The Emperor of Arcanis

I, Karlus Uriel Vexus, the first of my name, was an emperor loved by the people.

Ha! Of course, by my dear wife too. Without the two of us, you and your eight siblings might not be here. We have so much passion, don't we?

So, how about I tell you my life story?

Let's start with how I reached the position of being an emperor despite being the illegitimate son of the previous one. Then my hardships, my accomplishments, and then…

You didn't like that, did you?

Tsk. Don't tell me you plan to drop this letter as soon as you read it?

What an insolent son!

My dear sons, I know I've told you that story many times already. It must be why you are hesitating to read this letter. But how can I not? My amazingness and greatness are shown in those tales.

Now go and continue reading this letter or else you'll be impotent for the rest of your life.

You all should be thankful that I'm handsome, or else you wouldn't have such good-looking faces.

Did you know that women flocked to me when I was your age? I received hundreds of wedding proposals but declined them all for your dear mother. She's the greatest beauty and the love of my life, after all.

I have only loved one woman in my life. And I hope, my dear sons, you would too.

As your dear father, I am truly saddened that this is my last letter to all of you. I may not have spent as much time with you as I wanted, being busy with state affairs and leading the empire. However, I am truly grateful to have such honorable children.

I guess the tree really bears the same fruit.

I am amazing, I know. You don't need to tell that to my face. I have heard all kinds of compliments in my entire life. So create a new one if you want to compliment your father.

Setting that aside, you might not see me anymore as you read this letter, my dear sons, but fear not, as you all still have a long way to go.

In my years as emperor, I can happily say I had no regrets in life. I did everything I wanted and needed to do. I stabilized the empire and accomplished feats that are now written in history that are set to be remembered for generations to come.

My sons as I depart in the world, I only have one advice to all of you. Remember to live your life without any regrets. Be there for each other and always prioritize the people's interests and the greater good of our empire.

Be like your dear father, who achieved everything he set his mind to. But remember to enjoy life, or it will be tiring in the end. It was something that I failed to do.

Don't fear failure or defeat; fear having what-ifs.

I know you're all amazing since you came from my seed. I didn't shoot you outside for a reason.

As I end this letter, I have one final request for all of you.

Please bury me beside your dear mother. I know she's already waiting for me for years. I hope to see her in the afterlife. And maybe we could continue our story there.

I will miss you all.

From your loving father, the emperor of the empire,

Karlus Uriel Vexus I.
