In the Virtues' box…
Jonah and Mabel were talking near the aperitif table.
They tried not to let anyone overhear their conversation when Jonah said, "I think it was him."
Mabel frowned before her gaze shifted towards Satin, who was still absent-minded in one corner of the room.
His boisterous personality and powerful voice had been unusually absent during the event, which was strange to her.
Hearing the information Jonah gave her, it was clear why the Warrior beast Virtue wanted to go unnoticed that day.
"But why not ask him to remove his gloves instead?" Mabel asked with a raised brow. Or perhaps ambush him in a more remote place so Jonah could do what he pleases?
"I have no reason to do that, and even if I did, I would not prove anything. I need to keep an eye on him. It is better that he does not know that I am behind him!" Jonah said while looking at Mabel knowingly as if he knew that she was thinking of something a Virtue was not supposed to do.
She gave him an incredulous look before replying, "If that is your intention, you are doing a terrible job."
Jonah nodded and looked at the platform where Malcolm was waiting for his opponent to answer, "I am sorry! But it makes me angry to think that he is trying to murder that boy!"
"Who tried to murder whom?"
They suddenly heard a cold voice asking from behind them.
Jonah and Mabel turned around and looked at Maximo, who was studying them both curiously.
All the other Virtues watched the exchange, including Satin, who was now paying attention to what was happening in that place.
"Yesterday," Jonah replied calmly, "Yesterday someone tried to murder well, more like assassinate Malcom."
Jonah's gaze went to Satin to see how he reacted, but he did not show the slightest nervousness.
Because of this, Jonah was even more displeased. Without waiting for an answer from Maximo, he continued, "We think they were the same ones who kidnapped the marked ones during the concert."
Maximo shifted his gaze away from them, and then he stared directly at the platform. He did not speak for a few seconds, his expression complicated and full of reluctance.
"I deeply dislike that child!" Maximo suddenly remarked with unmaked annoyance. He then released a heavy sigh before he continued coldly, "But you can't let anything happen to him, is that clear, Jonah?"
Jonah was puzzled. He wanted to ask, but Maximo was looking at him with a warning. The Leader of the Virtues was silently giving him a warning.
With a frown, Jonah still nodded. "I know that, and it is my job to do so," he said as if he was offended.
Maximo snorted but remained to stare at the stadium.
"I didn't think you care," Jonah remarked suddenly.
"I don't," Maximo replied with complete indifference before adding coldly, "But if we can't protect our people, then what that boy says would be true. The Virtues would be incompetent."
Jonah smiled at Maximo's comment as the commentator on the platform introduced his opponent.
"With you, the winner of the first round! He comes today looking for his classification. A victory would lead him to qualify to the next stage of the tournament with you, Bill Chass! The free spirit!"
Many people encouraged his entrance. He was a consistent fighter. Chass was among the main ones to become a successor, but he had a tendency to talk too much.
Just as he arrived on stage, Chass immediately acted. He looked at the commentator, and honoring his reputation, he took his microphone and yelled, "Who is ready for the pain show?!"
His shout turned on the crowd. Everyone adored the way he behaved.
He was always good at making the public feel some thrill. Chass made the crowd look forward to the fight.
However, being a Shaman Junica, the Shamanic Virtue expected some more spirituality in him.
"Today, I am going to show that what this loser did last fight was nothing but luck! And I'm going to make him suffer!" Chass added enthusiastically.
Malcolm only smiled at the spectacle as if it was not related to him at all.
In the box of Virtues…
Junica's face reddened from Chass's shame. She was both furious and embarrassed.
"That Shaman is so expressive!" Petra said while looking at Junica, who kept shaking her head.
Petra laughed, "You don't like it for a successor?" She could not help but ask.
Junica gritted her teeth as she looked directly at the platform before replying, "Even if I like his personality! I don't think he can be my successor!"
While Junica was upset with his action, Chass continued brightly, "Who wants pain? Tell me!"
The crowd accompanied him with a loud 'me.'
At that moment, while looking directly at Malcom, Chass said, "Prepare to be destroyed, Marked!"
Malcom felt a hint of anger.
In the audience, many people smiled while others argued among themselves if that could be true.
Malcom calmly placed his hand on the Bio-sphere.
Chass approached it as well, before placing only one finger in a smug way, he won the stage audience.
Both were transported to a huge Savanah. There were no trees or places where no one could hide. It was an open stage determined for direct confrontations.
As soon as he appeared, Chass looked at Malcom, who also appeared in front of him with a cocky grin. "Tell me how you will hide now, Marked!" Chass challenged.
Malcom took the knife from his back and transformed it into a sword identical to the one the Guardian of the Sun had used.
Chass began to gather his power as Malcolm slowly took the sword with both hands and raised it above his head. He was ready to activate his ability when Malcom, descending with a blow, balanced the distance between them.
In less than a second, he appeared in front of the shaman, making a vertical cut that instantly ended his life.
