Chapter 1

Birds chirping in the distance, the smell of spring in the air and, silence. A very comfortable silence. My first impression was that I might have been in an infirmary, but with ongoing war, me as a five star general, I couldn't be gone for too long. Also, the smell of sweets and flowers put off the idea of an infirmary.

"They are supposed to smell like disinfectant and death if it ever had a scent." I thought to myself while smiling. Still worried, I felt around me and realized that I was in some soft sought of bed. Clearly an infirmary wouldn't waste money on such an item. A war was going on!

"Oh, you're awake? Good, we need to talk."

A voice from my right startled me, bringing it to my attention that I was not alone.

"Is this the infirmary? How is the war going? Is it over? Did we win?" I asked in one breath as I tried to sit up. I needed some answers so that I could plan my next step. What baffled me was that instead of answers, I got laughed at!!

I turned to the source and saw a group of hooded people, maybe four or five. One was seated while the rest were all standing. They were all currently shaking with laughter though it was not so visible on those standing like on the one who was seated. His laugh was akin to that of a mad dog. Usually, a snide remark would have left my mouth by now but as I was in an unusual place, I had to play dumb.

"Oh wow, what a good laugh! It's been a while since I last had one, but wrong time." Said the guy who was laughing with a strange expression on his face. I couldn't tell if he was about to have a stroke or if he was being serious. His face turned rigid and unmoving, like the man who was laughing was just a mirage and the air around seemed stifled and heavy with gun powder.

"We warned you of the consequences of trying to seek help from other people but it seems that you first need a reminder of your situation." He added as he stretched out his hand. Immediately, the air around his hand warped and created something akin to an apparition.

I strained my eyes and focused on the image created. It looked like a little ball of fur at first but I later realized that it was a boy. He was curled up in a corner, shivering either from cold, pain or hunger or maybe all three. I felt sorry for me and my heart felt familiar with the boy's silhouette.

As I strained my eyes even more, two men entered and poured on him water, presumably cold seeing as he was jolted awake. They started hitting him and I felt my heart ache and bleed for the little boy. I shut my eyes as the sight was horrendous.

"Well, I think you finally get the gist of the matter. So, any other funny ideas and this time they both get it." After saying this, he swooshed his coat and they all disappeared, leaving me wondering just who the little boy was and where I was.

"Maybe if I look around, I will get a clue." I thought and tried to stand up. A searing pain tore through my body and mind as I felt something awaken within me and something being forcefully stuffed into my head. Due to my weak body and mental state, I seeped once again to the recesses of my mind.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Groggily waking up with a yawn, I felt that my body was lighter and I seemed to breathe even better. I sat up and stretched my hands and what other parts of my body I could stretch. It had been a while since I had last had such enjoyable sleep due to the war against aliens for earth and it felt good.

"Maybe the war has ended." I say out loud as I try to rub the sleep from my eyes as I turned my head from the left to the right trying to figure out exactly where I was. At that moment, a certain stool caught my eye and I felt like I was losing my mind.

"Something is wrong!" This was the first to come to my mind as I felt a bomb go off in my head, jolting me awake. I hurriedly jumped out of bed and looked around and found a mirror. Looking into it, I realized that I did not know the person who stared back.

Pale pink hair, a tall stalked frame and a naïve look on a doe like face. The face had a small button nose and thin lips, her limbs seemed to be made of spaghetti and she looked like she had never worked a single day in her life.

"What happened to my sturdy frame? All the muscles and the scars?" I shouted at the reflection feeling vexed. Rubbing my palms, I realized that they were as smooth as a baby's bottom. And then there was my repulsive hair. Though it was pink, at least it was not a repulsive shade.

"Pale pink is not so bad. It even compliments my blue eyes. But I am so skinny, I think even a gale can blow me away. And also this almost floor sweeping hair. What's with that? I miss my buzz cuts and bobs." I thought with slight relief and disdain as I really gazed at the reflection. She was what they called a delicate beauty. She exuded poise and grace without even trying yet she had an innate aura of arrogance about her.

"Maybe she is some royal." I thought before laughing at my silliness. I looked again in the mirror and asked myself a question.

"Where am I? Who am I?" I ask no one, thing particularly. I feel that this was the nth time I was asking this question and I was nowhere near the answer and it was frustrating. Suddenly, information poured into my mind and I felt like I had become a different person. I had to sit down and let my mind cool off from the pressure as I processed the information that had just entered my knowledge bank.

The person whose body I had occupied I think was called Ira. Yes, no last name. She was just an orphan who had a little brother. She looked very much like one of the princess of the kingdom Eutania, Princess Laura Inez Helga. Hence, she and her brother were kid napped and she was forced to learn royal etiquette so that she could replace the princess. A few months after their kidnap, the princess is also kidnapped and thus, she starts her journey of replacing the princess.

The reason as to why she had fallen unconscious was because the previous owner had had a scuffle with the other noble children, the royal cousins, and she had been knocked unconscious! On top of that, she is nasty and rude, mean even to their sweet grandma who is the ruler of the kingdom, Queen Ella Helga. As if that is not enough, she lacks any special powers whatsoever!!

"Wait, wait, and wait. Is this that transmigration, reincarnation stuff I had read before from Lisa's books? This can't be! I was sure that I had died from an explosion with the guys! I hope they are ok and alive." I said as I broke down into tears. I let them flow because for the first time I felt vulnerable.

In my previous life, I was a four star general only second to someone I treated as a big sister, Phiona. There was a war against the aliens who had invaded earth and all those alive were supposed to help in the war. I knew no one as my parents had died in some attack maybe. I don't remember much anyway. It's all foggy and clouded.

As I wandered in bodies and the stench of death, a nice and kind old man found me and brought to the largest human base.

"You'll be the definition of strength one day." He had said and indeed, I became it. He was a four star general and I followed his footsteps and became one. I would go on dangerous rescue missions and infiltration operations hence earning me military points that helped in my promotions. Our greatest inspiration was a certain old man whom we called grandpa. Unfortunately, he went AWOL.

I had a group of friends who had been with me since young and we were the squadron with the greatest achievements. Phiona, the eldest was a five star general and also a five star general's daughter. Mandy was a lieutenant general and her mother was a part of the SEALS. We had a little mascot, Lukas, a seven year old who would always follow any of us around crying big sister or big brother. Drake was a brigadier general only a few points from upgrading when the accident happened.

We were for a mission to rescue some hostages when a bomb went off nearby and it triggered a chain reaction from other bombs nearby. We saved the hostages but we couldn't save ourselves. And yes, Lukas was there. He had somehow managed to follow us so we had all died together.

I wept with a heavy heart at how my friends had lost their lives.

"Those dodo heads never listen to orders! I told them to leave but they insisted on staying and now they are gone and it's my entire fault! Why? Why did things come to this?" I cried out. I was in too much pain. We were the best of the best. How could we lose our live just like that?!

I sat on the floor and wept for what felt like forever and discovered something.

It all started with a stupid ring that I had picked up!
