Chapter 34: A Blinding Light

Desmond acted before Mykel could try to stop him. He turned towards the bulbous thing at the room’s center and ran right for it. Behind him, he could hear Mykel’s voice calling for him and the rush of his footsteps. But there wasn’t anything that was going to stop Desmond now. If this was the only way he could break the curse, then he was going to do what he had to. It was true, he had no idea what might happen once it was over, but it had to be better than a continuous cycle of death.

“Desmond!” Mykel called to him just as he neared the pulp.

Mykel’s call fell on deaf ears though because once Desmond got close enough to the thing for it to reach out and take him again, he held his palms out to it. His hands were just mere inches away from the pulsating surface of the black mass. Desmond mustered up all the strength he could within himself and forced it out through his palms.
