Living the Life Part 2

Samuel took several breaths of calm and felt the energy of the world flowing through him in a serene calmness. Just looking at the stars allowing himself to dream away to times where his mother would point at all the stars and moons when he had asked what they were and what their names were.

"Mommy whats the name of the big white one." Samuel smiled at the memory and a few tears started streaming down his face. He sighed as he stood back up suddenly hearing a twig break somewhere behind him.

"Shit." Was all he could hear from a feminine voice.

Samuel quickly turned around with a curious look to see who was there, instantly his curiosity was replaced by annoyance as he saw 'Thief-girl' making Samuel sigh and stand tall looking at her with distrust. "What do you want this time thief girl?" Samuel quickly asked.

"Thief girl? Seriously? I have a name you asshole!" She sneered back like an annoyed snake making Samuel shrug. "Well I dont care." Samuel said and started walking past her. But he stopped once he saw the three young thugs from earlier looking at him from the church as they seemed to be slowly shifting closer.

"No mommy here to save you now cry baby!" The apparent 'leader' of the gang said as they started approaching with normal steps. This time they brandished daggers. Making Samuel grab his sword ready to draw it at any moment. He moved with the confidence of someone with training making the three stop for a few moments to reconsider. But their brains came to the conclusion that they were three where as he was one.

Surprisingly enough it was 'thief girl' that stepped in front of him. Now that he could pay more attention to her he noticed the half pointed ears typical for half elves. "Alright enough, stop being assholes. Its thanks to his mentor that we all can eat so well." She said in a very assertive voice.

"Shut the hell up Ulma!" The 'leader' said in an angry voice! "We gotta pay that bitch back for what she did to us! Also hes got a nice sword that will sell for a real good amount of money. Probably enough to get us going on the road!" He continued brimming with confidence.

"I hate to say it but your friends are correct." Samuel said as he pushed Ulma aside. Noticing that the other children were also in the church watching, too scared to do anything. 'Thief girl' aka Ulma just stood there flabbergasted at his sudden honesty and the fact that he pushed her aside.

"Just know that I will defend myself with my blade and it will hurt! A lot!" Samuel grinned at the three. Between the monligt and torchlight coming from the church they were perfectly illuminated. Which definitely gave Samuel the advantage since he had a longer weapon than the knives the thugs were brandishing.

"Alright lets gut him!" The 'leader' exclaimed and the three started advancing. Meanwhile Samuel was felt like this was another battle for life and death and definitely got nervous, until they all ran towards him at the same time from three different angles and time slowed down. Making them move in slow motion.

Samuel was as surprised as usual but this time he could not allowe himself to be distracted. He took one step forward and in a flash like movement to others watching he disarmed two of the thugs at once by hitting their blade hands with the flat side of his sword. Parrying the last dagger and throwing his opponent off balance.

Samuel quickly ducked - dodging a right hook from the one on the left which ended up hitting the leader in the middle knocking him out. 'These guys aint so tough after all' Samuel quickly though to himself. As he did the famous Faleah leg sweep knocking the one on the right off his feet before giving his head the flat side of his sword knocking him out cold as well.

It was around then the slow motion effect ended and he could tell in an instant. He tried to quickly turn and from the corner of his eyes he saw that the third one had gotten a spare dagger from his back. He was quickly running towards his back. The slow motion activated again, but even that would not be enough.

Samuel braced himself for the inevitable stab and prepared to strike back since his mid motion hindered him from blocking or parrying or even sidestepping in time. It was then that he felt a cold breeze almost get sucked in from all around him. In the next moment over in the slow motion state he could almost see a ball of air hit the third thug sending him crashing into a wall and knocking him cold.

Samuel instantly recognized magic and turned around to see who had come to his rescue. He found no new person, all he saw was 'Thief-girl' standing there with her hands extended and fear spreading in her eyes from what she had done.

"Holy shite... You can cast magic?!?" Was the first thing Samuel exclaimed a bit too loud. Making Ulma's eyes dart all over the place in worry. "What are you doing here if you can cast magic? You could enter whatever magic school you want if you are self taught like that!!!?" Samuel continued. Making her back off a bit in fear and worry.

Samuel realized to be still holding his sword when he saw her fear. So he quickly sheated his weapon and gave her a small bow. "Thank you for helping me. I would definitely have gotten stabbed if it wasn't for you!" He looked back up to see she was still a bit shocked but no longer scared.

Samuel quickly checked on the three thugs. 'They probably all have at least minor concussions' was all he could gather seeing them relatively fine otherwise. The guy who hit the wall will have the worst of it he realized. "Dont worry they probably wont know a thing if thats what you are worried about! You can just say that I knocked them out!" Samuel gave her a small smile.

While Ulma quickly shook her head.. "No they know that I can cast magic... and they will know that I helped you unless they lost their memories!" She said with fear. "I cant stay here any longer.. they will hurt me now." Ulma started sobbing while sinking down on the ground. Shaking like a hurt child.

Samuel quickly walked over and gently put his hand on her sholder. "Hey come with me then! My mentor can probably help you come to a solution. She is pretty great at those kinds of things alright!" Samuel said as gently as he could with a small smile.

It took a few minutes of calming down before she accepted. But eventually she accepted and Samuel brought her to the tavern to Faleah's room. After knocking on the door for a minute, he opened it and splashed water on Faleah to wake her up from her drunken state. Giving her a cold shock.

Faleah woke up swearing. "I need your help its important!" Samuel quickly said. While Faleah was about to go off on a huge angry rant she caught the eye of the figure standing in the doorway to her room. The whole scene had made Ulma worried again and she had started silently sobbing again while holding her arms around herself expecting to get scolded for something.

Faleah quickly got up out of bed, and looked first to Samuel and then to Ulma.. before looking at Samuel again, quickly walking over to him and giving him a powerful uppercut. She had asumed some of the worst when he had come asking for help with a crying girl to her room in the middle of the night.

The uppercut was all Samuel remembered as he woke up in his own bed in the morning.
