Chapter 2 : The First Change

[Somewhere in Japan]

"Ahh, I'm tired. Why do I have to go to work this early every time?"

A salaryman was walking from his home to his workplace when suddenly he saw a faint blue light from an alleyway.

Curious, he went towards the alley & what he saw surprised him.

"What is that ?"

There's a blue portal(?) in front of him, he then called the police as everyone started to gather around him observing the portal.

"Everyone, please keep a safe distance."

The police set up a perimeter around the portal and evacuated the residents on both sides of the alleyway.

A group of scientists alongside some military personnel make a tent, nearby the portal as they were afraid of what is going to happen when they went inside.

"This is incredible, the portal is emitting some kind of energy that we never knew existed before. It was something more potent than a nuclear reactor, which could be used to benefit the world." -scientist A

"Should we set up an energy harvester here?" -scientist B

"Stop, debating about whether or not we could better think about if we should do it. This portal is weird, we need to report our findings to the higher-ups first." - head scientist

"Roger."

[In an office]

"What is their report?"

"They found that the gate was emitting some kind of energy which could be harvested to be used, but they aren't sure about what causes the energy to be emitted in the first place."

"I see, have the others decided if we are going to send people in to scout the place?"

"They haven't decided yet..."

The phone on his table rang, as the man sitting waved his hand and the others walked out of the room.

"Hello, prime minister of Japan speaking."

"...."

"What? Other places in the world were also spotted with a blue gate appearing. What are the others?"

"Here are the eight countries which reported having found a blue portal in their country border. China, Russia, Canada, USA, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia. "

"I see, I'm going to get ready to have a conference with them."

[Somewhere in the USA]

"So, today we gather here to discuss the appearance of blue portals in our countries. Does anyone have any idea about what causes it to appear?" -USA

"Our researchers have found out that the portal emits some kind of energy which could be beneficial for our world."-Japan

"I believe that we should send some soldiers to scout inside the portal if we keep on waiting who knows if the portal will expand." - Russia

"Seconded" - China

"Who else agrees?"-USA

The other countries raised their hands.

"Alright, let's call this operation 'Gate-Scouting' as a top-secret operation and share our discovery about the blue portals. If nothing else, let this meeting be adjourned."

Everyone nodded and leaves the room.

[Near the portal]

In front of the portal, there are 100 soldiers fully armed, preparing themselves to scout the dungeon.

"Attention, we're going to enter the portal. Keep our formation and be alert as we don't know what is in there."

"We're divided into 5 divisions, the scout division will be our front-line and will scout the area first, the assault division is responsible to fight any threats, the support division will carry our supplies and our medical needs, the communication division will help us communicate with each other, and finally our backline the sniper who will support our fights."

The soldiers were nervous as they were basically being sacrificed by the nation to find out about what was inside the gate. But for their country, they're okay with sacrificing themselves. Since they joined the army they're already aware of the dangers of this profession.

"What do you think about this operation Goto-san?"

As they're preparing to enter. A man with light green eyes and brown hair talked to a man with shaggy black hair and a trimmed beard.

"My feeling tells me that, this operation is very dangerous. Even so, I'm still gonna go."

"As expected of you, Goto-san..."

"You're usually confident Reiji, what gives?"

"Well, I also felt the same as you."

"Everyone gather, let's enter."

"Let's go then Goto-san."

They then gather with the rest of the soldiers.

Rino was washing the plate, when suddenly

"Nii-chan, do you like Shiraishi-san?"

Tanaka who is sleeping on the couch was startled

"How do you know Rino?"

"I'm basically your twins you know, even though I'm your sister. I know what are you thinking about."

'What the? Is this the so-called connection between siblings?'

*yawn* "Yeah, I like her Shiraishi-san is a really nice person. She also always helps me when I'm asleep, not only that she's the 2nd person after Oota to watch over me."

Rino was slightly surprised but then chuckled lightly.

"You really like her right Nii-chan? That's the longest sentence you've ever spoken about a person"

"I know, I like her."

Tanaka smiled brightly, Rino was surprised.

'Nii-chan really loves her, doesn't he... Damn, my heart hurt...'
