One day two beautiful twin babies were born. Luna, and Selene. They were to be the future queens of Spacio. On the twins fourth birthday. A tragedy plagued the whole planet...
"Come on! The moon raise is about to begin!" Selene yelled down the hall at her sister while running to the highest balcony of the castle. She slowed down a bit so Luna could catch up. Luna was exhaustedly trying to keep up with her sister. "Selene! Wait up! I'm so tired, we see the moon every night, what's so special about it tonight?" Luna pouted. She had been helping her mom all day and just wanted some sleep. "Well, you know that a celestial moon only comes out every one thousand years but it's only been six hundred fifty-three years since the last Celestial moon." They reached the balustrade, and both heaved for breaths of Nihility.
Taking a deep breath Luna looks at her frustrated not being able to process everything her sister said. "Have you been studying because this is too much information for my little brain to process and your brain should be the same size! What does anything you told me have to do with the question I asked!?" She yawns looking tired. "There's a Celestial moon tonight!" She smiles at her dumbfounded twin sister.
"Are you serious? The special moon thingy is going to happen tonight!?" "Yup!" Luna's frown and tiredness seems to wipe away and be replaced with sudden excitement. "Come on, come on!" Luna pulls her sisters arm with all her tiny might. "We have to see it!"
They raced to the front of the Galean revealing a better view of the moon than what the balcony could give. Luna's excitement slowly turned back into a frown. "Selene." She turned to her sister clenching her fists. "It's the same moon we see every night!?" "shhh, just watch!" Luna rolled her eyes at her sister and then watched the moon. Slowly but surely the moon started turning a beautiful, rare, dark shade of blue. It was such an exquisite site that it was almost dream like....
"Girls?" They both jumped, turning to see their mother walking towards them in a small light purple gown. Her blue hair, glowing bright along with the celestial moon. All Spacians had blue hair and skin of many beautiful shades, but when the moon would Rise high into the sky, the Royal family of Spacio's hair would glow light blue, it's one of the only ways to know if you were a royal.
Selene looked up at her mother. "Mom?" "isn't it beautiful?" Queen Chang'e came up and patted the top of her daughter's heads. Luna admired her mom's pretty dress and dark blue eyes. "yes, but your prettier mama." She smiled at her mother and giggled. The Queen picked Luna up and admired the moon as her daughter snuggled her head into her mother's shoulder. "Thank you, Luna, but the Celestial moon is very rare. In fact, this is the only time we Spacians don't sing to the moon." Selene and Luna both looked to their mother with confusion. Selene thought back to all the information she could find in books; nothing had mentioned who or how the moon stayed in the sky during a Celestial moon. She knew that when the day came the moon slowly turned into the sun and another species from a distant planet took over but that was it.
"Mom, i thought our voices were special, the only ones to keep the moon up in the sky and keep the cycle going?" her mother smiled down at her. Happy to see she was curious and hunted knowledge of their past and their planet. "It does, but there is another almost extinct species that also sings to the moon. They are called Celestials, and they are what causes the celestial moon. The only Celestial's that remain is the Royal family of Celan." Luna looked at her mother tiredly but curious. "Will we ever get to meet the Celestial's mama?" "Maybe, but no one knows where the Royal family is." This bit of information just gave Selene more questions and a rampaging head spin. "What on moon do you mean!?" She said out of frustration.
Her mother frowned. "Ever since their planet became a dying gas planet no one knows where the royal family went or even if they are still alive, but after having a Celestial moon six hundred and fifty-three years ago, hope remained, that they may still be alive." Luna smiled and clapped her hands at the intriguing story. "Wow!!!" The moon began to return to normal. Selene looked at her mother. "If their song can turn the moon such a lovely shade of blue, it must be an ever so lovely song." Her mother smiled. "I heard it sounds like an angel from the heavens." Luna frowned and looked at the moon. "If you really are out there, and the moon likes your song more than ours, I want to find you and hear it for myself!" She whispered to herself. The moon started to turn a bit yellow, and their mother walked inside still holding Luna, Selene followed.
"Alright girls, it's time for bed." Luna whined; "But I'm not tired anymore!" "Okay, but if you don't wake up before your sister, it's not my fault if she eats all the lupen. " Luna pushed away from her mother and jumped down from her arms. She sprinted as fast as her little legs would carry her to her room with her sister right behind. Their mother giggled and followed in pursuit but walked.
As soon as she gets to their room, she jumps in bed and sits up. "I'm tired now!!!" Her sister looked at her in disgust as she changed into her pajamas. "Ew, you didn't even change clothes Luna." Luna looked down at her dirty clothes and quickly got up and changed into her purple nightgown. She threw her dirty clothes in the basket and jumped back into bed. "I'm ready now!" Their mom laughed and smiled a sweet, gentle smile. "You're such a silly Spectro!" Luna nuzzled into her pillow. "Hey, those Lupens won't eat themselves, mama!" Her mother chuckled and wished them a good day turning off the lights and activating the blinds.
"Wait, mama!" "Ugh what now Luna!?" Her sister yelled from across the room. "I forgot Juno!" She frowned pointing to the small, stuffed, white rabbit holding a star between its paws. It was sitting on the dresser, and she never slept without it. It was a gift from their father before he had gone missing on a voyage to make peace the Rays. The ship had returned from the planet Rayas, but the whole crew and their father were gone. Not a single clue nor hint to what may have happened and no witnesses to point fingers. Her mother walked over to the dresser holding back a tear. She gently picked it up and handed it to her daughter. "There you go honey." She smiled kissing her daughter's forehead and finally left the room for the girls to sleep.
A while after everyone had fallen asleep, Luna had jumped up from her bed shaking. A fearful nightmare she had almost every other night grasped her. She grabbed her bunny Juno and snuck out of the bedroom. She then wondered off to the kitchen hugging Juno tightly to her chest. Her heart racing like crazy. Her eyes weren't used to the light bursting through the cracks of the blinds. She feared the Moon Walker in her dreams would pop up and take her away any second. Memories of the monster taking away the rest of her family and finding her mother's body when she woke up right in the kitchen.
She slowly peaked into the kitchen and breathed a sigh of relief as it was clear. She ran over and grabbed her space pod from its charging station. She stepped up and it levitated into the air. She flew through the hall and through the doors of the balcony, onto the roof top of the castle. She sat upon the roof top and admired the temple and town in the distance. The citizens worked hard and really looked up to her mother and she wanted to be just as good a queen as her. She sighed thinking she would never be as intelligent nor as beautiful ad kind as her mother.
Her eyes drifted up to the moon rise. Half the sun and half the moon. She admired its glow as the citizens all gathered in the temple started singing as they did every night. She hugged her knees and held her bunny close. "If there really is another moon species out there that sing to our moon, then why don't they want to meet us?" As she looked up, she noticed a shadow figure out of the corner of her eye reminding her of the nightmare. Her heart flared up in fear as she ducked her head behind her bunny. "N... Not the Moon Walker from my dreams!!!" She clenched her bunny and hid her face the best she could.
Suddenly, she felt something wrap around her foot, and then she was gone...What happened to Luna? Who took her? What really happened to her father? Does the Rayas planet truly want peace between the two planets? Who are the Celestials and what happened to them? Why are they in hiding? Will Luna get to eat a Lupen ever again?
So many questions but only one way to get answers...
