CHAPTER 26 – Food Hunting.

"Let's start it," Haru said and pushed his mana inside the generator-type-looking machine.

*Vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

It made a noise while sucking his mana greedily, and then it started working and the lights in the whole camp ad estate started glowing.

"YEAH!!!" Everyone shouted together celebrating the success, be it the refugees, members of the right wing or Haru's group while Matsudo looked at his creation with pride.

It was a magical generator created on the principle of Haru's infinite mana and it worked on mana instead of fuel.

It was Haru who told Matsudo about this idea, he told him to modify the generator so that it could work on magic instead of fuel and then he added that make it so that it could absorb mana from nature, that was all it needed, putting an idea in Matsudo's mind and everything else will be provided by his skill.

He knew it would have been easier if they made a generator that worked using magic crystal but he didn't want to cut his SP supply so he gave the idea, and even if they knew about the crystals anyone would prefer a magical generator over the generator that worked with magic crystals as who would like to dissect the heads of the zombies that used to be human.

[Magical architect (Active/Passive) (U rank): You have a great passion for making things perform better. You can make anything as long as you get the idea of it and the world will make it possible to build anything as long as it is something that stays on land.

You can modify existing ideas to better suit your taste and any modification done by you would make the performance of those artifacts at least double if not more. Whenever you are working on creating or modifying something, you cannot focus on anything else unless you have completed the work, so, you are provided with a temporary shield that can block the attack of someone who is a full rank higher than you (There will be exceptions).]

Yeah, it's cheating, but it has clear drawbacks, he can't use any of his abilities in fighting, he can't get any new ideas unless someone puts those ideas in his mind and he can't make something that isn't connected to the ground.

Still, as long as he is given an idea, he can make it work no matter how absurd it is, though he would need adequate mana for it. He can create landmines but he can't create an atomic bomb or a missile neither can he make grenades or guns, but he can modify vehicles and even make large powerhouses as long as they are in contact with the ground.

At that time Shizuka and some members of the right wing came in and Shizuka smiled looking at the happy atmosphere so did the members of the right wing.

Haru had asked Shizuka to barricade the streets using trees that would block the zombies from entering and as Shizuka had levelled up close to C-rank, the D-rank zombies had little to no chance of breaking those barricades.

Shizuka had to use mana to strengthen the trees and then wait for a while to recover the do the same again, so, it took a whole afternoon for her to do it, but she did it in the end.

The whole area in a 500m radius with the mansion at the centre is now barricaded and the only open spaces are guarded by the members of the right-wing, so, now she is back after completing her task and she is happily looking at the smiles on everyone's face.

Haru had already collected enough food to take them a week or so to finish as along with the cleaning done by the refugees, they also collected the food from the neighbourhood, what would you expect from a rich neighbourhood?

There was lots of food in their stocks, left to be collected by some good people. They didn't need to worry about food anytime soon, so Haru took the liberty to delay the plan of looting nearby stores and complexes by a day.

"All right everyone back to your work," Haru said and everyone dispersed.

"Makoto, Akira," Haru said everyone gathered was going back, stopping those two.

Makoto Maeda is the one who leads the right-wing when Haru is not there, he can be called the second-in-command or right-hand-man for Haru. He awakened an ability called Gale Fist (B-rank), which allows him to coat his fist with a fast-rotating wind that gives his fist a rotating force along with protecting his fist from any harm.

As Haru had commanded, both Makoto and Akira stayed behind and waited for everyone to disperse. When everyone moved away, they looked towards Haru who nodded and spoke.

"I want ten people including you to be ready with four big vehicles before 8 in the morning." Haru directly said that to Makoto, who nodded his head in response.

"Yes, boss,"

"We are going food hunting tomorrow," Haru informed Makoto with a smile, even though he didn't need to as this is how he treats his subordinates.

Makoto nodded with a smile, turned around and then left to gather and inform ten people about the food hunting.

"I want you to keep an eye on those three people," Haru said to Akira after Makoto was gone while pointing at the three people who were unwilling to work.

Haru had seen them whispering to each other from time to time and he knew they were planning something, even though he was not scared and he could directly kill them, he was still not sure about their motives, so, he decided to make Akira keep an eye on them.

"Yes, Master," Akira bowed and turned to leave but stopped when she heard Haru continue.

"You are allowed to take action if needed." As Haru said that he saw Akira's eyes which always had respect and loyalty, flash with killing intent.

He was surprised but he didn't stop Akira from leaving as she nodded and moved to the camp not noticing Haru still staring at her. Haru knew that even if he stole her emotions, she would still gain back her emotions since emotions develop over time, but he didn't expect it to be this soon.

However, he was not scared, nor was he worried as he knew that even if she gained new emotions, her personality would be different and the base of her emotions or the most prominent emotion would always be respect and loyalty towards Haru.

"You guys must be hungry, let's get something to eat," Haru said as he turned to the group and the group nodded and moved inside the mansion.

No one found Akira calling Haru master weird as they thought she might be one of the staff from the mansion and they were also quite hungry from all the work and running around till now to focus on every small detail.

Haru woke and looked at Saeko who was sleeping in his arms, he smiled and kissed her head causing Saeko to wake up.

"Good morning," Haru said with eyes filled with love.

"Good morning," Saeko replied and moved to kiss his lips which Haru accepted eagerly.

They didn't do anything like last night, as Saeko was still feeling sore, she really did push herself too hard the other night. She didn't feel tired as Haru used his natural energy to energise her, but it did take a toll on her, making her unable to do it again in the night, but they still slept while hugging each other and sharing their warmth with each other.

"Let's get washed up," Saeko said and pulled Haru to the bathroom, for obvious reason.

They washed each other and wore their clothes then moved towards the living room.

"Are you sure you don't want to come along?" Haru asked as they walked in the hallway.

"Yes, we need someone strong to be here and since you're going, I think it's best for me to stay." Saeko replied and before Haru could say something she continued, "It's not like we cannot go for another trip with us alone." This made Haru swallow his words.

"As you wish," Haru said with a sigh and Saeko just smiled at it and held his hand, walking by his side, Haru also tightened the grip on her hand with a smile.

"Good morning, Haru-oniichan. Good morning, Saeko-oneechan." As they entered the living room they were greeted by cheerful Alice.

"Good morning, Alice." X2

They greeted her together with a smile and nodded to everyone else on the dining table. They sat on the empty seats and the maids served them their breakfast.

"Are you guys ready?" Haru asked as he finished his breakfast while looking at Kazuki, Rei, Miku, Shizuka and Kohta.

"Yeah," x4. They replied.

"Good, we will leave as soon as everyone is ready," Haru said and got up after giving Alice a last look.

Haru had noticed that this girl was still using her skill on people here and there unconsciously, though now, it didn't cause many problems as the cheering she did was not in a situation where everyone was in a severe mental state.

[Cheering empath (Active/Passive) (S+ rank): You can feel any kind of negative emotion from a living thing or a non-living thing, the emotions you can feel range from fatigue, guilt, and sadness to even the feeling of death. You can elevate these emotions to a degree with the use of mana while giving the said person or group of people a momentarily boost in their abilities and skills.

The boost provided depends on the mana used. The more this skill is used the more mental strain the user has to go through to use this ability next time, and if the ability is used even after the strain reaches its limit, then the user's mind will be broken, or the user will become apathetic.]

This was Alice's skill and Haru was going to steal it but only after talking to both Kenji and Alice, though he might just sell it to the system. Still, this skill was technically handmaid for him as its passive effect would work perfectly with his instant death skill, allowing him to discern which negative emotion was the killing intent laced with. As for the drawback, with his sane mind, did he have to worry about it? He didn't think so.

"Let's move out," Haru said as everyone was sitting in their respective vehicles.

There were four trucks along with the APC that Haru's group brought, three trucks had three members of right-wing in each of them, and the last truck had Makoto and Kohta in it while the APC had everyone else with Shizuka in the driving seat and Haru on the passenger seat next to her.

After Haru said the words, everyone started moving as these vehicles were modified by Matsudo, they didn't need to worry about any zombie as long as it was not D-rank max or higher. So, they just drove over any zombies they found while Haru stole their magic crystals.

'What's the count, Sisty?' Haru asked Sisty and she replied, easily understanding what he asked.

[5346 F-ranked crystals, 213 E-rank crystals and 13 D-rank crystals.]

'Oh, nice.' Haru had collected the crystals from every zombie in the area that was killed by the group, so, the numbers were high.

The number of E-raked ones killed by Haru was also high and Haru had guessed that he only needed one or two E-ranked stats to finally take his stats to B from B- when it's not even been a week since the start of the apocalypse.

'Sell every crystal except 10 F-ranked, 2 E-ranked and 1 D-raked then tell me the total SP.' Haru said and he got his reply.

[Your total points after adding the crystals and the points from killing zombies is 277873.] (Author note: I had made an approximate sum of everything so please don't ask me to get into details.)

Haru was obviously happy with the increase in the number, but he didn't show any reaction outwards and also ignored the gaze Shizuka had been giving him from time to time.

They looted some stores along the way and had to send a truck back since it was filled with supplies, they also sent two guys to guard it till it reached the Takagi estate. With two people out of the group, the others continued on the way and the third guy from the truck that had left joined Kohta and Makoto on their truck.

Haru could have taken Takashi with him as well but he didn't since now he was thinking of slowly moving away from Takashi. He would still help Takashi find his mother, but that was it and that too because he had promised that he would conduct a search for everyone.

He knew that Takashi as a protagonist would always try to butt in on every kind of situation and that didn't fit well with Haru, so, he decided that instead of killing Takashi it was better to just ignore him from now on.

Haru stopped thinking about any other things and started engaging in random chit-chat with the girls, they only stopped when they reached a large shopping complex.

They had reached the 'Taiei ShopingTown' which is the place where the group had met with Asami Nakaoka in the canon. There was a chance that Kohta and Asami had some kind of chemistry later in the story, but Asami died in the canon.

Haru was not going to let that happen this time as he wanted Kohta to live a life as a man and to become a complete man he needed to get a woman, now, Asami was going to be that woman. However, he was not going to meddle if their story didn't work out or they didn't even get into a relationship, he was just going to give Kohta a little push, that's all.
