Carl moved very carefully. Now, he calmly read the terrain through the familiar visor and slowly advanced, careful of enemy surprise attacks and traps. Then, he stopped at a sufficient distance from where the narrow valley widened.
"We will take up residence here and block those who run away."
"Yes," Philaine answered a little louder, feeling a bit embarrassed that he had worried Carl might tell him to go in there.
Going from a narrow place to a wide one suddenly is no different from committing suicide. It is tactically the best terrain for defenders because they can concentrate their attacks on one point. On the other hand, from an attacking standpoint, it is a place that must never be entered.
"Lady Catherine and Philaine, please break off the attack on the soldiers."
