The war appears never-ending. God’s Shadow has been here for one year and four months. Finally, my brothers and sisters fight back with great power. If witches are what they call us, then witches we will be. The island gives us what we ask, but I fear we take too much and give too little back.

What will become of our home? Even if we win, what will be the cost? Paradise is gone. ‘Where will we go?’ God’s Shadow didn’t come on their own, they were sent. Whoever pointed them in our direction will forever hunt us, haunt us, kill us. No good will come of this war. Both sides will lose.

But I have found something amid blood and light. Something worth living for. Someone worth dying for. We steal time. These golden moments are all I look forward to now. Once a week is not nearly enough time with him, but I take what I can.
