The Meeting of Clans - Part 3

The words spoken next sounded crazy to Samuel.

"The choice of wether we go to war with all the countries in this world or not, do we reclaim our world in the name of our ancestors or not?" The leader of house Presthan spoke, he was a dwarven man that looked angry all the time with perfect ginger hair and beard.

Samuel couldn't help but smile a little after inspecting him closer.

Lady Osira tapped a cane into the ground, "Among the original bloodlines, those of you who wish for war stand now."

Samuel had been completely shocked upon the revelation about war against all the other mortal races, he wasn't prepared in any way that those were the questions that were going to be asked.

He understood they would be important, but to that extent of crazy...

He looked around and not a single one of the 13 Bloodline leaders stood up. Among the 26 Leaders of the minor bloodlines only two stood while the rest remained seated.

"As per ancient law, If not at least one third stand then it won't even be brought forward as a proposal to the next step." Lady Osira tapped her staff again and everyone seemed to calm down slightly.

"Opening with the biggest questions here huh..." Samuel muttered to himself so that no one would even hear him.

"Next proposal... Will we take action against the Darkor cults threathening the other nations?" Lady Osira asked her question and looked around, "If you think so then please stand now!"

Samuel quickly looked over at Alsian whom remained seated, Samuel knew that it was a part of Alsian's job to already help deal with the cults, but here he refused to stand.

Was it because Alsian did not wan't to risk children of mana, did he not wish to send his own bloodline to a war like that. Not a single person stood up first, until Samuel did.

Samuel did not see it but Alsian smirked in approval, some surprised gasps were heard when the Lord of Clan Zabel stood a few seconds after. "Hah don't act so surprised! If those bastard cultists incur more problems it will affect House Zabel's business!"

Samuel saw when the man stood up just how largely built the man actually was, almost like a half giant. A few of the lesser 26 bloodlines also stood up, but alas they reached nowhere near that which was required.

Lady Osira tapped the floor once more with her cane. "So it has been decided as well, now we move on to the next question."

And so the meeting went on with almost no suggestions or questions being approved off, in fact Samuel could count on one hand just how many were actually passed which ended up in being two.

They were minor things about increasing the security of transports and pulling a tighter rope on the existence of Children of Mana.

It was like a council meeting that excelled in getting nothing approved off, "So moving on to the last point of this day!" Lady Osira tapped her staff to prepare everyone for the final proposal.

Everyone seemed to stretch their backs a bit in preparation of the final point. But it seems like no one was prepared for the subject in question as Lady Osira asked the question, "Will we once again fight against chaos like our ancestors did so long ago?"

Everyone started looking around in utter confusion, they seemed to try to figure out who had put the question forward. At that moment Alsian stood up. "In house Chronos we are a bit gifted in knowing the timeline, we knew that they once fought chaos before many other races even knew about them."

"Leaving the cults to one part is fine, but the forces of chaos are an entirely different thing. They will stop at nothing to destroy this world and every other place."

Alsian clenched his fist and raised it with one finger pointing towards the sky. "Chaos is an enemy that we haveto fight, because if we ignore it... The other races and nations won't be able to stand against it alone."

"I don't think much else is needed as an explanation!" He quickly walked back to his seat and sat back down one leg over the other.

Gesturing with one hand for anyone else to make a counterpoint, which didn't seem to come about as the hall remained quiet for a long while. All the clan leaders seemed to wait and look around for anyone else to speak.

They were trying to read if anyone else was going to say anything. Finally someone spoke up, the leader of clan Trivon whom sat opposite of Samuel, another of the original bloodlines.

Which was a half human half elven looking woman with blonde hair and a sharp face which seemed to scream authority. She looked quite young at the same time a typical trait of children of mana.

"I think we all agree to some extent!" Her words were plain as she held up a finger. "However that depends on what kind of threat we are actually expecting, if you say they will return then I have no doubt you are telling some truth!"

"But when we can expect this danger to return is another question." The woman looked quite displeased as she looked around at all the others in silence. She rolled her eyes.

"Today? Tomorrow? A hundred years soon?" She leaned forward. "I don't think this early of a panic about it is really required. But then again considering how slow we are at certain things I guess there is a good point."

"So all in agreement then?" Lady Osira quickly spoke not allowing the discussion to move even further. She then turned to Alsian and asked; "I assume you already have the documents and plans put forward to what must be done?"

Alsian nodded with a smile. "Everything will be put forward and copies will be sent to every clan present. Everything that will be put into precautionary methods and crisis handling in case the chaos comes down suddenly."

Everyone seemed to either relax or tense up at the stake of putting their own resources into this. "Very well! In that case I declare this meeting finished!" Lady Osira tapped her staff three times that seemed to create ripples of energy that surged through the ground all the way up through the chamber.

As the meeting concluded everyone seemed pleased and happy to be able to finally leave after the long day of sitting around. People started leaving the chamber in an orderly fashion while Samuel remained for a little bit.

All of the thirteen clan leaders and their closest members remained however, Samuel got the feeling that he should also remain especially since Alsian had one arm hanging off the armrest where he held a hand flat towards Samuel.

The call quickly became quiet as a few hundred people had left the hall, all that remained were the thirteen leaders and their closest.

"Now then, the meeting is finished but we are all very interested in the ressurrection of a clan believed lost for so long. What will your clan bring to the table?"

The one speaking was once again the clan leader of Zabel. He stood up and put one hand over his heart, "I am Maximillian Zabel! Leader of the richest house!" He proudly confessed while holding out both arms.

A few scoffs were heard which made him turn around and gleer. But much like him the others were also very interested even if they tried to look as neutral as possible.

Samuel shrugged slowly, "I do not quite know what I can bring to the table that has any significant value compared to everything that already is. Currently I do not have a lot to offer, but in a few years I will be able to contribute something of value I hope."

"A snot nosed whelp with nothing to offer, all he can bring is shame to his own bloodline. Why allow him to be one of us? Let a dead bloodline remain dead I say!" The one speaking was none other than the leader of house Melephandris. Zaeo Melephandris was one of the ones Alsian had reccomended Samuel to be wary off!

None of the leaders present seemed to approve of his way of speaking but neither did they open their mouths in disagreement. But that did not mean they agreed with him either.

"How about this! If he can beat any one of our champion fighters, then I will have no objection to him staying around!" Zaeo whom was a dark elf now let his white smile show in contrast to his dark grayish skin.

Samuel disliked the sinister look that came from his red eyes, feeling like this was indeed not someone he would trust openly.

It also looked like Zaeo was trying to entrap him in some sort of scheme, which made Samuel even more wary of him.
