Chapter Fifty-Eight: From One Artist to Another

A small slim figure in black slipped into the queen's chamber, completely unseen by any of the maids or ladies-in-waiting.  She appeared to manifest straight out of the shadows and strode straight up to the sofa where the queen was lounging.  Peizhi looked up and wasn't even surprised to see the black-clad figure.

"Lusi, what have you found?"

"Something interesting," the woman removed her veil and revealed her familiar face.

The queen sat up, shaking off her boredom and malaise.  "Tell me!"

"The niece of Yongli has returned."

"How very fortunate for the family! Is she well? What happened?"

"According to the servants, she was kidnapped while she was out riding with her maid.  She was rescued by her servants, but somehow injured during the rescue, and, the most interesting part, they say she has no memory at all."

The empress frowned and sat back.  "No memory?"

"The young lady has amnesia and can't even remember herself."
