Lunch Break

The school bell rang and all of the students were joyfully celebrating in their classroom.

"At last! Only four subjects left!" Jake said.

Roxanne, Tiffany, Jake, Michael, Kei, and I went to the school cafeteria for lunch.

I still cannot forget what I heard inside the boy's restroom. I wonder how will Alexander tell Mr. Millers about it.

"Hello, earth to Amelia. You're spacing out, is there anything wrong?" Roxanne asked.

"No, I'm fine, I just remembered something."

"Let me guess, you're remembering what you answer in the exam earlier right?" Tiffany butted in.

I giggled. "Yeah." Kei noticed me and walked beside me.

"There is something wrong, I knew that kind of face. What is it?" Kei said.

"The thing is..."

"Kei, Amelia, hurry!" I did not finish what I was about to say when Jake called us in a hurry.

"What are you two talking about, is it important? If not, Michael and I will about to get our food and you'll be coming with us, Kei," Jake said.

"Amelia?" Kei asked.

"It's not that important, you can go. We'll talk about it later, okay," I told Kei. Then, the three boys went to the counter to get our food while I followed Roxanne and Tiffany to find a table for the six of us.

Meanwhile, while waiting for those who get the food. I noticed Alexander just sat down at the table in front of us. As usual, he's eating alone.

"Sorry for the wait, girls," Michael said while he handed Roxanne's food. Kei got Tifanny's and Jake had mine. We began to eat.

I am sure it was not that long since he started eating but he was in a hurry and finished his meal.

Is it because of the cheating case that we found out earlier?

I also hurriedly finished my meal to follow Alexander.

"Hey, Amelia, take it slow. You might get indigestion if you eat that fast," Michael said.

"I just need to finish this, I don't want to waste time here besides we still have the remaining four subjects," I said. Well, I'm sorry for that lame excuse. What I really want is to follow Alexander after all.

"Just what I thought. As one of the smartest students here, you're in a hurry to have some time for a last-minute review, right Amelia?" Jake said.

"W-well, yeah." Then, I stood up and hurriedly went out of the cafeteria and followed Alexander.

Where the hell is he? I look around to find him. Oh! There he is!

"Alex!" I called to him. He turned around in an instant.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"Well...as you know, that was bothering me since then so, I followed you, out of curiosity, I guess."

"That? Oh, do you mean, the cheaters from the restroom earlier?"

"Uh-huh."

"Cheaters?!" I was shocked by the loud voice, but the voice seems familiar. I turned around to see who it was, and so do Alexander.

"Kei? Did you..." right before I finished what I wanted to say Kei talked back.

"Yes, I followed you. I knew something was wrong. By the way, what do you mean by that, Amelia?" Kei asked.

I sighed. "Okay, I'll tell you but promise me you won't shout like what you did earlier."

"I promised," Kei answered.

I gestured for him to crouch down, and I started to tell him the whole story while whispering.

"Pfffft, Hahahahahaha!"

"Kei, what's funny?" I asked him.

"Well, I just never imagine that you, Amelia the great, will use a boy's restroom."

"Stop it! I'm in a hurry that time so I..." before I've finished my sentence, Alex interrupts the two of us.

"Enough! Both of you. Are just going to tease each other? If yes, will you please excuse me, I need to talk to Mr. Millers," Alexander said.

Both Kei and I were frozen and said in unison, "I'll go with you!"

"If that's the case, then let's go."

The three of us started to walk to Mr. Millers' office. Alexander takes the lead and knocks at Mr. Millers' door. Mr. Millers opened the door and welcomed the three of us into his office.

"What an unusual combination, the Chandler siblings and Mr. Ross. So, what do you want? It's your lunch break, right? Did the three of you already eat?" Mr. Miller asked.

"Thank you for the concern, Mr. Millers. Yes, we've already eaten our lunch. Actually, we are here to report something to you," I said. The three of us looked at each other and nodded at the same time.

Alexander took out his phone from his pocket and handed it over to Mr. Millers.

"When did this happen?" Mr. Millers asked.

"Earlier, around past nine in the morning. I went to the restroom to piss off and I heard them talking about it. So, I recorded it just in case," Alexander answered.

"Okay, so how about you two? What are you doing here?" Mr. Millers asked us as well.

"We're witnesses, I also heard them talking in the restroom," Kei answered.

"Ms. Amelia? Don't tell me you're in the boy's restroom too. Are you also a witness?"

"Yes, sir. I went to the restroom as well, a few minutes after Kei and Alexander went but the girl's restroom was out of order, so I went to the next building. Then, when I go back, I saw the two boys in the video come out from the boy's restroom, and then a couple of minutes later, I saw Kei and Alexander come out too. Then, they told me about what they heard."

"I see. I'll take care of this now. Is there anything else?" Mr. Millers said.

"Nothing else, sir," the three of us said in unison.

Mr. Millers thank us for what we did and praised us as well. He also promised us to make our identity anonymous, so that there will be no conflict between us students. We head back to our classroom.

"The seats are still empty," Kei said.

"Well, of course, there are still 30 minutes left until the lunch break ends," I said. I opened my notebook to have a last-minute review. "Kei, if you do not have anything else to say, can you go. Your presence distracts me," I added.

"Fine. Fine." Kei walked away and changed his attention towards Alexander.

What are they talking about? They seem close. Arggh, Amelia focus! Don't mind the two of them.

I still keep my eyes on them and I can hear their laughs. So, how on earth will I be able to focus on reviewing? But why in the first place I am so curious about them?

The school bell rang. The students started to come back one by one. Kei as well returned to his desk and Alexander seems to have fun talking to Kei.

"Okay, is everybody here?" Ms. Hawkins asked then looked around.

"Well, as I see there are no empty seats. We can proceed with the fifth exam for today."

In the end, I did not review anything. I just keep on checking between Kei and Alex who's talking earlier. Seriously, Amelia. What's wrong with you?

Ms. Hawkins started to pass over the test booklets. I took a slight glance at the classroom's window, and I saw Mr. Millers and the other two boys walking in the hallway.

It seems that Mr. Millers has already confronted the two boys and will go to his office. They deserve it anyway. A lot of students were working their asses off for this mock exam, and they were just cheating. That's just so unfair!

As I had my test booklet, I started to answer as well. Only three subjects to go.
