The Hybrid (blessed or cursed)-- Chapter 10--- Stuck in the middle ---

A few minutes ago

After unveiling, Minos was shocked that he recognized none of the items given to him as food. Minos decided to keep them in case they were something harmful to his body, since he didn't have the system to scan the food composition for him and he couldn't activate anything without the system's help.

Why am I so dependent on the system? Minos asked himself after a long review on how he had been ever since he got the system.

He got up and thought of how to be sure if the food was safe to consume as he was really starving. Leaving the food in the hut, he decided to go pluck fruits that way he could control his hunger. He found a tree very close to the hut, it actually seemed like the tree was holding the hut in place. Looking at the tree, Minos spotted some ripe fruits and without much thought, he leaped from the ground to the highest branch in an instant. Clinging on the branch was Minos with a shocked expression as he had just leaped over 7ft into the air.

Did that mean I unconsciously controlled ki from the source to my legs? Minos thought aloud as truthfully his mind hadn't gone off the ki origin and control stuff.

At the top of the tree, Minos found two things weird. The first one was the fruits weren't normal as the ones on earth. This particular tree's fruits looked like apples but tasted like mango juice mixed with apple juice. The second was that he saw a bird that looked like an eaglet at first but later changed its shape to that of a huge reptile with wings immediately it sensed Minos.

After eating the weird fruit to his heart's content, he had an idea to check if the food he was given to eat was safe or not. Jumping down from the tree, he dashed inside the hut, took the food and climbed back up the tree. He tried to jump but he couldn't even jump as high as a basketball player performing a dunk shot.

He captured the eagle-shaped shapeshifting bird and began feeding it the food. After the bowl of food became empty, light chains began to form on the skin of the bird though it seemed it wasn't strong enough. Minos was sure that after 3 or 4 meals the chains would be fully formed. Looking at the bird, he noticed that half of the bird's body seemed to start catching on fire as more chains formed on its body. After a while, half of the bird's body became ash and flew directly into the temple area of Minos, where it entered Minos' body, came out after a few seconds but this time not as ash but as black flames which seemed to repair the body of the flaming bird, quenching the flame and returning it to its original form. After the experiment, Minos concluded that the food contained the sealing spell "Chains of Psylocke" and an additional love kind of spell as the bird refused to leave his sight no matter how many times it was chased away. Well, at least that was his hypothesis, Minos said before he sighted the young lady who claimed to have saved his life coming out of his hut with a face of panic. Guessing she was looking for him, he decided to go down.

Gathering the bowl of food which was now empty, he jumped down from the tree, meeting her on the ground and handing the bowl to her. She took the bowl, revealing a smile which for a moment stunned Minos.

Seeing her leaving, Minos muttered, "If she wasn't the enemy, I swear I would have forced her into an engagement with me. How can someone be so beautiful? And her dimples, oh my goodness." He was still reminiscing the smile.

Entering his hut, he sat down in a crossed-leg position, about to try meditation to check if it would work in helping him access ki. Immediately he closed his eyes, he heard a chirp. He opened his eyes sharply to see the weird bird on his lap.

So I was right after all, the food really contained a kind of love spell, but who are they trying to bind me with? If it's the pretty lady, they would have just asked me rather than go through the stress of trying to drug me. Minos sighed, starting his meditation immediately.

Minos tried to meditate for 30 minutes but achieved nothing. Opening his eyes, he saw the bird on his lap but it seemed to be on fire again. But this time, instead of half of its body, the fire covered its whole body and it immediately disintegrated and turned into smoke before moving into Minos's body.

Chirp chirp Find me. This was the voice Minos heard from his consciousness after the bird turned to smoke.

Trying to ignore it, Minos tried standing up but that made the voice faster, louder and more aggressive.

Moving back to the cross-legged position, the voice became calmer.

Minos did this for a while and got the same results.

He immediately started to meditate but this time he saw little traces of ash. Following the flow, he saw the little bird floating around a powerful light which seemed to want to suck his consciousness in. No one needed to tell Minos that he found the location of the ki which was in his forehead and he also realized that this little bird just became part of him.

After finding the location of the ki, Minos tried to circulate it but it seemed impossible as the ki seemed to have a mind of its own. After trying non-stop for 3 hours, he managed to control just 2% of his ki. If he tried to control more than that, the ki would suck his consciousness, causing him to stop his meditation as the shock of his consciousness being sucked was accompanied with a subtle pain and great discomfort.

After a while, Minos stopped meditating only to see her looking intently at him with her face very close to his.

A lewd thought immediately entered his mind and he moved his face forward in lightning speed, causing his lips to smash into hers.

This contact lasted for a second as the girl was fast to disengage. She glared at Minos with hatred and disgust clearly shown on her face and she started to slap Minos over and over and over again.

Minos was not bothered by the slap. He thought, "Man, you can kill me but I just fulfilled my dream of kissing a goddess." That was his thought at least before he saw tears coming out of her eyes.

"I'm sorry," Minos immediately bowed his head. Seeing her cry was one thing but being the cause was another thing altogether.

Minos tried to calm her down, but she hurriedly pushed him down and ran outside. After a while, she returned with two hefty bodyguards, each holding a long sword. They immediately pounced on Minos who had already decided to accept this as his punishment.

Thirty minutes had passed and the beating was still going on. Minos had actually lost consciousness 8 times but every time he did, they revived him with water and continued pouncing on him.

Sensing that they wouldn't be stopping anytime soon, Minos lost it and immediately channeled his ki throughout his body, pushing the bodyguards away in an instant.

Minos forced himself to stand up as his limbs had already lost life. Staggering, he dragged his bruised body up and faced the girl. "I think I've suffered enough. When y'all are ready to leave, there's the door." Minos said, pointing towards the entrance.

The two bodyguards, after recovering from the push, rushed towards Minos in order to knock him out and regain their face.

But before they could land a hit, Minos forcefully channeled 30% of his ki to his limbs and bam! The sound resonated throughout the village.

Minos just knocked out the two bodyguards in one strike.

"Wow! I did it. I controlled 30%." Minos said, trying hard not to lose consciousness.
