Chapter 4

Amelia Bones sits alone in her room, the weight of sorrow heavy upon her shoulders. In her hands, she holds a bottle of Firewhiskey, its contents a temporary refuge from the pain that gnaws at her heart. She stares at the label, her thoughts consumed by the betrayal of someone she once held dear.

Sirius Black—a name that once brought her comfort and joy—now fills her with anguish and disbelief. The thought of him betraying the Potter family, whom they both cherished as more than friends, cuts deep into her soul like a knife. How could he have turned his back on everything they believed in, everything they fought for together?

As she takes a swig from the bottle, the fiery liquid burns her throat, matching the fire of anger and despair that rages within her. She tries to push away the memories of happier times, of laughter and camaraderie shared with Sirius and the Potters. But they haunt her like ghosts, taunting her with the cruel reality of betrayal.

In her heart, she struggles to reconcile the image of the man she once loved with the accusations that now stain his name. Was it possible that Sirius could have done such a thing? Or was there more to the story than met the eye?

As the Firewhiskey numbs her senses, Amelia finds herself lost in a sea of uncertainty and doubt. She knows that she must face the truth, no matter how painful it may be. But for now, she seeks solace in the oblivion of intoxication, drowning her sorrows in a futile attempt to escape the harsh reality of betrayal and loss.

Amelia's heart races as she is jolted from her thoughts by a blinding light emanating from the backyard. Her Auror instincts kick into overdrive, and she springs into action, adrenaline coursing through her veins. With her wand drawn and at the ready, she dashes towards the source of the light, her senses heightened and alert.

As she bursts through the back door, her eyes scan the area for any signs of danger. The brightness of the light makes it difficult for her to see clearly, but she remains focused, her grip on her wand firm and steady. Every muscle in her body is poised for action, ready to confront whatever threat may lie ahead.

With cautious steps, she approaches the spot where the light seems to be originating from, her senses on high alert for any sudden movements or hostile intentions. Her Auror training kicks in, guiding her movements with precision and skill as she navigates the unfamiliar terrain of her backyard.

As she draws closer, the intensity of the light begins to dim, revealing a figure standing amidst the glow. Amelia's breath catches in her throat as she prepares herself for whatever may come next. With her wand raised and her senses finely attuned, she waits for the figure to reveal its intentions, ready to defend herself at all costs.

Amelia's heart skips a beat as she beholds the figure standing before her—a figure she had once believed lost to the cruel grasp of death. It is Lily Potter, her sister-in-all-but-name, dressed in attire that exudes an aura of regal elegance and majesty. The vibrant hues of orange and gold adorn her form, casting a radiant glow that seems to illuminate the darkness around them.

A surge of disbelief washes over Amelia as she struggles to comprehend the miraculous sight before her. Lily, alive and well, standing before her in all her resplendent glory. It is a moment that defies reason and logic, filling her with a sense of wonder and awe.

With trembling hands, Amelia lowers her wand, her gaze fixed upon Lily's ethereal form. There is a mixture of emotions swirling within her—joy, relief, and a profound sense of gratitude. For in this moment, she realizes that the bonds of friendship and sisterhood transcend even the boundaries of life and death.

"Lily..." Amelia's voice is barely a whisper, choked with emotion as she struggles to find the words to express the overwhelming flood of feelings that courses through her. It is a moment of profound connection, a reaffirmation of the deep bond that exists between them.

As Lily approaches, her smile radiant with warmth and affection, she envelops Amelia in a gentle embrace. Amelia's defenses crumble in the face of Lily's embrace, her heart overflowing with a flood of pent-up emotions. Tears stream down her cheeks, mingling with the warmth of Lily's embrace as she allows herself to be held, to be comforted by the familiar presence of her sister-in-all-but-name.

In that moment, all the pain and sorrow she has carried within her heart melts away, replaced by a sense of solace and peace. Lily's embrace is a balm to her wounded soul, a reminder that she is not alone in her struggles, that there are still those who care for her deeply.

Amidst the tears and the embrace, Amelia finds a sense of release, a letting go of the burdens she has carried for so long. In Lily's arms, she finds a sanctuary, a place where she can finally allow herself to be vulnerable, to let her emotions flow freely without fear or reservation.

And as they stand together, locked in a wordless embrace, Amelia knows that no matter what challenges lie ahead, she will always have Lily by her side, a beacon of light in the darkness, a source of strength and comfort in times of need.

Amelia's voice trembles with disbelief as she pulls away slightly from Lily's embrace, her eyes searching Lily's face for answers. "How is this possible?" she whispers, her tone filled with a mixture of wonder and confusion.

Lily meets her gaze with a serene smile, her eyes shining with a gentle light. "It's a long story," she begins, her voice soft but steady. "But suffice it to say, fate has a way of working in mysterious ways."

As Lily gathers her thoughts, she begins to share with Amelia the truth of her origins as Eirlys, a princess of Asgard. She speaks of a distant realm beyond the mortal world, where gods and goddesses reign supreme, and where her story began long before she ever set foot on Earth.

"In Asgard, I was known as Eirlys," Lily begins, her voice tinged with a hint of nostalgia. "I was born into a world of magic and wonder, a world where the very fabric of reality is shaped by the power of the gods."

She recounts tales of her childhood in the halls of Asgard, where she was raised alongside her sister Hela, the Goddess of Death. She speaks of a time of peace and prosperity, when the realms were united under the rule of Odin, the All-Father, and Frigga, the Queen of Asgard.

But as she delves deeper into her past, Lily's expression grows somber, her eyes clouded with a hint of sadness. She speaks of a rift that formed between her and Odin, a disagreement over the path their kingdom should take—a path of conquest and war that she could not condone.

"In the end, I was cast out of Asgard, exiled to the realm of Midgard, where I was reborn as Lily Evans," she explains, her voice tinged with regret. "It was a punishment for my defiance, a chance for me to learn humility and compassion among mortals."

As Lily shares her story with Amelia, there is a sense of vulnerability in her words, a willingness to open up and reveal the depths of her soul. And as Amelia listens, she finds herself drawn into the tapestry of Lily's past, a tale of love and loss, of triumph and tragedy, woven together with the threads of destiny.

Amelia's shock is palpable as she absorbs the magnitude of Lily's revelation. The idea of her friend being a goddess seems almost surreal, a relic of a bygone era. But as she looks into Lily's eyes, she sees not a deity, but a friend—a friend who has returned from the brink of death to stand by her side once more.

"Lily," Amelia begins, her voice trembling with emotion. "To me, you'll always be Lily, my dear friend and sister-in-all-but-name."

There is a moment of silence as the weight of their shared history hangs in the air between them. And then, without another word, they embrace once more, bound by the unbreakable bonds of friendship and sisterhood that have endured the test of time.

As Lily broaches the topic of Sirius, Amelia feels a surge of anger rising within her like a tempest ready to unleash its fury. The mere mention of Sirius's name ignites a firestorm of emotions within her—betrayal, hurt, and a burning desire for justice.

"Lily," she says, her voice trembling with barely contained rage. "That man—Sirius Black—he betrayed the trust of the Potter family, of everyone who ever believed in him. He deserves to rot in Azkaban for what he's done."

Her words are laced with bitterness, her fists clenched at her sides as she struggles to contain the torrent of emotions threatening to consume her. The memory of Sirius's alleged betrayal cuts deep, reopening old wounds that have yet to heal.

But even as she speaks, a part of her knows that there is more to the story than meets the eye. She can sense it in the depths of her soul—a nagging doubt, a flicker of uncertainty that refuses to be extinguished.

As Lily sets the record straight, a wave of realization washes over Amelia, sweeping away the doubts and suspicions that have plagued her for so long. The truth, raw and unfiltered, pierces through the veil of lies and deception, illuminating the darkness with its blinding light.

"Peter... Pettigrew?" Amelia repeats, her voice barely above a whisper. "But... how is that possible?"

Lily nods solemnly, her expression grave but resolute. "It's the truth, Amelia," she says, her voice steady and unwavering. "Peter Pettigrew was the one who betrayed the Potter family, not Sirius. He framed Sirius for his own crimes, using dark magic to fake his own death and pin the blame on him."

The pieces of the puzzle fall into place, fitting together with a sense of clarity that is both exhilarating and terrifying. The truth, as painful as it may be, is undeniable—Sirius Black is innocent, a victim of circumstance and betrayal.

As the weight of the revelation sinks in, Amelia feels a surge of relief wash over her, lifting the burden of guilt and doubt from her shoulders. Sirius, her beloved, her friend, her confidante, is not the monster she once believed him to be.

In that moment, she knows that she must do everything in her power to right the wrongs of the past, to seek justice for Sirius and for all those who have been wronged by the machinations of Peter Pettigrew.

Amelia's frantic words spill forth like a torrential downpour, fueled by desperation and a fierce determination to see justice served. The very thought of Sirius languishing in the cold, dark confines of Azkaban, wrongly accused and imprisoned, fills her with a sense of righteous indignation that threatens to overwhelm her.

"Lily, we have to do something," she insists, her voice trembling with emotion. "Sirius doesn't belong in Azkaban. He's innocent, and he deserves to be free."

Her words ring out with a sense of urgency, echoing through the room like a clarion call to action. There is no time to waste, no room for hesitation—the fate of a wrongly accused man hangs in the balance, and it is up to them to set things right.

"Sirius is in Asgard, Amelia." Lily states.

Lily's statement cuts through the storm of Amelia's frantic thoughts like a beacon of hope in the darkness. The mere mention of Asgard, coupled with the revelation that Sirius is safe and free, fills her with a sense of relief so profound it threatens to bring tears to her eyes.

"As... Asgard?" Amelia repeats, her voice barely above a whisper, disbelief mingling with hope in her heart. "Lily, is this true? Sirius is... he's safe?"

Lily nods solemnly, her expression one of reassurance and determination. "Yes, Amelia," she confirms, her voice steady and unwavering. "My brother Loki broke Sirius out of Azkaban and brought him here, to Asgard. He's safe now, I promise."

Amelia's snort of amusement echoes through the backyard, a welcome respite from the tension that had gripped her. The idea of Loki, the mischievous God of Mischief, being the one to orchestrate Sirius's escape from Azkaban strikes her as both fitting and strangely poetic—a twist of fate that Sirius himself would likely find immensely amusing.

"Typical Sirius," she remarks with a wry grin, shaking her head in disbelief. "I can just imagine the look on his face when he realized who his rescuer was. He would have loved every minute of it."

Beside her, Lily joins in the laughter, her eyes sparkling with mirth. "Oh, absolutely," she agrees, her voice tinged with amusement. "Sirius always did have a knack for getting himself into—and out of—trouble. And it seems he's found a kindred spirit in my brother Loki."

As the laughter fades and Amelia's mind wanders to the implications of Sirius and Loki forming a friendship, a shiver of unease creeps down her spine. The idea of two such powerful and unpredictable individuals joining forces, their mischievous spirits intertwining in a whirlwind of chaos and unpredictability, fills her with a sense of apprehension and dread.

For Sirius, with his penchant for mischief and his irrepressible spirit, combined with Loki's cunning and cunning, the possibilities are endless—and not all of them are pleasant. The thought of the trouble they could cause, the havoc they could wreak, sends a chill down her spine, leaving her feeling distinctly unsettled.

"He's waiting for me to call on him," Lily informs Amelia, "Sirius is dying to meet you."

Lily's words pierce through the unease that grips Amelia's heart, offering a ray of hope amidst the swirling uncertainty that surrounds them. The thought of Sirius, safe and waiting in the hallowed halls of Asgard, fills her with a sense of relief and gratitude that she cannot fully express.

"Thank you, Lily," she says softly, her voice filled with emotion. "Thank you for everything. I... I can't tell you how much this means to me."

Lily smiles warmly, her eyes shining with understanding and compassion. "You don't need to thank me, Amelia," she replies gently. "We're family, and family looks out for each other. Sirius is safe now, and we'll do everything we can to ensure that he stays that way."

With those words, a weight lifts from Amelia's shoulders, leaving her feeling lighter and more hopeful than she has in months. She knows that there are still challenges ahead, still battles to be fought and won, but with Sirius by her side and Lily's support guiding her way, she feels confident that they will emerge victorious in the end.

"Do you want to see him?" Lily asked.

Amelia's heart skips a beat at Lily's question, a mix of anticipation and nervousness fluttering in her chest. The thought of seeing Sirius again, after everything they've been through, fills her with a sense of longing and excitement that she can hardly contain.

"Yes," she replies, her voice barely above a whisper, her eyes shining with emotion. "Yes, I do. I want to see him."

With a warm smile, Lily takes Amelia's hand in hers, offering her silent reassurance and support.

"Heimdall!" Lily exclaims, looking to the sky. "Open the Bifrost!"

As the radiant beam of rainbow light illuminates the sky, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the horizon, Sirius and a figure beside him materialize before them, stepping forth from the ethereal glow of the Bifrost. Amelia's heart skips a beat at the sight of Sirius, her eyes drinking in the familiar contours of his face, the warmth of his smile filling her with a sense of joy and relief.

"Sirius," she breathes, her voice barely above a whisper, her gaze locked with his as he approaches, a sense of longing and anticipation swirling in the air between them. And then Amelia runs towards Sirius.

As Sirius spreads his arms, expecting a warm embrace from Amelia, he is taken aback when instead of wrapping her arms around him, she delivers a swift punch to his shoulder with surprising force.

"Ow!" Sirius exclaims, recoiling slightly from the unexpected blow, his eyes widening in shock as he clutches his shoulder in pain.

Amelia stands before him, her eyes blazing with a mixture of anger and relief, her fists clenched at her sides as she glares at him accusingly.

"That was for making me think you were a traitor, you idiot!" she scolds him, her voice trembling with emotion as she fights to hold back tears. "Do you have any idea what you've put me through?"

Sirius winces at Amelia's words, the weight of her accusation hitting him like a punch to the gut. He hangs his head in shame, unable to meet her gaze as he realizes the pain he has caused her with his silence and absence.

"I'm sorry, Amelia," he murmurs, his voice filled with remorse. "I never wanted to hurt you. I was just trying to protect Harry, to keep him safe."

Amelia's anger softens slightly at Sirius's apology, her heart aching with the knowledge of the sacrifices he has made for the ones he loves.

"I know," she says softly, her voice tinged with sadness. "But that doesn't excuse what you did. You made me believe you were a traitor, Sirius. You made me doubt everything I thought I knew about you."

Sirius hangs his head, feeling the weight of her words like a heavy burden on his shoulders. He knows he can never fully make amends for the pain he has caused her, but he is determined to try.

"I'm here now, Amelia," he says earnestly, his voice filled with sincerity. "And I promise, I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I'll never let you down again."

With those words, he reaches out to her, his hand gently touching her cheek as he looks into her eyes with a mixture of regret and love. And as they stand together, their hearts heavy with the weight of their shared past, they know that they have a long road ahead of them. But with each other by their side, they are ready to face whatever challenges come their way, their bond stronger than ever before.
