From the ambulance, Dai Fengge's outbursts could still be heard after his treatment.
"Let me go! Why am I being handcuffed? I will kill that old hag! She killed my Mom! I won't spare her! I will kill that doctor too!"
Mingshen's dark eyes glowed with thrill. "Isn't he so gutsy to declare that? How about I break that guts too like how I broke his nose?"
He whistled and made his way towards the ambulance when he heard a click sound. He looked down and found his wrists handcuffed. It was such a lightning fast move by Jia that Mingshen was too slow to react.
A sinful smile played on his lips. "I didn't know that Spicy was into BDSM. It's a new side I have discovered. But like always, I am happy to cooperate~"
Jia returned his smile with her own. "Thank you for your cooperation, Dr. Yang. Not that I asked for it. Huojin."
He coughed. "Yes?"
"Take Dai Fengge AND Yang Mingshen - both to the bureau."
Mingshen blinked. "I think there is a misunderstanding, Spicy. You said 'AND Yang Mingshen.'"
"Correct."
"There is only one Yang Mingshen and that is me, which is always by your side as your partner~"
"Time for this partner of mine to breathe a jail's air for sometime," she patted his shoulder, "Good luck. I am sure you will do just fine because I am taking you to your real home."
Jia said, looking at Dai Meihui, "Mrs. Dai. You are free to leave once Huojin takes your statement about today's incident. He can then drop you home."
Huojin nodded. "Sure."
Dai Meihui shook her head. "No need for trouble. I will drop Yun to the daycare and head to the office."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Thank you for offering the ride."
Jia then looked at the Ma family. "Miss. Ma. You can go back home and take some good rest. I am sorry you had to deal with this when you were just discharged yesterday. We pretty much have everything we need."
She gently smiled. "Thank you, dear."
Ma Wenyan said, "Yanyu, Mom, let's go back."
"No, I will go back to the office," Ma Yanyu said with a tinge of irritability in her voice.
She let out a frustrated sigh and turned to walk away. But two steps later, she stumbled on her feet, feeling dizzy.
"Yanyu!"
With his scream, Jia and Huojin immediately rushed to their side.
Ma Zhilan worriedly asked, "What happened?"
"Yanyu…Yanyu suddenly fell unconscious!" His face paled with deathly worry. "Yanyu! Can you hear me?"
Dai Meihui quickly bent on her knee and patted her back to comfort her. "Don't worry, Mr. Ma. She is fine. I think she is just feeling nauseous."
"Nauseous?"
Jia pressed her fingers against her neck and felt her pulse. "Her heartbeat feels normal. Nurse!"
One of the nurses from the ambulance van quickly arrived to check Ma Yanyu. However, she too, couldn't find anything wrong with her on the outside. "We should take her to the hospital to check for the cause. She is not injured in any way."
"Me! Me! There is one handsome doctor here who can help. But unfortunately, he is handcuffed. Alas…only if his hands were not tied…" a sigh escaped his lips.

Before he knew it, Jia unlocked the cuffs and removed them. "Check Ma Yanyu."
"Hey, that was easy~" he raised his brow.
"Helping civilians in need is more important than dealing with you anytime. Don't let it get to your head," she scorned. "Please check her and tell us what's wrong."
"Yanyu…" Ma Wenyan laid his wife on the bench and supported her head with his palm for her comfort.
Mingshen carefully gauged her condition from head to toe, noticing all the minor twitches and movements. She wasn't fully unconscious but was slipping in and out of it. He took her pulse and then proceeded with his checkup.
"Hm. Thought so," he shrugged.
Ma Zhilan asked with concern, "Thought what?"
"She is pregnant."
Her lips parted in shock. It took a moment for the news to register. "O-oh my! Yanyu…" she held her hands, joy illuminating her face.
Ma Wenyan held a similar reaction and his eyes beamed with pure bliss. "Yanyu!" He pulled her into his arms, his eyes turning misty.
Jia widened her eyes. "Congratulations."
Though she noticed that Ma Yanyu didn't seem to return the sentiments that her family was feeling as if she wasn't so thrilled about the news.
Strange.
Jia smiled, seeing how Ma Zhilan was still trying to wrap her head around this good news. "Must feel exhilarating, right?"
"Yes and more so because it's unexpected. Since Yanyu is very close to getting her promotion, it didn't even cross my mind that they might be planning for a child right now. Wenyan, what is this?" She threw him a soft glare. "You could have told me."
Ma Wenyan cleared his throat. "We weren't actually. Things just…" The embarrassment was crystal clear.
Xiyang's number flashed on her cell, and she stepped aside to talk to him. "Yes, Xiyang."
"Mam. We received an important update regarding Wu Yue. She was found unconscious at Jishuitan station. Somebody hit her on the head and escaped. She hadn't returned home since she left the bureau yesterday."
"What? I am coming."
Mingshen curiously walked up to her.
"Wu Yue has been found unconscious at Jishuitan," she informed him. "She hadn't returned home since yesterday. I am heading there. Did your men find any leads for the drug supply chain?"
He lazily popped his knuckles. "My men are scouring lines 1, 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 5 and 17 of the subway. I am expecting a report soon enough. Let's go, partner! Time for a thrilling chase~"

Unfortunately, there was no means to question Wu Yue as she was unconscious and still under treatment at the nearby hospital.
Mingshen said, coming out of her ward and taking off his mask, "Somebody struck her head with a blunt object, possibly some steel rod or similar sort. It will take another twenty-four hours for her to wake up. Even then, I will have to check how she fares in the memory department. There could be short term memory loss because of the concussion."
"Damn!" She clicked her tongue.
Jia studied the CCTV in her tab. Wu Yue was at a relatively isolated place within Jishuitan station. The camera angle wasn't wide enough to fully capture her and the culprit. A few minutes later, a shadow was seen fleeing away hastily from the spot.
"Naturally, they chose this spot on purpose."
Huojin pointed out. "It was late at night too. 12.21 AM. Almost nil crowd to witness anything. Easy to flee. The question is why she was attacked. This should have been a regular meeting."
Jia pondered. "She was at the hospital to take medications for her addiction. What if she met the supplier to say that she wanted to get out of this system? He might have taken it as a threat. It must have led to a fight and he struck her in a fit of anger. That's why the silhouette of the man is seen running away as if he committed some crime."
"Possible and an acceptable theory because I looked into her boyfriend Wang Lei. He has also been missing from his home since yesterday. Interestingly enough, Wang Lei isn't her boyfriend. According to Wu Yue's friends, he is just a distant acquaintance who Wu Yue never talked about, and she is definitely single."
She squinted her eyes. "So he wasn't her boyfriend but her supplier and now her attacker too."
"Pretty much. Xiyang is already on to track him but it can be different. These people know how to hide very well."
Mingshen carefreely smiled. "Not for long and not for my men~ They will dig him out for sure."
"Also," Huojin took out a phone and said, "I checked Wu Yue's phone. Unlocked it with her fingerprint. There are messages with a burner number, most probably Wang Lei's. Don't know if that is his real name either. I found some number codes, which I am pretty sure are used to point to their rendezvous location."
Jia took a look and repeated. "2-5-10-19"
