Chapter 4

Ling Fei's ears rang, and her eyes squinted as she stepped out onto the sidewalk of the bustling hospital entrance. She fluttered her eyes to adjust to the light and shook her head to get rid of the ringing in her ears.

Afraid that her family would notice something amiss, Ling Fei decided to call a taxi back to her dorm. Refusing to face the reality of her situation, Ling Fei spent the last two weeks hiding in the dorms and studying Chinese history and literature.

Despite being stuck in a foreign body, Ling Fei felt confident that she could do the original owner justice in the exams. She breezed through the college entrance exams and went to the antique street to hunt for undiscovered treasures. Upon entering the street, she bounced upon the arrogant jerk that took her life for granted. She glared fiercely at the six-foot four man who looked timid and scared as his beautiful brown eyes became teary.

The man looked like a lost child at a crowded fair searching for their mommy. The sight of the once strong, stone-cold man become a giant child stirred something in her. She walked forward, grabbed his hands, and dragged him out of the crowded street and into a cafe. She frowned as she stared up and down at the man's chiseled face and flexed muscles and looked into his now clear eyes. Upset by the man's amused face, Ling Fei turned to leave.

A heavy, meaty, warm weight appeared on her shoulders when she turned to leave. She was pulled into the man's comforting embrace from behind and he whispered in her ear "Thank you." Her cheeks became flaming red, and her heartbeat quickened. Her palms became clammy, and her toes curled at the sound of his raspy voice.

Ling Fei shrugged off the man's hands and stomped towards the market with a slight pink hue on her cheeks.
