Chapter 14: Steel Doors

It’s ten minutes past midnight, and we’ve been waiting for the guards to walk past above us, so we could start moving on out. This bunker was getting colder by the minute and I started to feel like an iceberg.

The place was quite organized. Each supply was placed nicely, and sharp utensils were wrapped. But this didn’t seem like a regular bunker. It must be hidden for a reason.

The more I stayed in this bunker, the more I wanted to know why Caleb even knew this place existed. I kept quiet for the sake of Caleb’s healing and keeping patience. But I need to understand why.

“If we’re going to be in life threatening situations like these, the least you can do is fill me in on things if we both want to make it out alive.” I addressed.

Caleb stopped and stared at the ceiling of the bunker.

“These parts of the woods were once owned by my grandpa...who built this bunker himself.”

“Why did he build a bunker?” I asked.
