Chapter 21: Toad Solider

"Scarlett?" Liza spoke to Scarlett.

"Yes Master?" Scarlett responded.

"We both agree this is stupid right?" Scarlett nodded in agreement.

The two were currently somewhere around the Salamander din and were watching the Salamander from a far. To why are they there? Once again we'll have to go back a few hours ago.

~FEW HOURS EARLIER~

"This is awesome! I finally got a Toad Mode!" Liza cheered, before hitting her head to the ceiling.

"Master!" Scarlett panicked as she tried to catch Liza.

But Liza didn't fell back down, instead Liza started crawling across the walls. It startled Scarlett at first but she calmly followed her toad of a master until they found a group of toads.

"Master, what are you planning to do?" Scarlett asked before Liza flopped to the ground.

"I'm gonna test out a new skill," Liza explained after getting up on her feet.

Liza then started to swing her long tongue and spat at poison at the group of toads. When the poison hit the toads, they suddenly turned into reddish color. The toads started to surround Liza and Scarlett while they croak.

"Master, what is this?" Scarlett said in confusion.

"I'm not done yet!" Liza swirl her tongue around and caught the red toad and swollen it whole.

Liza then spat out a red humanoid toad with yellow on it's head and back. "Scarlett! I present you a Toad Solider!"

"Toad Solider?" Scarlett questioned.

"Yep! It's one of the new skills I got. This Toad is a part of our party for now," Liza chuckled proudly.

"What are you planning to do with him?" Scarlett asked.

Liza turned to Scarlett with a devilish grin. "Well..."

To put Liza's plan short. Her, Scarlett and the aid of the Toad Solider are going to fight the Salamander, kill it, and then finally exit the labyrinth. Saying it is easy enough, but actually doing is a total different story.

~PRESENT TIME~

"This so stupid..." Liza blurted out.

"Indeed... but judging by that look on your face. We're still doing this aren't we?" Scarlett sighed.

"Are we going now?" The Toad Solider spoke.

"No Red, it's still too soon. If we go in now, there's no doubt that lizard will immediately run after us," Liza explained.

'It's only been a few hours but Red here, is already know how to speak the human language. Which is great, since it avoids complications between Red and Scarlett in the communication area.

I named him Red because I really couldn't think up a name that didn't sound corny. Besides that, the name itself is simple. So it's easier to remember,' Liza thought as she gazes at Red with a slightly tired yet joyful expression.

It's true, Liza did named Red because it was simple. However, there was another reason. The word simple was someone's way to describe Liza. A.K.A Runt. Red was a name that matched Liza's simplicity.

Although Liza did say having the Toad Solider in their party is temporarily. However, things happened. The more Liza spend time with her new companion, the more attached she got. The instant when Liza gave Red his name, Liza was forever hooked.

Scarlett was annoyed by this at first, but when she started teaching Red how to read and write. Scarlett found out something about Red. Toad Solider or not, Red had a side of innocence in him. That innocence was how he won Scarlett over. Scarlett then started to treat Red as a little brother, and Red fitted the role quite nicely.

At the end, both Liza and Scarlett decided to keep Red when they leave the labyrinth together.
