“This is your home?”
“One of them, yes.”
“One… what do you mean?” I was nervous for a completely different reason now. Once he assured me that I wasn’t going to meet his parents immediately upon entering the city, I started to relax. I had at least one more day and night before I had to deal with that.
I felt bad about keeping him away from his family, so I didn’t let on how I was feeling, but he decided on his own that it was better to wait until we weren’t so over-tired from our trip. He must’ve seen the relief on my face when he told me because he'd chuckled and kissed me on the tip of my nose.
I wanted to joke that one day wasn’t going to erase the ball in my gut and the sudden fear of being rejected. All the fears I had that I thought I had dealt with bit by bit were back in full force, and there was no overcoming them now that I was here. Still, one more day was very well appreciated.
