As promised, Nina managed to gather up both Jennifer and Micaela and bring them along. I'd put on my new embroidered wine-colored Johnny Was jacket, my favorite pair of dark jeans, and some dark brown kitten-heeled boots and thought I was looking pretty good — at least until
I opened the door and took a look at Nina. She had on a slinky jersey top in a dark green that somehow caused her eyes to glow like a cat's, and the jeans she wore made her legs look as if they went on forever.
Oh, who am I kidding? I thought. Her legs do go on forever.
