THE INEVITABLE HIM

A one night stand with a White waitress in a club was all it took to make him. He had no father but an owner he had. He owned him..turned him into the demon he is now. At the age of eight, he killed the humanity and love he had. "To make you strange and a worthy successor. I don't need any weakling." Akim always roared at him. The day he died the Devil got a free ticket to leave South Africa for good. Revenge from their rival Mafia gang was not in his plans. He wouldn't shed the blood of his people. He needed the for something better. To build a legitimate global empire. He worked his ass of to be a better version than Akim had in mind. He would own it all, by any means necessary. The world wasn't fair so don't blame him if he stumbled on you in the course of fulfilling his plans. You needed to keep up to be able to work for or with him. He had a family, though not perfect, the gang always had his back and so did he. At the age of twenty -six, Lucifer as he was popularly known by his close men was the most eligible bachelor, and the youngest richest business man in the country and beyond. He said it and he did it yet, there was always something else to do. Something better. He might be crazy for wanting to conquer the world, but that was his plan. Lucifer was never the type to run, he never backed down....and though a tiny part of him wanted to, he couldn't. His demons were part of him. He was his own devil. The part of him which thrilled at the site of violence and smiled at the pains and fear in the eyes of others strived and dominated his soul. He wanted out but who was he kidding, his demons were his source of power. Power, which sucks humanity out of him. Lucifer had made his name in the Europeans countries, but he felt that there would be much profit and a fulfilling tap into the culture of Africa which would in no doubt be a jackpot for him. He was a business man and so knew his fact. Africa....he dreaded and loved. He was sure of his target..where else but Ghana..a foreign environment. He was yet to find out that Ghana would give him the encounter of his life.... Kara, popularly called Nana is the "unwanted" bastard of the Agyemang family. Her mother Esther got pregnant with her white boyfriend during her college years overseas. Her mother came home with a baggage instead of the promised degrees. Being the daughter of a strict African home, ones thought would be to disappear for good and bear the shame alone. The family frowned upon her actions, turned their backs on her and was disowned by her father. Single handedly, with help from her uncle, her mother raised her to become a typical Ghanaian child. Even with her fair skin and brunette hair...she was in no doubt a Ghanaian by actions. Many often got confused yet her calm nature and respect for every custom of the society irrespective of it's flaws made her Ghanaian. Kara lived her life like a story being told. She drew her plans from the moment Uncle Kwesi sat her down and told her of the story behind her birth and why she didn't have a father or a large family. She knew who her father was. At least she had a picture of him, a picture shut away. She was satisfied with having her mom and uncle in her life. They enough for her, she convinced herself. Nana's greatest fear is repeating her mother's mistake...Don't get her wrong, she respected her mom immensely, she was by far the strongest woman she had ever know. That didn't change the fact that she would like to write some of her wrongs. Nor did it change the feeling which ate her up all the time...She was an accident and that was something that even she couldn't make right. Being the child of a single mother in a Ghanaian society, there was a lot to do and not do. No matter the amount of wealth, the society would always see you as the daughter of the unmarried woman and hence, you are required to put in much effort to everything you do. Kara wanted her mom to know n feel that her birth was her biggest achievement

CHAPTER 16: Black and White Souls ... Pt 4

Lucifer asked his stunned and nervous assistant in the most polite tone he could ever use on someone. Kara gently nodded. She was amazed at how smitten she was by his voice. It was soothing, music to her ears. She stepped aside for her boss to enter. She had a silly thought "maybe he isn't my boss". She shook her head vigorously and followed the man who had already settled comfortably in the couch with his long legs crossed and relaxed.

"Adriel Oralnos. Nice to finally meet you Miss Kara Nana Agyemang." Lucifer spoke starring at her without blinking.

"Wrong, he's your Boss". Kara mumbled to herself. That's correct. Have a seat Nana. " Lucifer spoke extending his hand for her to sit adjacent yo him. Kara wondered how sharp his ears were. She quickly sat adjacent to him. Her hands were folded on her thighs. She tried her best not to keep I contact with him. However she failed as she ended up stating at her boss. She had a lot of emotions going wild in her. He looked like a total disciplinarian. He had broad shoulders. One could see that he had lot of muscles, something that his shirt couldn't conceal. He had a sharp jaw, his eyes piercing yet beautiful and very drawn to. His black hair was mess in a very sophisticating way.

He was a man of power no doubt but that scared the shit out of her as the memory she prays she never relieves came back rushing to her. She was sure she had seen her boss before. Funnily she felt that they had met more than once. She just couldn't grasp when and where.

"Why are you staring?" Lucifer asked, with his eyes fixated on his phone. "I'm sorry Sir". She quickly apologised. "Don't be. I don't have any problem with you starng". He place his phone on the small table which was within his reach. "You will be doing that a lot tonight. But stare only at me and the people in the files in received. Stay in my reach. Don't be pushed over by other ladies. Keep them from me. That's your job. Lastly, look beautiful". He paused and took a careful look at her. "I don't have to worry about that". He flatly added brushing the fact that he just complimented her.

Kara just listened to her Boss still amazed by his precision. "Be vigilant and observant. Do you have anything to ask?" His question caught Kara off guard. She quickly recovered and nodded. Lucifer nodded gesturing that she had his attention.

"Who is going to observe me and look out for me?" She asked in a small voice. "Do you have a problem with your voice.?" Lucifer asked flatly, keeping his dry humour in check. Kara was sure that she had heard his voice before and the question sounded very familiar. "No Sir". Kara replied in a much steady voice. "I will be responsible for you. Until you don't work for REFICUL anymore. Anything else?" Kara was tempted to asked. She could just pretend that everything was okay though and do as she is told. She thought. After a few seconds of silence, she decided to free her mind and ask him. She couldn't stand working in fear.

" Did they die... Sir? " She asked and studied his reaction but she got nothing. The man didn't even flinch. He unbuttoned his suit and settled in a much more relaxing position. "Remind me of the 'they' you are talking about". Lucifer knew exactly what she was talking about. He wanted her to not forget a single thing of that night. "That night, some men tried to kidnap me. But there was a shoot out...and I think you were there..." Kara couldn't even believe that she was somehow accusing her boss of murder on their first meeting.

"They died. I wasn't planning on leaving them alive. It had nothing to do with you. You were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. And your slaps landed on the wrong faces." He gave a short giggle. "Try not to do that often. There are a few people I can't kill and I can't always be at the right places. Got that?". Kara nodded, still battling with processing everything. The man was talking about killing people as if he was making his order in a restaurant. What she found unbelievable was how she was feeling. Gosh, she was just thankful for her life. She was just glad that her boss saved her. Lucifer grabbed his phone and stood up.

"Shall we leave?" He asked. Kara picked up her purse and stood up. She followed her boss to the door. "One more thing." He cautioned. You are going to be in the press. Do you know what thag means" Heasked. "Yes Sir, but please, can you make sure that they specify that I'm working for you and that I'm and intern? I'm in my final year and I wouldn't want any drama." Lucifer and nodded. He mumbled however making sure that Kara would hear. "I see..Intern"..

He smiled and gestured for her to hold on to his arm. "Be comfortable". Kara gazed at him surprised.....
