In the morning two servants came and dragged her back to her room. Ina was dehydrated, and unable to make any move. Her skin was burned and it hurt a lot. Assun came and helped her with some water, she also brought some ointment that she put on Ina's wounds. Ina hissed from pain. Assun sighted.
"Ina, stop it. She will kill you. Don't give her any reasons to punish you like that."
"Assun, I met my father." Ina smiled and fell asleep. She was too tired to argue or explain anything. All she needed was some rest.
Ina slept all day long and half of the night. She received some soup and water. Assun made sure she drank it all in small sips. Ina
The next day Ina was called back to do her duty. Ina was able to move again. She was a desert wolf and a day without water was nothing new, yet not a day in a full sun. No matter how strong she might be today she felt weak and was working slower than usual. To her surprise other slaves were helping her out. She felt ashamed, for the past months she felt as something more than a slave because she thought that Jiha felt something for her. Well for sure he felt lust but nothing more. She was just like Misa, the slave coach she met along with Gabriel. She also felt special but in the end was almost beaten to death. Right, she should keep to her own kind. Ina bit her teeth together and was trying to pull her weight, just like the others.
During that day she only once encountered Adeline. The proud Beta gave her a peculiar look and even smiled. Yet there was no happiness in this smile, no warmth, that smile made her shiver. Ina knew she needed to stop. Stop with that slave mentality. She was a wild desert wolf, this is only an episode in her life. Now she had an even better motivation. Her family was here. Father for sure and mother? Well hope dies last. These thoughts helped Ina to get through the day.
Laying in her bed she kept thinking about her father. She analyzed every moment of their brief encounter. Every word her father said, every gesture and every facial expression. She knew she has to see him again. There was a chance that as soon as Jiha returns, she might be able to convince him to buy her father. Ina smiled at this idea. If that happens, her say here would have at least one bright side to it.
With her head full of such thoughts Ina finally fell asleep.
To her utter surprise the next day she was called to accompany Adeline on some outing. Ina dressed but very modestly, she even put on that hated collar. She kept wondering why Adeline wanted to take her with. The last time she requested her presence was during that awful party. Ina felt anxious.
They were traveling together in a coach pulled by two white horses, Adeline knew how to have a dramatic entry. Ina felt awkward sitting opposite to that woman. They were sitting in silence and the windows were covered so Ina couldn't see where they were going. She felt something uncomfortable growing in her stomach. She was getting more and more nervous. Adeline hated her so she must be sheeming something, but what? Unable to ask, Ina was forcing herself to keep quiet. From time to time she was secretly looking at Adeline's expression but she was sitting with her eyes closed. She looked relaxed and Ina could read nothing out of her expression. The road was a bit bumpy but then the coach finally stopped.
"Out." Adeline didn't bother to keep appearances of any politeness.
Ina followed her order. As soon as she stepped out a very unpleasant smell hit her right in the face. Adeline was right behind her holding a handkerchief close to her nose, with the other hand she pulled her leash making Ina follow her.
The buildings were simple, with small windows and surrounded by a fence made of barbed wire. It looked rather scary.
Ina was walking behind that woman thinking that it might be her end. She was brought here so she finally could get rid of the unwanted Omega. Her heart was beating like crazy and Ina was trying to pull herself together. In front of the gate there were two guards. They bowed with respect and opened the gate to let them in.
Soon an opulent man came to greet the noble guest.
"Lady Adeline, it's a real pleasure to have you here." He bowed and led them inside through the gate and then further behind the main building. Adeline nodded slightly in appreciation.
They ended up in a square surrounded by buildings without windows, the stench here was much stronger, soon Ina noticed the source of it. It was a pile of dead people. They were placed on a cart next to a small wooden pedestal. Ina trembled at the sight of it. The opulent man showed them to a chair standing in a shaded area with a close view to the pedestal.
"My Lady, we have been waiting for you, just as you requested. Here, we have prepared a place for you to rest." He pointed at the chair, next to it was a small table with a burning incense that made it easier to breathe.
"Sorry for the inconvenience but according to the City Council's rules we remove the bodies once a week." He bowed again.
"I understand. Now warden, please leave us for a moment."
"Of course my lady." The man bowed again and left quickly.
Adeline sat down and turned around to look at the slave she brought with her. The hated Omega was standing there clueless about what was going to happen.
"Well Omega, I have prepared a surprise for you. Enjoy it just as much as I'm going to."
