Maia sucked in her breath. She didn't want to be seen in this position, but Kai was just too good she kept longing for more.
"Oh my god Kai I want you so bad", she exclaimed.
Kai wore loose khakis, revealing his aching length. Maia proceeded to caress it.
Kai groaned.
"And…as I was saying…we are not animals…we decide everything…with a council of elders", Kai spoke in between moments of stealing Maia's lips with a kiss.
"But I thought…you were the leader".
"Yes I am." Kai spoke. "But we all make decisions…gods you are so good…together."
The moon hung low in the sky, casting an ethereal glow over the dense forest that bordered the werewolf tribe's territory. Maia's heart pounded in her chest as she leaned into Kai, their lips meeting in a fervent kiss.
The warmth of his embrace and the intoxicating scent of pine and earth that clung to him made her forget, if only for a moment, the dangerous reality of their situation.
But reality has a way of crashing back in at the worst times.
"Well, isn't this a cozy scene?"
The sharp, icy voice cut through the night air like a knife.
Maia and Kai sprang apart, their eyes widening as they saw Celine, Kai's soon-to-be Luna, standing at the edge of the clearing. Her eyes blazed with fury, and her lips were curled into a sneer.
"Celine, it's not what it looks like," Kai began, but Celine's laugh was harsh and unyielding.
"Save it, Kai. I always knew there was something between you two. Now I have proof," she spat, her voice laced with venom.
Before Kai could respond, Celine turned and disappeared into the forest, her steps swift and purposeful.
Panic surged through Maia as she clutched Kai's arm.
"What are we going to do?" she whispered, her voice trembling.
Kai's jaw tightened. "We have to get to the council before she does. If she convinces them—"
He didn't need to finish. They both knew the consequences.
They sprinted through the forest, the trees blurring past them. By the time they reached the council hall, it was too late. Celine was already there, her voice ringing out with righteous indignation as she recounted what she had seen.
"And I found them, locked in an embrace! And doing unspeakable things. How can we trust a leader who would betray his own pack like this?" she cried.
The council members murmured among themselves, their expressions a mix of shock and disapproval. Kai stepped forward, his hands raised in a gesture of peace.
"Council, please, listen to me," he began, but the murmuring grew louder, threatening to drown him out.
"Enough!" The commanding voice of Elder Reynard cut through the chaos. The room fell silent as he stepped forward, his stern gaze fixed on Kai. "What do you have to say for yourself, Alpha?"
Kai took a deep breath. "Celine saw what she saw, but it was not an act of betrayal. Maia and I... we've been drawn to each other for reasons beyond our control. But I assure you, my loyalty to the pack remains unwavering."
"That's a lie!" Celine's voice was shrill, her face contorted with rage. "He's betraying us, and you're all fools if you can't see it!"
The council exchanged uneasy glances. Just as Elder Reynard was about to speak, a horn sounded in the distance, its mournful wail signaling an attack. The room erupted into chaos as pack members rushed to prepare for battle.
Maia's heart sank. "No, no, no," she whispered, turning to Kai. "It's my clan. They've come for me."
Outside, the night was alive with the sounds of conflict. The werewolf hunters, Maia's clan, clashed with the werewolves, their weapons gleaming under the moonlight. Maia knew she had to act quickly.
"Stop!" she screamed, throwing herself into the midst of the battle. "Please, stop! I'm okay!"
Her voice rang out, cutting through the noise. The fighting slowed as both sides turned to look at her, confusion etched on their faces.
"Maia, what are you doing?" called Reynold, his voice tinged with fear and confusion.
"What the hell is going on here?"
Maia took a deep breath, her gaze sweeping over the assembled warriors. "I'm with Kai. I came here by choice. There's no need for this fight."
"She's lying!" Celine's voice rang out once more, but this time it lacked its previous certainty. The pack members glanced at each other, doubt creeping into their eyes.
Elder Reynard stepped forward, his expression grave.
"Celine, you've made a serious accusation. If you cannot prove it, you will face the consequences."
Celine's eyes darted around, panic setting in. "But I saw them! They were—"
"Enough," Reynard said, his voice final. "You have no proof. You have brought discord to our pack without cause. You are no longer fit to be Luna."
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd. Celine's face went pale as the weight of Reynard's words sank in. She stumbled back, her eyes filling with tears.
"No... please, you can't do this," she whispered, but the decision was final.
Meanwhile, Flora and Damien, who sounded the alarm that Maia had gone missing, watched quietly from the edge of the clearing, not believing their eyes.
The battle was over. The hunters withdrew, confused but relieved to see Maia unharmed.
"Maia, follow me, We're heading home." Reynold instructed.
"Just a minute father, I'll be there with you." Maia negotiated.
Reynold didn't want to leave her there, but things were safe now that the werewolves had cleared out.
"Well hurry up then." With that, he exits the clearing.
When everyone was gone, Flora and Damien approached her, their expressions a mix of awe and bewilderment.
"Maia, what just happened?" Flora asked, her voice shaky.
Maia hesitated. She took a deep breath. "There are things you don't know about me, about this world. Kai is... he's a werewolf. And my father and I, are werewolf hunters."
Damien's eyes widened. "You're kidding, right?"
Maia shook her head. "I wish I were. But it's the truth."
As her friends processed this revelation, a movement caught Maia's eye. Celine had shifted into a werewolf and ventured deep into the woods.
"Let's just get outta here guys. I promise I'll explain everything tomorrow morning." Maia reassured her friends.
The moon hung low in the sky, casting its silvery light over a hidden cave in a grove.
Celine sat on a rock, in a makeshift home of hers adorned with some domestic items that signify the presence of a child.
She held up a small bundle, wrapped tightly in a blanket. "At least I still have you," she announced, her voice ringing out in the shocked silence.
"I will make sure they all pay, especially your father, Kai"
The baby sneezed, and its eyes flashed a yellow and blue. Celine kissed her baby on the cheek.
"You and I are the future of the werewolves, and I will make sure of it even if it's the last thing I do."
Celine gazed into the distance, her eyes tinged with tears. "This is far from over," she repeated, her voice a chilling promise.
