Throughout that week, Steffan continued with his newfound but effective tactics of making outrageous demands for dinner and as if fate was was on his side, Dolly would always come home from work looking all drained and stressed out.
He never offered a word of sympathy or comfort; instead, he would pretend not to notice anything unusual about her and would make his demand without the slightest hint of sympathy, making her life more miserable.
As expected, Dolly would end up exhausted, barely able to keep her eyes open after her bath before she collapsed into bed and sleep all through the night, thus sparing Steffan from her nightly harassment.
Playing the role of the 'understanding husband,' which was only in the morning, he would always settle for a simple breakfast, usually a bowl of plain oatmeal with a side of fresh fruit, and a cup of black coffee or just sandwich. It was basic, unassuming, and exactly what he needed to maintain his facade of complacency.
