Chapter 29: Merry Christmas
Rowan POV
Rowan wanted to throttle Odo Sapphire. As soon as Ylana left the table to go check on Indigo, the man started mumbling the rudest things under his breath about his children. They were things that Rowan would never want to repeat.
When he couldn’t stand it anymore, Rowan hissed, “Why are you so horrible to them?”
Odo gave Rowan what could only be described as a death glare. “What I do is none of your business.”
“I think it is when it concerns my wife,” Rowan corrected. “The tough guy imagine is fine and dandy with the people who work for you, but with your own children? It’s like you want them to hate you.”
“Do you think I care?” Odo snarled. “I had children for two reasons: to provide an heir for my empire and because Charlotte, my wife, wanted them.”
It was the first time Rowan had heard Ylana’s mother’s name spoken. Ylana always seemed to try and make herself smaller whenever he tried to ask about her.
