CHAPTER SIX - PREGNANT!

Staring blankly at the sheet of paper scattered on the lab table makes Eden's head want to explode. Her studies and job make her feel exhausted and tired most of the time. Because she is so glued to her work, she doesn't have time for herself or even takes some of her holiday days to visit her parent's homes. Not to mention the threat from the rouges lately, also troubled her a lot. She gently rubbed a small circle over her temple to ease the rising headache. She want to brush off her tiredness by lingering around the lab foyer for a moment to lessen her headache but it would be like the headache was inevitable.

She hopes she was at her own home so she can enjoy her personal space and turn it into her aromatherapy oasis. The smell of all the chemicals and other potions inside the lab not only overwhelmed her nose but also increased her headache and she felt nauseous sometimes—when she works overtime in the lab doing some of her odd jobs there. She wants to leave out from work early today and go home.

She doesn't have any class to attend today but instead of sitting at home doing nothing she comes to the lab and starts to make some aromatherapy potion. She also uses a lot of essential oil to create a warm and calm aromatherapy oil to help people who had a problem sleeping at night. The special aromatic scent comes from a lot of combinations such as clove, rosemary, nutmeg, ylang— ylang, bergamot, lavender and other botanical ingredients, which are good for human stress and anxiety.

"Hurm... wish I can mix everything without even worrying about the smell of the scent!" she whispered, smoothing her long wavy brunette with one hand and holding her forehead with the other. Looking at her wristwatch, it's still early— it's not even close to 11:00 am and yet she is already bored to the core.

She needs to go out of the lab now. Maybe she can go to the cafeteria to grab lunch before going to the supermarket to do some groceries and then go back home and work on the old transcription back again. Her life is boring and every day is the same without any speciality. As the paper rustled when she try to tidy up the table, suddenly her phone vibrated and Hailey's name is appear on her phone screen. Glancing at the screen for a while, Eden immediately has a bad feeling.

'Is Hailey getting drunk again? For the love of god! Why does she always make trouble for herself? And it is still early in the morning...god, Hail!' Eden picks up her phone and answers her sister's call.

"Hello..." just after Eden said that Hailey abruptly cut her and said with a panicked voice that she want to meet Eden as soon as possible as it was really important to her.

"We need to talk! Is important..." Hailey said with a hasty voice making Eden lose words. Eden's brows scowl.

"I'm about to go home now... so I'll see you there" Hailey cut her off again. Eden let out a silent sigh and bit her lips with frustration. Her sister sometimes makes her go on her nerves.

"No! Meet me at the cafeteria. I want to see you right now!" said Hailey before ending the call and leaving Eden to blink blankly at her phone. 'What is happening with her? Why can't she wait at home? Is it not like my apartment is 500 miles away? I hope she doesn't do something crazy this time' Eden talks to herself while her hand busied tidying the table back again. After scanning the table and confirming she left nothing on it, Eden walked towards the door.

Feeling heavy in her heart, Eden walkout from the lab with thousand thoughts of Hailey. Finally, she can breathe fresh air. Walking along the long corridor hall towards the cafeteria she throws her gaze to the sky. The trees start dancing and rattling when the wind blows hard. Look like it's going to rain soon. She walked the hallway to the cafeteria, where she sees her sister, Hailey sitting there with her troubled face. She heads to the counter first, ordering herself a cup of coffee before paying for her drinks and walking towards her sister who sitting near the big window wall where they can see people walking outside.

"What is it?" Eden asked as she pulled his chair to sit facing her sister Hailey, who didn't look drunk. She looks sane and sober. So why did Hailey suddenly want to meet Eden in the cafeteria? What is so important that she cannot find her at home alone?

Eden looks around the cafeteria which was a bit quiet than it usual. As she looked around, Hailey sighed loudly. Her face looked confused and her hand also seemed to tremble.

"What is it?" Eden began to lose her patience. The more Hailey remained silent like that the more anxious Eden was heartfelt. Her heart began to beat fast.

Hailey looked to her left and right first before starting her talk with a gloomy face. Just a few days ago, she looked cheerful and lively and said that she could not wait to go back to BlueWood to celebrate the full moon celebration this year together with their family— and also with other packs joining the festival this year which will be held on a large scale and merry. This is because the moon has fulfilled its complete rotation for 12 years.

And the full moon celebration this time will bring good news to the whole clans of the supernatural world. The heirs who are still unmated this year— their waiting will be granted the presence of a mate they have been waiting for. According to the prophecy, a soul bearer will appear and give them their mate on the very first night of the full moon celebration by doing some of the ancient ritual practices involving the supreme clans in the supernatural world.

"You have to promise me first..." said Hailey with her serious tone. 'Promise; is it really important for me to promise?'

"While you are the one who has the problem and not me!" said Eden in a tone of disbelief.

"What I am about to say is very important!" Hailey said slower before resuming her speech with a whole wrinkle on her forehead. "It is important because it involves my reputation as a Silver Crescent warrior. And also it involves the dignity of our family as a Beta..." said Hailey again. Eden was getting more restless to hear her sister's words.

'If it will affect their family reputation, why does Hailey still do it?' Eden is quite knowledgeable with their parents, who are fully concerned about family ties and their dignity as Beta among their pack members. Their family are flattered by the Silver Crescent pack as the perfect family. Eden herself received a full scholarship to further her studies at CU from Blake Multimedia Company —owned by their Alpha, who happens to be the king of the Werewolves clans.

"Well, I promise I will not talk to anyone about this! So what is it that is so important?" Eden said while breathing deeply. Whether she wants to or not she has to agree if she wants to know what is very important that Hailey need to keep secret from them as a family.

Hailey seemed to take a deep breath. She swallowed her saliva before starting her speech with a guilty face. "I'm pregnant!" Eden stiffened in her seat. She did not hear wrong, is she?

"What? Pregnant! How? When...? I mean who is the father?" said Eden repeatedly.

She feels anxious and panicked to hear her sister's confession. If Jacob and their parents know about this, for sure their storyline will end there. Their parents never forbade them to make friends and have fun as long as they know how to take care of themselves. Things like this would not be a problem if the perpetrator was a werewolf's man as well. If human, is sure Hailey's child will get a lot of suspicions as long as he grows up?

"Is that your reaction, Eden?! I want you to know about this because you are my sister. And this is your reaction, really?" said Hailey cynically when she saw no reaction from Eden who was still in a state of shock— to hear the news of Hailey which can be likened to a bomb!

Eden smiled back cynically at her sister's words as if to say she was heartless. "After all the stunts you pull, you want me to scream happily and dance? Wasn't it you want to keep it as a secret just between the two of us, Hailey?" said Eden in a sarcastic tone. Hailey was silent in a thousand languages. Eden took a deep breath before asking further about Hailey's next plan.

"After this... what are you going to do with your pregnancy? It will grow from day to day. And as a she-wolf, you know the time of the pregnancy is different from humans. Five months from now she or he will be born..."

"I will go to abortion and get rid of it!" said Hailey cutting Eden's words before she even finished them. And once again, Eden is shocked by her sister's drastic action.

"No! You can't abort your child, Hail! Your child is innocent. He or she needs to live with you... with us, like family!" Hailey bit her lip. Her face looked flushed red.

"I will abort it, Eden! It's not yet a fetus... I will not pawn my future on this child!"

"So that's why you chose to kill it? Is that so, Hail?!" Eden replied angrily. She couldn't believe her ears. Her sister is indeed a selfish person.

"I will find my mate at this full moon celebration! I will not forgive you if this matter is known by anyone later, Eden!" Hailey said trying to threaten Eden. Is it not Eden a fault? Hailey turned out to have lost her self—esteem.

"Please, don't kill it, Hail... I'm sure mom and dad can accept your child well" Eden said gently still trying to persuade Hailey so she could change her mind.

"No! As I said earlier... I will find my mate this time. The child cannot exist if I want to meet my mate, Eden. Like it or not, I will still abort it!" said Hailey in a harsh and loud tone before leaving —Eden dead heartbroken, and guilty in the cafeteria alone.

The rain finally falls. Eden is still alone in the cafeteria, unmoved since her sister Hailey left about thirty minutes ago. Her head is ready to explode right now. Eden puts her hoodie cap on her head and tries to cover her face with it. She wants to cry out loud. Her heart is feeling hurt and numb. Her sister had changed a lot. Hailey is so proud of herself for doing the wrong things with pleasure without thinking about the consequences later. Look what she got herself into. Why can't she be more considerate of her pups? That thing, she wants to get rid of is having souls!

Eden stands up from her seat and walks out of the cafeteria with a swollen heart and sullen face. She wishes she could change her sister's mind and save the unborn pups. At least they still have a heart and are different from the Rouges. Even the Rouges will not dare to kill their pups! Hailey is a pack member of Silver Crescent, yet she has the heart to get rid of that precious soul inside her without feeling shameful. Eden walks under the rain without even bothering to go to her locker for an umbrella. The rain felt like icy water and Eden felt like a thousand needles slamming into her skin like she was pushed into a half-frozen lake.

Eden grunted when someone bump into her and make her fall on her buttocks. She ignored the person and stood up before she walks away emotionless. Her breathing becomes heavy as she now drenches from head to toe from the heavy rain. She swallowed her saliva when she approaches her apartment building with wet clothes and shoes. She hugs herself as she begins to shiver and her hand starts to tremble because of the cold. She needs to change her clothes fast before she gets sick. A nice warm bath with some aromatherapy oils can uplift her mood in a moment like this. She will reward herself with a cup of hot chocolates.

Eden put herself inside the bathtub and close her eye tight, inhaling the aromatherapy scents that she had just poured into the warm bath and letting the sound of the thunder and rain become the music to soothe her broken heart.
