The Darkness envelopes all

"You the Child seeked by shadows and darkness." A human without light. What is he? A fate to live in the dark to never see the day again. Can it be broken? A child broken by the world. Broken forever?

A Illness

After the heavy topic was out of the way we ate breakfast as if everything was normal, if you don´t count the dark room and athmosphere. Today as usual we eat bread with some apples.

Still I could see a heavy expression on both my parents face. Even if it was just minimal.

We had no Idee what kind of illness I could have which has such symptons.

To get a better understanding we called our local doctor to our house to avoid walking through the sun. He is called William. He is an old man in his late 70s who has a lot of knowledge about herbs and illnesses. He is our man to go if it comes to all kind of things surrounding the human body.

A while after my father left the house he came back with William walking behind him.

"Good Morning, William" I greatet him enthusiastic while waving with my arms.

"Good Morning, Kieran. I just wondered why you didn´t visitet my small abode today and now it seems you have catched a disease."

We guided the old man to our dining room.

"Why is your home so dark everywhere?" William asked in wonder

"It has something to do with our childs illness" My mother answered in my stead

"Oh what is it about?" He looked at me "Could you tell me what you know? Maybe how you feel?"

"I don´t know what is happening myself. Everytime i walk into the sun i feel weird. It feels like thousand of ants are walking on my skin. Not only on my skin but it seems inside of me too. It feels like no spot is untouched. It is not even constricted by clothes. I tired it one time and the feeling still came. Only in the darkness i can relax."

"Mhmm, that doesn´t sound like any disease i have ever seen or heard of" William showed us an apologetic look "Still we could try some medicine I have at my old house. I propose to come tomorrow again for some testing and maybe we can find a conclusion for the problem."

"That sounds like a good Idea. Thank you so much for your help" Answered my mother.

"There is no need to thank me Nathalia. I would help everyone here. I would even work extra hard if it comes to the only other person in this village who is really interested in herbs."

After the discussion ended William excused himeself for the day as he had to attend another patient.

As we had the whole day till nightfall my father decide to distract himeself with work.

My mother instead stayed home with me to look after me. She was scared that the illness will have some negative effects on my psyche.

Well, it even supprised even me how calm i was even with such a illness which maybe could hold me in the darkness the whole life. But thankfully the candle gives me a little bit of light even if it is not much.

But what is the difference between light of a candle and the sun? The one burns me but the other is just harmless? I treated it like its nothing as its the last straw i can hold onto but an explanation is just impossible. Maybe the doctor can reason with the world what is happening to me.

I had a long time to wait till tomorrow and it became boring really fast so I gramed out an old newspaper.

This newspaper is one of my favourits but still more than a year old.

Mostly it reports about politics between different countries which doesnt interests me at all.

Its the report about a young prodigy Child of a mage that makes up for all the other uninteresting stuff.

She is as young as me but still is famous all around the world and most importantly she is allready a Great Mage. What is, so the text describes it, a miracle never seen before in the human world.

But I dont really know what it really means. What is a Great Mage? The text doesnt really describe it as if it treated it like common knowledge.

As I went through the report again and again which describes her amazing feets. Splittin the earth in a single move, creating a massive stone in the sky out of stone and throwing at her opponent. And as a finisher move the entire ground below the enemy dissapear underneath him and he fell into a hole which mysteriously the stone appeared again above him burying the man alive. It was just too mystical for me to even explatin or imagine of these things. How can somehing just vanish like it was never there without anyone noticing. I was so engrossed I didn´t notice the elapse of time as it went dark as the sun disappeared behind the horizon.

"Hey Kieran its time for you to go sleep" Only now i woke up from my stupor of reading as my mother stood in front of me with a strict face which did not allow no for answeres.

"Yes Mom" Went my answer as I lay the newspaper back under my bed and went to sleep.

The next day I woke up at the normal time without my mother needing to wake me up.

The sun already above the horizon as my father told me.

I sat down with my parents to eat breakfast after which we were waiting for William to show up.

We didn´t need to wait long as we heared a knock on our door.

Both my parents went to open door and I waited at the table I only heared their conversation as our walls were not really sound proof. It seems that its relativly windy today as I felt a gust of wind reach me from the passage of our house.

"Good Morning William. I hope you have good news for us? " My mother greeted

"Good Morning Nathalia and Goran. I am not really sure. But more important here is my patient at?"

"He is waiting at the table for you."

Next all come back to the dining room. I saw William stepping into the room while pulling a little cart behind him.

"Haahaa Good to see you still being fine. So have you noticed something different since yesterday?"

"I haven´t stepped into the sun till then so no."

"Mhmm thats good" He mumbled while searching for something in his little card.

He brought forth a bowl, a little pounder and herbs. Two of three I could recognise.

While putting all the different things onto the table he said "I made a little bit of research in the books of my collection and I found no disease that has symptons like your has. Don´t get me wrong there is one with some similarity where your skin is too sensitive to light but it has neither symptons as bad as you describe nor is the pain inside your body. It would only affect the skin, nothing else."

"Still i want to test the same treatments for the illness on you maybe there will be some results." He said full of confidence but his looks in the eyes said something else.

As his little speach went to an end he began to prepare the first mixture of herbs.

At first he prepared a bowl with water. He let the bowl rest for a while and turned his attention to the herbs which he laid out in front of him.

The first herb he crushed was red. It had many little conjunctiures and looked a little bit like a mini bush. It was one of which I know. Its called Rahusta. It used if the patience feels any kind of discomfort.

The second herb he crushes is specific for the skin. The herb that was named Polet. It was green and had big leaves hanging to the sides. It eases skin infections.

He throws both herbs into the water which in the meantime got heated up by my mom. They easily dissolved which resulted in a yellow soup.

William prepares a second bowl where only one herb is crushed into.

This one was a little special as It had a normal round form but wasn`t only sky blue in color but I also didn´t recognize this herb.

"What kind of herb is this?" I blurted out all of a sudden

"You mean these ones?" He picked some of the blue stuff "I knew you would ask about these. The term for this on is Tugevdam. It will strengthen the effect of the other herbs you already know, I hope. I think I could resign if you didn´t know them. " he laught in between "I put so much time in you learning something about herbs and medicine."

"Yes I know those. They were called Rahusta and Polet" I said full of pride

"Haahaa Now I see that my time was not wasted" His joyfull full expression turned into a serious again.

"So little guy. I want you now to take these mixtures one after another. Then you wait 30 minutes to let the medicine really sink in."

"Next I want you to stay under the sun for a little while" William said in a calm tone even a bit reinsuring but it still made a shiver run down my spine.
