A Trap

18th century.The kingdom of Pheridor:

Normally kings who rule kingdoms, especially big and strong kingdoms are well known for their seriousness, calmness, tranquillity, and for not showing their emotions most of the time.

That is the typical cliché king that everyone other than people that live in the royal palace thinks the king of the Phridor kingdom is like.

"Elsie, hand me another glass and come dance with us." Said the twenty-seven-year-old king of Pheridors with a wide exciting smile on his face while jumping around and dancing with the servants and odalisques in the dancing hall.

Elsie who is one of the odalisques of the king chuckled and rushed to bring another glass of wine for the king who was dancing in the middle of the hall with two male servants and two odalisques while ignoring the hundreds of problems that need to be solved in his office.

Augustine is a tall man with broad shoulders and strong muscles that he got due to the tough training that he needed to receive when he was a crown prince also the one he received after he took the throne.

His majesty is a very handsome man. He has black thick hair, and dark brown eyes and due to his thick eyelashes, his eyes look very intimidating which makes his whole aura feel and seem dark and scary to everyone who sees him.

Although Augustine is a very dangerous person with all the power and authority that he has against his enemies, he is still the kindest, most generous, and most humble king among his loyal people.

With his rivals, his majesty taught all his soldiers that everything is allowed in love and war. All that matter is to win and stay alive.

The king stopped dancing just so that he can take the glass from Elsie without spilling it out all over the place while he was panting because he did not stop dancing for the past half an hour which is why he tiredly walked to his assigned seat in the dancing hall to have a break and can still watch his servants and odalisques dance to the music that was erupting inside the hall by the team who are responsible for playing the musical instruments whenever his majesty wants to take a break from the throne and change his boring routine.

"Stop the music, I need to talk to the king privately." Suddenly the happiness that the servants and odalisques were feeling while dancing together for the king died down when the vice minister suddenly stormed inside the hall asking the team to stop playing the music and respectfully get out of the room to leave him alone with the king who sighed and furrowed his eyebrows in frustration since he hates when people interrupt his break in the dancing hall.

His majesty wants to have some fun even though having fun while being the king of such a huge kingdom with many responsibilities is almost impossible.

Everyone inside the room glanced at the king waiting for his order since they can not just leave because the vice minister or anyone else told them to leave especially because coming and staying inside this room is the king's order.

"You all can leave and come later." The servants and odalisques bowed to his majesty and left before being followed by the musical team who did the same and made sure to close the door of the hall behind them.

The king clicked his tongue in frustration before pouring the entire glass of wine inside his mouth after raising his index finger toward the vice minister as a sign to him to wait until he finishes his drink "What do you want, Victor? I only get the chance to have this break once every two months and I hate being interrupted."

"Austin, shut up and listen to what I have just found out. The spies... Our spies that were in the caves which we thought were secret caves and nobody knows about them, got caught by king William and they are now in jail." Victor reported with a panicked expression on his face informing the king of the bad news that was delivered to him by one of the guards.

Victor and the king have been friends since they were just kids because Victor's father was also one of the ministers of the kingdom which is why when he died because of old age, Augustine put Victor in his father's position and also that's why Victor calls the king by his name and talk to him like any two friends do.

Augustine silently looked at Victor before scoffing "And why are you panicking? We did not lose the war or something."

"I don't know, how you can be so chill about things like this, Austin." Victor wondered in disbelief while looking at the king who got up and walked to the bottle of wine so that he could pour another glass.

Victor gazed at the king waiting for an answer while Augustine was just slowly pouring wine in his glass and facing the vice minister with his back before turning around with a grin on his face then he rested his back on the table behind him and looked back at his friend who was still looking at him with a questionable look on his face "Because those spies that they got, aren't my main source of information. In fact, they are not even spies. Those two were just a distraction or a trap or whatever you want to call it."

"Austin, can you just stop talking in mystery as if it's something cool and just go straight to the point ." Augustine chuckled when he noticed how impatient his friend is then he drank his glass of wine before placing the empty glass back on the table and walking toward his friend

"See Victor, William thinks he got my spies who know where the secret tunnel is, but the truth is that they have no idea. My spies are INSIDE that tunnel. It's a distraction because William will try his best to get information out of them and a trap because now he is positive that he got something very important such as my spies, but he did not. I have full access to his royal palace... Actually, I have access to his own bedroom, but I still haven't done anything to any of them."

"If you already have that access why don't you just go and finish everything easily." Victor questioned while following the king who seemed to be heading out of the royal palace but when he heard his friend's question he turned around and looked at him with a playful smile "And where is the fun in that?"

"What do you want exactly, Austin?"

That playful smile instantly vanished into thin air as his eye darkened before hopping on his horse " I want the kingdom of Deprekia under my control, but I don't want it easy. I want to make them regret what they did to my people in the past. We will declare the war on them, but we will wait until the crown prince comes back from his training. I want to end the bloodline of Whitely. I don't want any of them to survive. Also, don't forget that the crown prince is important to William because he is his only son from his dead wife. Taking down the crown prince will automatically make William fall then our part will come to make his kingdom fall with him."
