Chapter 2: Desenscion

Aeon sensed the feeling of soft wind pressing against him. He smiled, it reminded him of the kind Aer, the Goddess of Wind. However, the wind began to feel like scorching fire against his skin, reminding him of the not so kind Vulcan, the God of Fire. As seconds passed, the sensation of burning became extremely unpleasant.

'Isn't this supposed to be the afterlife? Why does it hurt so much?', the old god grumbled in his head. It was painful, but the experience was nothing compared to his hundred year war against the mad gods.

'Wait a second…we never created an afterlife…', Aeon thought to himself. Prying open his eyes, the god took in the world around him. He was falling, face first, into the world that he created. As his momentum increased, he began to rocket towards the world like a falling comet. His skin began to ignite, causing Aeon to cry out in pain as he burned alive. He gritted his teeth, and thought of ways to save himself. But, it was too late. He was only seconds away from hitting the ground.

Aeon smashed into the ground. Every single bone in his now mortal body shattered into fragments and his organs were ejected from their confines, splattering all over the bloodied earth.

And then he opened his eyes once more.

[Skill: precognition unlocked!]

Aeon scratched his head as he began to descend back down to the world once more, except this time in his real body. He wasn't too surprised by this "system" thing, the God of Technology Euresis had blabbered about it to him in the past. Aeon began to regret not paying attention to him now.

"Status", Aeon choked out. It was hard to breathe up there.

Aeon calmly thought about his next move. He would hit the ground in approximately forty seconds if he did not take any new actions. It seemed that there was only one thing he could do in this situation.

'Well, here goes nothing…'

"Bang.", Aeon uttered. Almost reflexively, his hand pointed like a finger gun. There were ten seconds left until he would reach his demise, the old god needed to time it down to the millisecond.

Turning himself upright, Aeon activated the spell above his head right before his feet touched the ground. The pocket of gravity, although fairly weak, was enough to yank him up and disrupt the momentum of his freefall. There were repercussions however, it felt like his entire skeletal system had jumped inside his own skin. To put it simply, it was a very painful experience. Crawling into a fetal position, Aeon began to vomit blood. He wondered if any organs ruptured.

Despite the pain, there was an almost insane grin plastered across the old god's face. Aeon felt alive for the first time in his life! Even during the hundred year war, he still felt the dull sense of tiredness in the back of his skull. But now, on this world in his mortal body, he felt truly alive! The sensation of blood roaring in his veins, the rhythm of his beating heart, the task of breathing air into his lungs, it was all simply a wondrous feeling.

Snapping out of it, the grin faded from his face. He was surrounded by a group of seven figures equipped with full metal plate armor.

"How nostalgic.", Aeon sighed.
