Chapter 21: Playing the Victim, Who Can't?

Xia Wanwan's steps halted as she was about to go upstairs. She turned around, and her piercing gaze fell sharply on Xia An'an. "What did I say to make you look so pitiful? I'm just not staying for dinner, that's all. Why does it seem like you're stepping back and I somehow appear to be doing something terribly vicious?"

Xia An'an didn't expect Xia Wanwan to suddenly pull such a move. In her eyes, Xia Wanwan had always disliked her, but she had kept it restrained.

Even with the engagement banquet issue, she had managed to hold back, never expecting Xia Wanwan to suddenly make a complete 180-degree turn in attitude and lay everything out so clearly.

She bit her lip, "Sister, that's not what I meant."

"If that's not what you meant, then please don't do things that could lead to misunderstandings," Xia Wanwan spoke with a voice and expression that were both very cold, softening only slightly when she saw the troubled look on her mother's face.
