Empty and colorless

Lily followed Aziel until he stopped in front of a room. He opened it and lily walked into the darkest room she has ever seen. Once Aziel closed the door to the room, it was pitch black. She didn't even know if he was by her side, behind her, at her front... She couldn't see him.

"Hello," she called out.

"Are you scared?" Lily jumped in fright when a voice spoke from behind right into her ears.

"A-are you going to kill me?" She stuttered. Her hands were spread out, and she turned around to navigate the room.

"If I wanted you dead I would have left you back there for Elliott," Lily moved back when she heard the shuffling of clothes moving towards her.

"Then why did you bring me to this dark room? Is this another place where you torture people who you pick offense with?"

Aziel's eyes narrowed when he sensed the pretentious fear in her voice. He knew what fear smelt like. He could sense a person's fear from their breathing alone. The lady in this room was nowhere near scared. She was such a bad actress.

"You're wrong. This is my room and is from now henceforth, yours as well," Aziel said casually.

"What? I'm sharing a room with "you?" No way." Lily said with an attitude. She bit her lips when she realized that she had failed to hold her tongue. She had planned this for years, but she never trusted herself to keep up this facade without wanting to punch one of the members of the royal family in the face.

And this was one of those scenarios where she had to apply the self-esteem she had been practicing.

What? Share a room?

It hadn't been a day, yet they had already proved to her that the hate she had for them is valid. There is no way she was going to be his bed slave. She would rather die than scratch his horny itch.

"What are you thinking?" Aziel asked. Lily heard a matchstick light up behind her and suddenly the once dark room was illuminated with an orange glow. The hairs on her neck stood up when Aziel whispered on her neck.

"Are you hoping that I would have sex with you?" He stood up straight with the candle stand in his hand.

Lily hurriedly turned to face him, "No my lord."

"Aziel," Aziel corrected.

"No...Aziel. I would never have such thoughts. How dare a lowlife like me think of sleeping with someone as mighty as you." Out of all the things she said, the only thing he could pick out was the way his name rolled perfectly off her tongue. He wanted to hear it again.

"Call my name."

"What?"

"I remember saying I hate repeating myself."

"I'm sorry, Aziel."

"Good. No need to worry, I don't sleep with humans. Those disgusting weaklings probably wouldn't last long before they pass out."

'Of course, they'll pass out. Who in the world has sex for 5 hours and is still energetic for the next round?' lily wanted to say, but she decided "Oh," Was a better option.

"Can I not share a room with you? I'll be fine in the basement."

Aziel's eyes flickered for a moment. He saved her, yet she was trying to run away from him. He walked over to all the candle stands and lit them up, making the room brighter.

"You can, that's if you're ready to die. You have now become a new target in this household: if you stay with me, you're safe, if you don't then all my hard work of trying to keep you safe will be thrown down the drain."

Lily stood still and thought for a moment. He does seem to have an unexplainable authority and her safety will be guaranteed if she stayed with him.

"Promise you won't touch me."

"You are in no condition to make requests as such; I make no promises."

"Thank you for saving me today, I'll forever be indebted to you." Lily said to replace her other statement. She wouldn't want him changing his mind about letting her stay in his room because of her requests earlier. She rather not have him think she was ungrateful.

"Say that when you really mean it," Aziel said coldly. He walked to the window and separated the large double curtains. It was nighttime already and the moon shone brightly into the room. He walked over to the rocking chair that was opposite the window and sat on it.

"You can make yourself comfortable on the bed," he said as he rocked the chair back and forth.

"What about you?" Lily asked. She was surprised that this vampire would be kind enough to let her take the bed rather than the floor.

"I don't sleep," It was the truth. Ever since he was cursed, he had never gotten even a minute of sleep. 356 years ago, was the last time he slept peacefully on his mother's breast. His mother was gone and so was a peaceful night's rest.

Lily didn't think too much of what he said. She didn't refuse his kind gesture either. She slowly walked to the bed and got under the duvet. She thought she wouldn't sleep and would be vigilant through the night, but she was wrong. The second her head touched the pillow, she found herself in Dreamland. The next time she opened her eyes, it was already morning.

At first, she didn't notice and thought she had slept for a few minutes only to find the sun trying to peek in from the small opening in-between the curtains.

She got up from the bed. The moment her bare legs touched the fluffy hairy rug, the will to get things done for the day dissolved, and she only wanted to sink her feet into the rug. She stood up nonetheless and walked towards the windows.

Now she knew why light never seemed to penetrate the room. Look at how thick the curtains were. It was as if he planned for light to never enter this room unless he willed it to. She spread the thick curtains and light immediately flooded the room.

That was when she got another shock.

She hadn't seen it yesterday because of how dark the room was and even when they lit the candles, there was only so much she could see. But now that the right amount of light entered the room, she could see the role.

It was empty and colorless.

Her eyes scanned the room. From the bedpost, to the candle stands, every single thing was in black. She bent down to look at the rug, it was black.

She didn't know why she found it this eerie. In fact, she found Aziel and his entire personality eerie.

And why would someone's room be this empty? You could count with your fingers the amount of objects in this room.

There was a big black bed in the middle of the room with curtains tied to each bed post, a huge shelf stood at the far end corner. One would expect for it to have a lot of books, but only one book was placed in the middle of the shelf.

The three candle stands and the rocking chair opposite the window were the remaining items in the room.

There was no life in this room; it just felt shallow, sad...and lonely.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Oh my god!" Lily yelled when she heard Aziel's voice. Would he at least make some noise when he is walking? At this rate, she would get a heart attack if he suddenly pops out from nowhere again.

"G-good morning," she greeted after she regrouped herself.

"Hmm. Follow me." Said Aziel, and he began walking towards the door with his hands behind his back.

"Wait..." He stopped when her soft voice. He turned to her with a raised eyebrow silently asking her what the problem was.

"I've not bathed yet." Aziel pursed his lips.

"No. You won't be bathing. I wonder why humans clean the dirt on the outer surface but fail to clean the main dirt on the inner. Hypocrites"

Lily bowed her head meekly when she heard him talk. "Speak for yourself," she muttered under her breath.

"Did you say something?" Aziel cocked his head to the side and peered at her.

"Huh? No…um…you're right," Lily just spurted the incoherent rubbish that came to her mind.

"I'm always right. Follow me." That signalled the end of the conversation and Lily quietly followed Aziel to where ever he was taking her to.
