Magisterium

Early that morning around 8 am, Hiroshi and Kai drove to Botan's house, birds were chirping and Kai wondered if everyone like Hiroshi and Botan rear birds in their homes.

"Today is your big day, you know".

Kai laid his head in the seat, he groaned a bit, he was thinking about his parents and everyone who matters to him.

"Come on, we have no much time to waste" Hiroshi urged him.

Kai came down from the car, he and Hiroshi walked up to the door leading into the house.

Ding dong

The doorbell chimed as Hiroshi pressed it. Not long after a foot strode towards the door, Kai heard the ruffle of the foot on the floor inside, it was in a hurry.

"Come on in" Botan was grinning, he looked at Kai "Am happy you made this decision".

"Not like as if I have any other option" Kai blurted in his mind.

Botan motioned them to come inside.

"Morning Hiroshi" Aoi greeted, she is in white silk kimono, even in her middle age, her beauty was still visible.

"Seems like you were early than I expected lady Aoi" Hiroshi chuckled.

Aoi smiled, she turned towards Kai, her eyes brightened, "Hope you're ready for this?".

Kai nodded, he wondered how long the journey to the Magisterium will take, he strode away from the adults who were already discussing and went into the sitting room, he sat down on the sofa, eyes closed, he counted his breath as he takes them in, he was trying to calm his heartbeat cause each time he remembers his parents his heart clenched.

Multiple footsteps walked into the sitting room, Kai opened his eyes a bit.

"Alright Kai, it's time to get going" Hiroshi motioned him to stand.

"Fine" Kai groaned, he walked towards the door leading out of the house.

"Where are you going?" Aoi asked.

Kai wondered why she asked such a question, "Outside..to the car".

Botan laughed and Aoi eyed him, "We don't go by car".

"Then what?".

Aoi looked at Botan and he motioned Kai to follow them, Kai silently obeyed him as he strode along with them, they entered a corridor inside the house and walked up to a door which leads to the basement.

Kai became curious, "What are they doing in the basement?" He thought.

Botan switched on the light in the basement and walked down the stairs, Aoi and Hiroshi followed suit.

The basement was neat, it looks like they use it all the time, boxes were arranged in a corner, and on one of the boxes, a baseball bat protruded out of it.

Kai sneezed, there was little speck of dust in the basement.

"So here we are" Botan smiled, his eyes went to Kai.

"So...?"

"We travel through this" Botan said as he unveiled a large object in a circular form, it was built with alloy but a strong alloy, words were written on its surface, words Kai couldn't make out, at the middle ends of the circular object were sculped ball, it acts like a hinge holding the upper semicircle and the lower semicircle.

"What is that supposed to be? a futuristic porthole?"

Kai asked.

"Fair enough" Botan laughed, "Well, it's a magical porthole or you can call it a mage gate"

"So every student on Magisterium goes through that?".

Botan nodded, "Well, masters in Magisterium have their mage gate but as for the students, we have headquarters where the mage gate is located for mages from different continents".

"You wanna see how it works?" Aoi grinned.

"Well, yeah".

Aoi touched the sculped ball at the left while Botan touched the one at the right, they drew a pattern and their hands were moving in harmony, immediately a whooshing noise started, and Kai felt it.

A light blue cosmos appeared on the circular object swirling.

"Let's get going" Botan looked at Aoi.

Aoi stood in front of the swirling cosmos, she turned and looked at Kai "It's safe", she walked into it, it was as if the light blue cosmos absorbed her.

Kai looked at Botan, he wanted him to go next, Botan noticing that look laughed and went into the porthole, Kai breathed, he looked at Hiroshi, he haven't talked much since they arrived at the basement.

"You have to get going, Kai".

"What about you?".

Hiroshi smiled, "Am staying behind, you have to trust them, they'll keep you safe, so go they're waiting".

Kai wanted to ask more further questions but he couldn't, he walked towards the porthole, the light blue cosmos sparkled when he was closer, he felt the whooshing noise and its air.

"So this is magic" Kai walked into the porthole, it was like his body was in a state of transition, he felt the blue cosmos all over him.

Kai looked around as he came into the Magisterium, it was a great hall and there was chattering, he had to move further cause some other students were coming through the mage gate he walked out of, the porthole in the hall was the main mage gate, it was larger and bigger than the one in Botan's basement, he wondered if all portholes were connected to the main mage gate.

"Kai, over here".

Kai turned around in the crowd, it was stuffy like an airport area, he saw Aoi waving at him, and he pushed his way towards them.

Botan smiled when he came closer.

"Wow, so big" Kai winced.

"Let's get going" Botan winke. at him as they strode along with the crowd.
