"So, you and Dreyfus used to be enemies?" I ask, slightly flabbergast as I turn to him now in shock. With a dizzying grin, Valerian turns his head to meet my gaze, playfully pressing his finger against my sternum as though to dispel the look that dances on my face. His eyes twinkle nefariously under the half light of the room, his tail curling around my thigh in a manner that would almost seem mischievous. Yet he seems entirely distracted by something on my face.
That is something I am quick to find out.
