Days in the Devil's palace - Part 2

Kathleen sat awkwardly on the bed when she has nothing to ask anymore. The room filled with silence, nobody says anything and there's nothing inside the room to help ease the awkwardness for the bedroom has nothing but the round bed.

Lauren who had been standing nearby, looked calm and quiet, while Clause who was on guard at the door still with his aloofness and cold expression. Kathleen wondered if they were naturally like that or they were trained to be as such.

'Such coldness, I don't think I can keep myself like that for the whole day. I wonder if they know how to smile', she asked inwardly.

"My dear daughter in law, would you mind to share a table with me for lunch?", a voice suddenly rang that it sound so close to her ears made her jump from the bed. Kathleen looked at the the servants but it didn't seem like they were the one who uttered the words.

Confused, she asked them, "did both of you hear that?"

"Hear what, your highness?" asked Lauren.

"There's a voice just now, inviting for a lunch. Don't you hear it?" she asked again.

"I'm sorry your highness, I don't hear anything" confirmed Lauren.

She looked at their faces back to back thinking that if they were joking at her or if she was hallucinating that she can hear a voice when nobody says a words.

'But the voice called me as daughter in law, was it The Devil who was asking just now? was he around the bedroom? his voice seems so close to my ears' she asked inwardly.

"Would you mind gracing me the pleasure for today's lunch?" asked the voice again.

This time Kathleen confirmed that the voice was not from both the servants because when it rang, she was looking at them but they didn't open their mouths. But then, where was Sinners?. Kathleen looked around her, searching for the owner of the voice, but she couldn't find anyone except for the three of them.

"The invitation probably from The King, your highness. His majesty can personally send his voice to anyone around his territory without having to see them, and so does The Prince", explained Clause, to finally opened his tight lips.

"Then how am I supposed to give my answer? I don't have such ability", asked Kathleen. She worried if she has to go out of the room to reply the invitation since Kael had warned her about the risks if she step outside of the room without Kael close around her.

"Your highness can say it here, without facing The King. His majesty can hear it" said Clause.

"Oh I see. Well then, Kael is not around so I'm afraid I have to decline, your majesty" she said while fighting with the weirdness that she felt right now. It was weird to talk with someone where she can hear the voice clearly, but not seeing the face of the voice's owner.

"That's a very disappointing reply my dear, you see.. it will be much more fun with just the two of us enjoying the lunch together" said Sinners, though his voice didn't sound like he was disappointed, it was more like he was trying to tempt her.

"I..umm..." she said hesitated.

"I've warned you Sinners! Don't ever try to talk to her when I'm out of the palace" this time it was a very familiar voice to Kathleen, it's Kael's voice!

"Oh my, such a rude son. I wish my grandson won't be this rude" Sinners snickered.

"You can have your lunch with your concubines, leave my bride alone" said Kael ignoring Sinners jeer.

"Such a stingy person you are my son"

"Shut up Sinners"

"And a very rude one as well"

"..."

"Are you ignoring your father now?"

"When did I ever entertain your ridiculousness Sinners?"

"Did you hear it? my heart just broke into pieces like a glass shattered on the floor"

"..."

"Kathleen, why don't you come here and mend my broken heart?"

"I..umm.."

"Don't include her in your stupid game, Sinners"

"Ouch! not just you broke my heart, you even stepped on it"

"Do you want me to step on your face too?"

"Oh I'm crying a river now. How much do I sinned to be given such a bad son huhuhu"

"..... you are the source of sins, Sinners. Kathleen, stay inside, I will be back in a short while" said Kael. Soon after he said it, she didn't hear anymore bickering from the father and son duo, as if Kael had put some kind of invincible barrier block all possible sound from outside the chamber.

Kathleen was a little surprised to the way the devil duo interacted. As the Devil King, Kathleen expected Sinners to be ugly and terrifying, loud and fierce, but from what she saw and heard since she arrived at the Black Palace, Sinners although emit a terrifying aura, but he was more into lustful and playful especially in his words. As for Kael, he was always lustful but the way he talked was calm, completely opposite to Sinners.

She wondered if their bickers was their daily routine or it was the way they communicate to each other. Was that really their characters, or the worst side hasn't been reveal yet?

But what she was very sure was, the devil duo shared one similarity, they were handsomely charming physically!
