moves.

Suddenly, one of my King's Guards is on high alert. They can't communicate with me, so the best they can do is get ready for combat. I gave them the order to protect the carriage after all.

"Something's happening outside. Stay inside, alright?" (Daniel)

"Nya!" (Catherine)

"Un." (Arin)

Having secured Catherine's and Arin's agreement, I step outside of the carriage.

The sight that greeted me was a giant. A literal giant. The only thing is that it's made of multiple bodies. Human bodies.

I guess that Sivod had a connection with a Necromancer. Too bad, he doesn't know I'm also one.

"What do you want?" (Daniel)

"Are you called Daniel?" (???)

"Don't you know that you're supposed to say your name first before asking?" (Daniel)

"Fufufu. That's funny. Why would I need to say anything to someone who's about to die?" (???)

"If you say so…" (Daniel)

I hate it when people say that. I've said it once before, but that's only because I was in a disguise. These guys simply do it because they believe they're superior!

'Ed, appraise that abomination.' (Daniel)

'Roger!' (Ed)

[Corpse Giant (Uncommon): A giant made of different human corpses. Slow and cumbersome.

Level: 100]

Pfft! It's only level 100, and it's slow and cumbersome. I bet my King's Guard could make short work of it.

However, I want to experiment with something.

"Hahahaha! Your corpse will make a fine addition to my collection when you die!" (???)

The Necromancer seems to be enraged, because I didn't respond the way he wanted me to.

Also, why does he sound like a certain robot with four arms?

Ignoring him, I start casting my Fire Magic, which has become max level.

However, what appears is not the normal blazing red that a fire would have. No, it was a blue fire. I'd integrated certain parts of Ice Magic into it, turning into a fire that burns while it freezes.

Kind of like an ice burn, but much more volatile.

I designed this new magic because undead are vulnerable to fire. If the fire element in this can target the vulnerability of the undead, then I can 'burn' them without reducing them to ashes.

I can then simply thaw them out of the ice that they get turned into and recycle their bodies or bones.

After all, bodies aren't a renewable resource. In fact, it was the constraints of mana that gave me the idea. If the bodies of things are reused, then I wouldn't need to summon new bones every time. The mana cost would be reduced, and I am saving the planet from global death.

Anyway, let's get into the fight.

The blue fireball in my hand is slightly hovering, and I throw it at the Corpse Giant like a baseball.

The Necromancer probably didn't see it as a threat, since he didn't even move the Giant at all.

However, that complacency would be his downfall. The blue fire, which I'm dubbing as Ice Fire, spread quickly across the Giant, rendering his movements clunky. Until eventually, the entire body was frozen solid.

The Necromancer reacted rather quickly, jumping off as soon as he saw the spreading ice.

Hehe, I hope this has given him a good fright. He'll be more willing to answer my questions if that's the case.

"So, who sent you?" (Daniel)

"Hiiiiiiii! L-Lord Sivod did!" (???)

"See, that wasn't so hard? What's your name?" (Daniel)

"M-My name? I-It's Kerda." (Kerda)

"Kerda? What a weird name. Where did you learn Necromancy?" (Daniel)

"F-From the Dark Guild." (Kerda)

"And what's the Dark Guild?" (Daniel)

"I-I can't say." (Kerda)

"Hoh… which do you prefer? Being burnt to oblivion, or frozen until you reach the nether?" (Daniel)

"P-Please! They'll do much worse if I tell you!" (Kerda)

"I don't care. Now tell me! Before I turn you into a ghoul." (Daniel)

"A-Alright! They oppose the Chu –" (Kerda)

He didn't get the chance to finish talking. His body was swallowed by a darkness that creeped up his arm, and then disappeared without a trace.

Tsk. This has gotten really troublesome. I never expected Sivod to have connections with something like this.

From his last sentence, it seems like they fight against the Church. If that's the case, then they should be accepting of me as a Necromancer, right? So why did Kerda choose to attack me? Unless… he wasn't aware of my identity as one.

If that's the case, should I willingly reveal my Necromancy to the Dark Guild? How can I even guarantee that they won't betray me?

Then again, just because they oppose the Church doesn't mean that they are all Necromancers. After all, Necromancy is such an overpowered magic. Conscripting and training armies? No need. Need reinforcements? Just use the enemy's dead bodies! Running low on food? Your troops don't need any!

If Necromancers were allowed to develop, then nothing would be able to stop them. Since the Dark Guild hasn't taken over the world yet, I'm assuming that they don't have too many Necromancers, or the ones that they do have aren't fully developed yet.

At least, not to the point of being able to create Elder Liches like me.

If that really is the case, then I probably don't have much to worry about. The only thing that troubles me is how capable their non-necromancers are. If they are extremely high levelled, then I doubt I could even scratch them, much less protect Catherine and Arin.

Kind of a bad chapter.

Anyway, probably the last chapter of the day.

Thanks for reading!
