"Tom, wake up. We're almost there," this sentence of Mr. Knightley kept repeating in Tom's ear.
Tom opened his marble eyes and looked out of the window next to him. there was nothing but the endless ocean.
"It's just water here!" Tom said sleepily.
Mr. Knightley refused to let Tom sleep again.
The sun was getting higher every moment. Tom arranged his clothes and drank a glass of water, then left the room with Mr. Knightley.
The fireflies were gone and the brown deck of the ship didn't emit any light anymore. Most of the passengers were asleep and only six people were walking on the deck.
The sunlight, despite its gentleness, still bothered Tom's sleepy eyes. But Mr. Knightley, like nothing! He had no signs of exhaustion.
Tom looked at the front of the ship to see Olthama. No matter how hard he was looking, there was nothing. Only water, water, and water!
"There is nothing here!" said Tom calmly.
"It's the gateway to Olthama" Mr. Knightley pointed to the front of the ship.
Tom looked carefully but saw no land or gate. He wanted to tell Mr. Knightley that he must have been imagining things but decided to wait.
It didn't take two minutes before something was seen in the distance. It wasn't a gate or land; it was a big waterfall!
Tom's sleepy eyes widened in fear.
There was a big waterfall about three hundred meters ahead, and the ship was moving towards it without slowing down or changing direction.
At first, Tom thought he was hallucinating from sleepiness because Mr. Knightley was greeting the waterfall with a smile!
At this moment, a young man who was standing next to Capitan shouted:
"Three hundred meters to the gate"
The young man repeated this sentence three times.
"There is no gate here!" said Tom.
"It's right in front of you, pay attention," said Mr. Knightley.
"Is there a waterfall?!" asked Tom.
"Exactly! Nivalda falls. Have you ever wondered how Olthama could be hidden all these years?!"
Tom grinned. How is it possible that there is a gate waterfall, that has separated these two different worlds for hundreds of years?!
"It's a big waterfall, we'll die!" Tom said in fear.
"Don't worry, everything is under control"
"Control?! You call this control?! The ship will sink and everyone will die. In addition, I can't die and I'll go to the brink of death and stay alive! It's awful!"
Mr. Knightley put his hand on Tom's shoulders calmly "Trust me. It is one of the less-dangerous ways to the Olthama. You really think that everyone here is bunch of crazy mad people who are willing to get themselves killed?!"
Tom said no more. he knew that Mr. Knightley wouldn't accept any words. After all, he was raised with sorcerers and knows these things better than Tom does.
Fifteen meters were remaining to the waterfall. The roaring sound of angry ocean waves was making Tom's feet shake. they reached closer and closer. The waterfall's height was estimated to be around seventy meters.
They were about to hit the waterfall and Tom closed his eyes and held tightly to the wooden edge of the ship. The sound got loud and louder and then…nothing! All the sounds went off and silence took over the air.
Tom opened his eyes and was astonished. All the brutal and dangerous waves were gone, but it wasn't the strangest part. Tom couldn't see the ocean anymore. It took a few minutes for Tom to realize they weren't floating on water rather, they were levitating in the air. It was fantastic!
The clouds above, birds parallel to them, and mountains were beneath them. A relaxing wind was caressing Tom's face and the sun's soft light which was emitting on Tom's skin was invigorating.
"Welcome to Olthama, the cradle of modern magic." Mr. Knightley said with pride.
Tom was amazed.
"It's beautiful."
He had no flying experience before and this was his first flight, on ship!
They passed tall and short mountains until they reached a very tall mountain. This mountain was like a skyscraper compared to a small house.
When the ship reached the top of that mountain, the distance between them was so small that it was possible to jump on it.
"This mountain is the highest mountain of Olthama. Some stories say this is the place where mythical creatures live," said Mr. Knightly.
After crossing the high mountain, Tom Martin could see a town three hundred meters away.
Capitan directed the ship down to the anchorage. Height slowly decreased and the ship landed.
Who would have thought that Tom's first flight would be so amazing?!
The whole crowd dispersed in an orderly manner. Tom and Mr. Knightley were the first to come down and receive their belongings.
One-Eyed took the suitcases and flew and Tom followed the crow's path. One-Eyed was going towards a relatively big mountain.
It was the first time that Tom was seeing Odegaard great palace.
The top of the mountain was carved and the magical palace of Odegaard was built on it.
