Weak Body Strong Mind

Just before leaving the gym, I met up with Hoopa and Olympia one last time.

"Remember to take care of yourself, you work too hard sometimes." Olympia said with a warm smile.

"And remember to come and visit! Once you get your pokemon and get some practice in you have no excuse to not come to challenge us! And you can bet that I will be joining the fight! I haven't had a chance to stretch my muscles in a long time" Hoopa said as they began flexing.

I let out a laugh before saying.

"I am sorry, but when I come to challenge both of you I am going to make sure to kick your asses."I said with a confident smile.

At my words, Olympia held her head before exclaiming.

"I am having a vision! It's about you Lucas!"

Both Hoopa and I became dead quiet, and after a moment of suspense, Olympia said.

"It's you… And you are on the floor… Someone is dragging you… Oh wait, that's us. Because we will wipe the floor with you."

In an unusual show of humor, Olympia made a joke. Her loud laughter rang through her office. Returning to her kind smile she added.

"Don't think just because you are my favorite student that I will go easy on you. If anything, I am going to test you to your limits."

Nodding my head I gave them a parting hug before meeting up with my mother. She had come to visit me a few times during my stay at the school and during my birthday, but it had been some time since I had last seen her. It seems getting back to work had been great for her, she looked rejuvenated and full of energy.

I was happy to see her like this, she had spent so long taking care of me that I wanted her to be happy too. In fact, I decided to fuel her happiness with one simple question.

"Mom, when I get my first pokemon, can you give me some tips on how to become a pokemon coordinator? I want to try to join contests in the future in between gym challenges."

I could see stars in her eyes as she spun me around with excitement.

"Absolutely! I really thought you would never ask! It is so fun, you are gonna love it!"

On the whole way home she continued to share all of her tips and lessons she had learned across her career. I had never seen her get this excited about anything, so I made a mental promise to her to try to win a contest tournament. It felt like it would be a long way away, but I had to add another goal to my list.

It felt like every time I returned home after being away for a long time I would be hit with a strong wave of exhaustion. And this time it was the same. Especially since there was a major miscalculation in my plan to train in Veilstone's gym.

I hadn't really put much thought into it, but throughout my whole life, I had been majorly relying on my psychic powers to do most strenuous activities. Back in the summer camp I always flew from place to place instead of running. Back during the school, I mostly teleported around and only really walked the halls to and from class. If I ever needed to lift something heavy I would just use my telekinesis.

Long story short, I was quite weak physically. The consequence of abusing my psychic powers.

"To be fair, I am only 11 years old…" I muttered to myself, knowing full well that it was just an excuse.

Turning to my mother's Glameow I said.

"If I don't start working out now I am going to end up like your evolution."

Those words ended up with my face getting a scratch.

Standing up I took a deep breath before doing some light stretches.

"100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10K run every day."

It was stupid, it was cliche, it wasn't creative. But it was a start, a goal. If it had worked for Saitama, it would work for me. At least until I felt I was fit enough to join the self-defense classes Veilstone gym offered.

It would suck if he joined the gym but had to be held back because he needed to catch up physically to the rest of the class.

Putting on a pair of running shoes I turned to my mother's Glameow that was sitting in the window sill basking in the warmth that came from the sun.

"Do you wanna come with me?"

Glameow stretched her legs before hopping off the window and following me to the door.

A month later I collapsed on the grass next to Lake Verity. I had added swimming to my workouts and I was utterly exhausted. Who knows where Mesprit was, as I had checked the cave in the middle of the lake only to find it empty. I layed in the grass long enough for a small Bidoof to come and look at me with a concerned expression.

"Don't worry little one, this is my divine punishment." I said in a dramatic manner before the Bidoof scurried away uninterested.

I gotta admit, the nice thing about being a psychic and fairy type was that I didn't really have to worry about wild pokemon. Most of them were quite reasonable if you communicated with them. You just have to make sure not to piss them off by doing something stupid and you can wander around without any real problem. Of course, this mainly worked if the pokemon wasn't pissed to begin with.

My muscles ached. From what I heard my body was supposed to eventually adapt until I no longer felt sore, but the internet must be full of crap.

Sitting up I looked at the lake, before releasing a sigh.

If I was going to be resting my body I should at least keep working on my mind.

Closing my eyes I released my clairvoyance to its full potential.I knew Mesprit was here, or at least they were supposed to be.

If I could find them before Cyrus I could give myself a huge advantage in the future. I might even be able to severely delay or stop their plans completely. Judging by how often I hear about different teams in the news I had the bad feeling that some of their plans would be happening at the same time. This meant I would have to split my attention, which could lead to me letting things slip. I wanted to trust Serena and Ash to deal with team Flare and team Rocket, but this world wasn't as friendly as the one I had seen and played. If you lost a battle against them it could mean your death or worse.

Why did there have to be so many evil organizations that could eventually lead to the major destruction of the world if not stopped? Honestly, the world would be a better place if we had more team Skulls in the world. Those people just wanted to graffiti, steal bus stops, and live the thug life, yo.

My thoughts were interrupted as I felt someone watching me. I couldn't feel them through my clairvoyance, but I instinctually recognized the feeling of being observed.

"Hello?" I asked out loud. But no one answered. In fact, all the pokemon in the area had grown quiet.

"Mesprit?"

I was greeted with silence once again. The sun was beginning to set giving the lake a slightly ominous appearance.

Screw it, this place was giving me the creeps.

Standing up I gave a couple of small warm-up jumps before jogging away. Not noticing the small golden pair of eyes watching me from underneath the lake with a trace of curiosity

Exercise, practice my psionics, work at the pokemon center, and study. A simple yet slightly boring routine.

I would soon join the classes offered by Veilstone gym, and I was anxiously awaiting the change of pace. By now, I was at an above-average level of fitness for someone my age. The biggest change I noticed other than my actual strength and endurance was how hungry I got. Oh, how I missed the days I could sustain my body with the lowest amount of nourishment.

Right now I was in the middle of working with Nurse Joy.

"Alright, just make sure to get rest for today and tomorrow you should be back to full health."

The pokemon trainer gave me a thankful nod before leaving.

"You seem to be getting pretty good at this. Are you sure you don't want to join us full-time once you are an adult?"Nurse Joy asked with a smile.

I shook my head.

"I already told you the answer, Joy. I have other plans for the future, but I will continue to help out when I can."

Nurse Joy made a fake sad expression with puppy eyes before shaking her head while giggling.

"I always forget that it doesn't work with you. It's not fair that you are immune to my family's strongest technique. How's my poor niece supposed to be able to steal your heart when the one move we can always rely on doesn't work."

Nurse Joy had been trying to set me up with her niece since the moment I started working with her. But I had already told her that I wasn't interested in someone playing matchmaker with me. Especially when taking my age into consideration.

It was around this time that Joy's Chansey walked in holding a big plate of food. For the past few months, Joy had been paying me with delicious food for my assistance. Food that was surprisingly nutritious.

Seeing my expression as I looked at the food, Joy had a look of realization before she gave a quiet yet somewhat evil laugh.

"Stop being creepy" I said to her before turning to Chansey

After thanking her for the food and starting to eat, I said. "Chansey, you have to teach me how to cook one of these days."

Chansey simply gave a proud smile before nodding her head.

Man, I was gonna miss her food when I went to Veilstone city.

~Author's note~

I was able to hire a great lawyer with all of the power stones. But apparently, there was video evidence of "me" committing the alleged burglary. Send me some power stones so that I can bribe the judge!

(If we somehow manage to get to rank 10, I will upload 2 extra chapters over the weekend. So, a double release on both Saturday and Sunday. I really appreciate all of the support!)

The title for the next chapter will be "Fight me, I dare you." So look forward to it!
