The Golden Chain

Athanasia Gruwéigh, who graduate with the highest honor at the most prestigious university in Glovarno and was recognized as the best doctor against poison, decided to stay at her home, the golden forest and met a chained man in the middle of it. Athanasia’s interest in the man grew stronger as she slowly unfolds the mysteries around him.  Marcus Parham, chained and captive inside the most poisonous forest is awaiting his death when a golden-haired woman fell into his cage. As his annoyance grew towards the woman another emotion is slowly surfacing inside him. Both are in the forest, one is chained and one is free. As they try to unlock the chain that is bounding Marcus, a series of forbidden locks was also unlocked. Misfortunes surfaced and the cost of the key is a huge prize to pay.  ----------- (ON-HOLD) She grinned happily as she looked at Marcus who was now staring blankly at her. She felt strangely happy. Tingles erupted on her body as she looked at him. She felt excited, excited to give her gifts to him, and excited to see him up close. It was a strange feeling. Maybe because she rarely see him and she was not used to being around him or she just kissed him taking care of someone trapped in the forest. "Have you missed me?" She asked as she grins at him. His expression didn't change as he looked at her blankly. Athanasia wasn't exactly surprised by the reaction so she just went near him cautiously. She didn't forget to cast a protective spell around her as she walked toward him. She needs to be cautious because he's still a dark one, who hates her kind. "Hawdy was outside again. You should take care of your fox more." She said as she slowly takes a step closer to him. "You shouldn't treat him as your bodyguard." She continued, now she's close to where his chains will allow him. Sound of chains getting dragged echoed. He stood up from his seat and he glared at her. Suddenly, he was in front of her. He moved as fast as a wind that she didn't even notice it. They stood face to face with each other. They were inches away from each other. She can clearly see the color of his obsidian eyes, his thick eyebrows, and his red lips. She can almost hear his steady heartbeat. Her heart went crazy. It pounded so fast and loud that she was afraid he can heat it. "Gifts?" She cringed and raised the bag.

Fairy's Sweet Tooth

Outside the glass windows, the wind blows ferociously, causing them to rattle occasionally. The rain is pouring down and the roaring sound of thunder echoed in the quiet room. The constant rain since that morning didn't stop and it only got worse. The room is dim because of the thick black clouds hovering over the forest. The light from the lamp was the only light source inside her room.

Athanasia hopelessly gazed outside her window. Her plan to go inside the forest was postponed due to the bad weather. She had planned on going out to pick herbs and give her gift to Marcus this morning but the weather is not cooperating with her. She's been sitting in her room for hours, staring at her window while waiting for the rain to stop.

Although this bad weather was now normal in the golden forest, they often refrain from going out because of the danger. Even the animals are hiding and seeking protection whenever the weather is this bad. She was not a fool to go out and expose herself to danger.

"What is this weather? Athanasia! Why is our jar of honey empty?!" Dandelion shouted from the kitchen.

Athanasia flinched and her daydream was cut off because of Dandelion's scream. She went out of her room with heavy steps. Why is Dandelion screaming in the morning?

"I don't know! The last time I checked it was full! Ask Hawdy!" She shouted as she go down the stairs.

Dandelion's head popped out of the counter while holding two jars that has the label 'honey'. She looked at Athanasia with big eyes who had just come out of her room after locking herself inside since morning.

Dandelion looks irritated her eyebrows are scrunched in irritation as she glared at Athanasia. Her peach, gold, and green-colored wings are fluttering at her back. Athanasia raised her eyebrows as she looks at Dandelion. Dandelion may have wings but she can not fly because she is in her human form. The wings of a butterfly can't possibly carry a body as big as Dandelion's.

"You should ask Flora. Maybe she ate all of ut when we were away." Athanasia said and sat on the couch.

"It's already empty when we arrived yesterday," Hawdy said while soaking wet.

He came through the backdoor and is now holding a basket full of eggs. He looks like he had a war with the chickens outside from the looks of his muddy shirt.

Dandelion, still looking frustrated is turning from her human form to her fairy form in a matter of seconds as she paced around the kitchen, opening the cabinets. Hawdy looked at Dandelion with a confused expression then she turned to look at Athanasia.

Realization hit Athanasia as she watches her Fairy-friend pace back and for, looking for sweets. It's time for Dandelion's sweet cycle! Startled because she only realized it now, she got up from her seat and started to look for sweets in the kitchen too. A fairy's sweet cycle may not be as bad as a werewolf's heat cycle but a fairy that's unsatisfied tooth will turn the whole house upside down, especially because Dandelion is a powerful fairy.

"Put the eggs down and look for sweets! or a flower with a sweet nectar!" Athanasia told Hawdy.

Hawdy panicky pt down the eggs on the floor, "How do I know if the flower has sweet nectar?!" he asked at the door.

"I don't know! just pick any flower!" Athanasia said while looking under the sink.

She made sure that she stocked honey in the kitchen because of Dandelion's sweet cycle. Then why is there no honey on the jar? Not even a single sweet candy or chocolate is in the kitchen. She made sure to remember to talk to the pixies later.

Dandelion's face is now red in frustration. Athanasia worriedly looked at her. Even though Dandelion is powerful, she is still a fairy.

Minutes later, Hawdy came inside, soaking the floor with water as he entered the house. He is holding a bunch of flowers from outside and he put it on the table. There were many different kinds of flowers on the table, all of them are wet and are now causing a small flood on their table.

"What is happening?" He asked.

Dandelion grabbed each of the flowers and smelled them. She scrunched her nose and dropped them.

"There's no nectar in any of these." She said as she picked each flower sniffing each of them.

"She's having her sweet cycle. She'll crave sweets until her tooth is satisfied. All the fairies experience it." Athanasia whispered to the confused Hawdy.

Hawdy nodded. Athanasia nodded too. It seems like Hawdy has some knowledge about fairies. She doesn't have the time to explain it to him because they are all busy going over all the cabinets inside the house, looking for sweets to satisfy Dandelion's craving.

Dandelion suddenly stopped pacing and stand up straight, looking frustrated and determined. Athanasia and Hawdy looked at her, confusion written on their face. Athanasia's heart pounded due to nervousness. She knows Dandelion long enough to know that her face right now is bad news.

"I want honey. I'm going to talk to Flora." Determined, Dandelion returned to her fairy form and flew outside.

"You'll hurt your wings! The wind is strong!" Athanasia shouted at the door.

Dandelion was already far and out of reach. She watched as Dandelions form disappear with the rain. She held her head with her hands as she watch the stubborn fairy friend of hers disappear.

Should she follow her? But the weather is bad and they'll probably end up missing at the same time. She scrunched her brows to think and looked at Hawdy whose face is still in shock because of Dandelion's sudden suicide.

"I should follow her. You stay here and don't move." She told Hawdy and run upstairs.

The last thing that she will do is to worry about Dandelion without doing anything.

I promise that Marcus and Athanasia's interaction is near. I've been working on their interaction for quite a while now and I want it to be beautiful and worth reading.
