After the class ended, my friends, Kei, and I went to the cafeteria to have lunch.
"Hey Kei, what do you think?" Jake asked.
"About what?" Kei asked.
"I mean, our school. Amelia said earlier you are from an all-boys school. What can you say about the difference?" Jake said.
"Yeah, well, except the fact that we have girl students here okay," Michael added.
"I guess the atmosphere," Kei replied.
"Atmosphere? What a vogue answer," said Jake as he put his arms on Kei's right shoulder.
"Can you please not do that? I hate people touching me," said Kei as he glared at Jake.
Both Jake and Kei bicker with each other while Michael looks after them in case they get too serious.
"They seem like a cat and dog," Tiffany said.
"But they also look like almost friends who don't see each other for years," Roxanne added.
"Amelia, why Kei doesn't like to be touched by anyone? Does it also includes you?" Tiffany asked.
"Yeah, even his father doesn't touch him. Father said it started right after he turned eight years old," I said.
With much talking, all of us arrived at the cafeteria. The boys went to get our food and we, girls, went to look for a table. Tiffany, Roxanne, and I sat at the table while waiting for the boys.
From afar, I saw Alexander eating alone at the table in front of us.
Why do I feel that I've met him before? It is also kind of interesting.
I did not notice that Roxanne was talking to me.
"Hello, earth to Amelia, can we talk to you now?" said Roxanne while she waves her hand in front of my face.
"W-what? Sorry, what do you want to say?" I asked.
"Tch. You cannot hear us because you only focus on Alexander," Tiffany said.
"Amelia? You can be honest to us, do you like Alexander?" Roxanne asked.
Me? Likes Alexander? I don't think I like him, more like I'm curious about him.
"What? Amelia likes Alexander?" Jake asked with a loud voice.
All of the people at the cafeteria fastly looked at our table because of Jake's voice.
But Alexander doesn't seem bothered about it. He's still eating. Really an interesting guy.
"Jake, relax. It is not Amelia likes him. I think she only finds that guy interesting, right Amelia?" Kei said.
I nodded while still keeping my eyes on Alexander, he's still not bothered. Roxanne, Tiffany, Jake, and Michael were confused by my answer. Kei and I started eating while the other four followed later.
As we eat, I still observe Alexander from afar. Jake and Kei are still bickering over useless thoughts. While Roxanne and Tiffany were keeping their eyes on me. However, the only normal person at our table seems to be Michael, who peacefully eats his lunch.
"I'll head back first, take your time," I said.
They all turned their heads to me.
"Okay, have a good rest," said Roxanne.
"We'll take care of Kei," Michael added.
I took my tray and put it in the cafeteria's sink. Then, I went out of the schoolyard for a couple of minutes to look around.
I am not exaggerating but for me, my school's the best. Not to mention very well completed facilities for the students to use and one of the elite schools here in Greenstown. I sat for a while to watch my schoolmates play basketball on the court.
"Not bad. Those freshmen will have a big opportunity in terms of basketball," I said while amazingly watching their cool dribbles and passes.
One of the players mistakingly passes the ball which is supposedly going to his teammate but it seems to be a strong pass and the ball is directly flying towards my direction. It's too late to move and I may trip from my position so, I just crossed my arms and tried to cover myself when suddenly I saw a tall silhouette from my half-closed eyes.
"Control the way you pass the ball or else you may hit people."
A gentle but deep voice, similar with... It's impossible, right? Why would he do that? Am I expecting or imagining it?
I opened my eyes and lift my face to see clearly who the person blocked the ball for me.
"Classes may start again, what are you doing here?"
It's him! Alexander Ross!
"I'm sorry seniors!" the freshman said.
"I-It's okay! No need to bow like that," I replied to the freshman.
Alexander gave the ball to the freshman and he hurriedly went back to the court and played basketball again. As for Alexander and me, we walk together to our classroom.
He was walking in front of me and I was just quietly observing him from behind.
He has a very wide shoulder! Not just that, his physique is well built!
"Ouch!"
He stopped walking and I bumped into his back.
He turned around and talked, "Don't you have any questions?"
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Really? You don't know?" he sighed. "Earlier at the cafeteria you were observing me and now even I was walking in front of you I know you were observing me again, right Amelia?"
Gosh! How did he know?
"I-I am not!" I said.
He slowly cornered me into the locker. He moved his face closer to my face and caressed my hair.
Is he insane? Why would he do that?
After looking at my face for a while he started to talk, "If you were too curious about me just ask me. I'll appreciate it and answer your questions. No need to quietly observe me, it's kinda annoying actually."
"O-okay." I am stuttering while I give him my answer.
After that, he just smiled at me then, patted my head. He moved his face away from me, took a breath, and fixed his hair.
"Let's go back, the class may start soon," he said. I nodded. The two of us went back to the classroom and walk together.
He seems to be an intimidating person because of his red hair but he's more gentle and sweet, I guess. Alexander Ross, just why are you so interesting?
Our classroom is not that far from the schoolyard but... why do I feel like I am walking in such a long corridor. After what he said and did back there. The atmosphere became so... Awkward!
"Uhm... Alex thank you, f-for blocking the ball earlier.," I said.
"Alex?" he asked.
Why? Does he not like calling him Alex? What to do?
I stopped walking and talked, "Sorry if I called you like that even you don't want it, but I do thank you for earlier."
"Hahahahaha," he just laughed.
What's wrong with him? I can't understand either his words or actions?
"I'm sorry for laughing it is just you're so cute thinking that I don't like to be called Alex," he said while trying to control his laugh.
"Well... so... you won't mind if I call you Alex? It's just Alexander is too long and I thought that Alex would be your nickname so I..."
Right then before I finish what I wanted to say, he again patted my head and smiled, "I don't mind. You can call me whatever you want, and I won't dislike it."
Is he an angel? What's with those beautiful smiles, sparkling eyes, and bright red hair that dancing with the wind?
"Amelia Chandler!"
Alexander and I were shocked by the loud voice. It was Jake.
"You said you were heading first but when we finished our lunch you were not in the classroom and now you're here with this guy smiling?" Jake nagged.
"Oh, here you are Jake. I've been looking for you." Right after Michael finished his words he smacked Jake in the head and talked to Alexander, "I'm sorry for my friend's behavior. He's just kind of protective I guess, even to Amelia's brother Kei, he acted like this."
"No, it's okay I get him. If there is a person like Amelia I would gladly protect her also." Alexander shyly answered Michael with a smile.
Michael dragged Jake inside the classroom while Kei is quietly watching the situation from behind.
"That friend of yours, I think he needs to see a doctor. He's not protective, he's too obsessive."
"Kei? When did you..."
"Since Jake started to shout your name so loud as if he's calling you from the other building."
"Oh, Alex by the way he's the one Michael talked about, my brother and our classmate as well," I said.
"Kei Chandler." Kei offered his hand for a handshake and Alex accepted it.
The bell rang and we finally entered our classroom. The last subject for the day started without any delay.
