The First Lead
The journey to the nearby town was fraught with tension. The path wound through dense forests, the canopy above us casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. Birds chirped overhead, their songs a stark contrast to the urgency that drove our steps. Seraphina walked beside me, her eyes sharp and alert, scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger.
As we approached the town, I took in the sight of its stone buildings and cobblestone streets. The town bustled with activity; merchants peddled their wares, children played in the streets, and townsfolk went about their daily routines. Yet, beneath the surface, there was an undercurrent of unease, as if the recent attacks on the village had reached even here.
