Grimm Palace
Freddy took Vincent to his new room. "This room belongs to you now, Young Lord Grimm. It has a bathroom, training room, and relaxation room as well. If you need anything, shout out for a servant, and one will come to attend to your needs."
Vincent nodded his head at Freddy as he left. When the door was finally shut, he flopped onto the bed and let go of all his body's tension. He pulled up his system menu mentally and went to his mailbox.
Countless notifications were informing him of how many wrath points he had.
"System filter out the notifications about wrath points for now." The system did as ordered. What was left were notifications about new features and skills he unknowingly unlocked. He ignored his stats and focused on the new features and abilities that became available to him.
[Congratulations Host! The vengeful state has been unlocked. The skill Fear Control has been unlocked. The skill Bloodlust has been unlocked. The mission and quest tab has been unlocked, and please claim rewards from there.]
[Vengeful state is the state Host enters when they hold back their wrath and focus it on one person. They will do anything to get their revenge on that individual. Please note that the Host currently cannot control this state, so it is advised to breathe during those times.]
"That explains my actions against the reporter tonight. Is that also why I feel no guilt in being responsible for his death?" Vincent clearly remembers what transpired and feels like he wasn't in charge of his body, but someone else was.
[Fear Control allows the Host to induce, remove, and manipulate someone's fear. A villain does inspire hope but brings despair to others!]
[Bloodlust is how badly the Host wants to kill someone. Imposing your Bloodlust can incite chaos and fear and invoke a bloodbath. This skill also helps the Host adapt to seeing blood.]
Vincent sighed, leaned back on the bed, and stared at the ceiling. He wanted nothing more than to sleep and wake up on Earth again. He looked at the constant blinking tab called missions and sighed again. 'If only I had a nickel for every time I sighed.' He clicked on it, and it displayed the missions he needed to complete and the ones that were hidden.
[Kill your first human- completed]
[Perform your first live execution- completed]
[Hidden Mission- Kill someone in front of someone else and not be arrested-completed]
Vincent claimed the rewards from the missions.
[The rewards have all been deposited in the Host's inventory.]
Vincent looked inside his inventory and checked out the new items that were now in there.
A book titled 'How to Disassemble a Human' was in there. A halberd named Executioneers Partner was thher. Finally, there was a skill book called Misdirection. Vincent ignored the first one and took out the halberd from his inventory.
The halberd was nine feet long, not including the spear tip. The back of it was not a downward curve like most halberds but was instead blunt and shaped like a hammer. It was blue, like a sapphire from the deepest oceans. The blade's edge sparkled as if cut from stained glass. A red ribbon and an overfilled goblet were at the top, where everything was joined together. It was as if the liquid was soaking the ribbon.
The weapon enamored Vincent. He had never seen something so deadly yet so beautiful. He moved to pick it off the floor but could not move it. It was too heavy. He reluctantly put it back into his inventory until he was strong enough to wield it.
He clicked on the skill book, which popped up under his skills tab. He didn't bother checking the description of it. He even clicked on the first one. Knowledge of how to break down a human's mind was automatically inserted into his brain. He didn't dwell on that as he got up to shower and head to bed.
Grimm Palace Throne Room
"Freddy, what is your evaluation of the boy?" A man sat lazily on the throne and waited for an answer. "The boy shows great promise, Lord Grimm. I assume his system has a unique ability to do what he did." The man nodded along as he thought the same.
"What of his character? I know his background already, but I want to know how that affected his mental state."
"From what I saw, the boy has self-esteem issues and anger issues as well. When we walked throughout the hospital, people stared at him, and he made sure not to make eye contact with them. He stuck so close to me that it made me think of him like a cub chasing after his mother. The only redeeming moment was when I gave him an order to look straight and not to fall."
The man nodded in silence as he thought about Freddy's evaluation. "Do you not think he redeemed himself outside with how he handled the idiotic reporter?" Freddy's tone changed to one of seriousness.
"I do not count that because he was not doing those actions. When his anger crossed his threshold, he released Bloodlust but was still in control of himself. His mannerisms also changed."
The man sighed and shook his head. "Very well, I will call a family meeting and have him attend it. I am thinking about putting Ryker in charge of him for now. The blood ritual will depend on Ryker's evaluation of the boy."
Freddy agreed with the preparations. "I also suggest you send him to the academy, Lord Grimm. The palace is too gloomy for someone his age, and making friends will positively affect him."
Lord Grimm nodded and tapped on his armrest once. A maid appeared almost instantly. "See to it that the boy goes to the academy starting tomorrow." The maid vanished without responding to complete her master's orders.
