Chapter 3

It isn't a dream.

Standing in front of me is the boy. HIs hair is black as midnight, skin a pale white, with blue eyes that peer into my soul. He just stands there, unmoving, but with a confused look on his face.

"I see that you're up. You think you can handle some breakfast," i speak, voice husky.

The boy simply nods. Shrugging, i head to the kitchen, the boy not far behind, and begin to make breakfast.

"Do you have any pare-"

"They don't want me," He interrupts.

"....Then can I be your father then," I ask, cautiosly.

"You'll just give me away like the others."

". . . My actions will speak louder than words. But i promise that i will move hell and heaven to make sure you're okay. You're my son, and I don't like when people hurt those i care for."

He nods, softly.

"What's your name?"

"Silas, Silas Whitlock."

"Rowan Amir Spade. That makes you Silas Spade," i smile at him. "How old are you?"

"I'm ten, but I turn eleven November 13."

"So you're a big boy I see," I tease.

The small conversation contiunes as I cook. That is until, Silas asks how he's still alive.

"You know how our world works right?"

"Yes. The weak die, and the strong live."

"Not necessarily, however, because you were dying, and i couldn't get you the right help in time, I had to turn you."

"Turn me?"

"Yes, I turned you into a vampire," I wince. I mean, I took away his choice. Sometimes people are prepared to die, and-

"You saved my life, that's all that matters," he cuts through my thoughts.

We eat in silence and once done, start to clean ourselves up. i get him a toothbrush and set him up as best as I can for today.

'Meet me at the mall in town.'

Dressed in black swears with a red shirt, a black hoodie on top, with black socks and running shoes, I get some small clothes for Silas even though they swallow him anyway.

"This'll have to do now, but we're going shopping, so pick out anything you like," i assure.

"Okay."
