I have to say, the odds were not looking like they were in our favor. There were hundreds – no, thousands – of demons around us, some on their feet, some circling us from the sky.
And when Volkova said now, they all attacked at the same time.
I started casting spells like I have never cast before in my life. Balachkos were roaring loudly, stamping the ground and making everything shake. If there was a castle, I was sure if would’ve collapsed under them. Beda demons, bauks, chorts, drekavacs, likhos, and all the other scary creatures that your grandparents used to scare you with, were all present.
In the mayhem, I lost track of where Nevena and Volkova were. The demons seemed to be interested in completely wiping me off the face of the earth. But I also couldn’t leave Valeria’s helpless body again and have her get stomped by a balachko – a three headed giant, fueled by rage. And there were at least dozens of them.
