Quick As Lightning, Fast as a Whirlwind

Samuel infused himself with the element of wind and even infused himself with lightning, lightning was one of the more dangerous elements to infuse your own body with, because if you lost control over it. The lightning energy would spasm out and could damage ones own body.

But in Samuel's case it was a bit easier, since he was naturally attuned to lightning which in itself was a subcategory of wind magic, but it was so much more than that when looking at the big picture. Because the natural elements were two different sides of the same aspect of nature itself.

So when he infused himself with lightning it was more about the destructive force rather than speed alone, he rushed forward towards the professor that had activated full defense infusion.

He perfectly blocked Samuels right hook without even flinching, but Samuel kept barraging him with punches which although kept getting blocked he could see that the teacher was struggling ever so slightly.

One of the things one can learn from the alchemy specialization that Samuel really enjoyed, is that science and magic used together creates plenty of new opportunities, don't think of lightning magic as just lightning, think of it also as a raw natural element.

Lightning is energy, but so is fire in different form. Samuel jumped up infusing his legs with fire and lightning at the same time, his legs almost crackled with energy as he kicked the teacher in the face and on his chest two times.

A triple kick, which took the professor by complete surprise as he was sent several meters backwards sliding on one knee, the professor was definitely an expert though because even though he took such powerful blows, he had not fallen on his back.

Randall stood up slowly and held up both hands to signify that it had been enough for the attack round. Samuel was surprised to how short it had lasted compared to the long defense he had had to endure.

Randall cracked his own neck with a pained groan before looking at Samuel, after a few seconds of staring he laughed, "Very impressive young man! I am exremely impressed by your skills... that triple kick while you were in midair, you certainly have mastered the arts of infusion!" He quickly walked over to a desk on the side and took out a few papers.

"Most students take two years to complete their specialization, I was excited at the fact I would have one student who would finish it in one year!" Randall motioned over to Markar whom stood there looking at Samuel with reverance and respect.

Randall chuckled, "Now I am proud to have passed one after only half a year, two in the same year is extremely extraordinary, the other teachers will be quite jealous!" He walked back over to Samuel and handed him a rolled up document.

He held it out with a handshake that Samuel accepted, "Congratulations young man! On passing your first specialization!" In that moment Randall was nothing more than a proud teacher, "Like they say, some people are quick as lightning or something like that!"

"But seeing as how you are no longer a part of my class!" Randall looked over to the door where several of his students had started arriving as the hour had come to that time. "I must ask you to leave!" He finished with a big grin and Samuel nodded with respect to his former master.

He quickly took his leave but was stopped not far outside the building by a huge hand on his shoulder. He turned around to face Markar the martial magic prodigy.

"Sorry! Can I help you with anything?" Samuel asked him and Markar quickly placed a fist on his open palm and gave him a bow, "Would you please let me join your faction?" His question made Samuel flinch. "What? I don't have a faction?" He asked with surprise.

"Haha! No need to be so humble! I know that the Gelger kids have already spread the word, they are creating the foundations for your faction when you enter the third year!" Markar grinned as he stood tall, well above two meters and at least two heads taller than Samuel.

"So please let me join! You are strong and skilled!"

Samuel sighed and shrugged, "Sure why not!" He would go ask them directly about it but honestly he couldn't be bothered with doing so, so at that point he decided to simply not care. If others wanted to use him like some kind of faction leader then he would just let them.

He then realized something, "Hey Markar wait just a second!" He told the giant man who stopped in his tracks. "Tell them I personally gave you permission to join and also ask them to keep an eye out for:" Samuel then proceeded to tell him about someone vandalising his house just because of who his teammate was.

Markar nodded along and seemed surprised when he heard that the headmasters daughter was his teammate, but he looked angry when told about vandalising. "Such people deserve not to be in such a college like this! Don't worry boss, I will make sure to deliver the word!" With those words Markar quickly took his leave.

Samuel sighed, things were looking to be quite an interesting next year of studies. But there were still a few months left before that. Having placed his diploma inside his shadow pocket he made his way back to the house.

Where everything seemed calm and collected, no new vandalisation or anything of the like. So he walked inside the door where everything was a mess, there were burn marks on many of the walls and traces of battle.

"So what the hell happened?" He yelled out loud when he heard a loud groan. He walked around to the sofas where Sonya lay on the floor groaning. She looked completely wrecked, Samuel quickly walked over to her as the door opened again and Erica came in looking chipper until she saw everything.

"What happened?" She asked, horrified at the state of the house. Samuel shrugged, "Thats what I am about to find out!" He said and knelt down to Sonya when the smell hit him. He squinted his eyes at her, "Have you been drinking?"

"Shhshh nooo, I don't drink!" Sonya said and giggled, Samuel helped her up on one of the couches and Erica came walking over looking extremely disappointed. "I never drink!" Sonya said to Erica whom sat down next to her.

A few moments later Sonya started crying and wailing into Erica. "They were just so mean, I been stayin strong aaaaaallll day loooong! I got sooo mad!" She yelled her heart out and Samuel looked around the house, "Yeah I can see what you took it out on!"

Several more minutes passed with Sonya changing between being angry and sad and happy. Before ultimately falling asleep in Erica's lap, "I will find all the bastards that made you cry and make them cry instead! Don't you worry!" Samuel promised to the sleeping Sonya.

"Will you be alright?" He asked Erica whom nodded, "I will be just fine, I stay out of trouble on my own anyway, It's like people tend to forget about my presence, which allows me to hear quite a few interesting things..." She said and silence ensued for a while before Samuel started cleaning up the mess.

"For example, things about a faction being formed around a friend o mine who hasn't said a word about it!" She said after a while and Samuel froze up for a second. He groaned loudly before telling her the entire story of how and why it was happening, as far as he could know at the very least.

The entire conversation made Erica giggle quite a bit. "Thats what you get silly!" She mocked him while thinking to herself that he was indeed quite impressive but also humble, which is probably what dragged so many people in to gather around him.

"Sonya's little sister bragged about it by the way, how she was joining your faction!" Erica spilled the beans after a while. Sonya's little sister Emma had always looked at Samuel like he was some kind of hero ever since he saved her from a bunch of assholes.

"It seems her entire team is joining as well, people seem to like you quite a bit!" Erica spoke while gently caressing Sonya's hair. She was sleeping soundly in her lap now. Samuel scoffed, "Yeah doesn't feel like a lot of people like me, at least not openly!"

"Thats because they want to be humble!" Erica snorted while Samuel just about finished cleaning up. He sighed and decided to make food for all of them as well, and so the evening passed with Sonya sleeping instantly after some food and the other two just relaxing and enjoying some banter back and forth.

The next day would bring new challenges to prepare for, new stories to be told. But as Samuel looked out the window he realized, that he was enjoying living quite a bit.
