The Curse Of Freedom

What is freedom? Is it being free, being bondless, nothing stopping a us from doing whatever we want. Has humanity ever been free, it seem no matter how we try there is always something keeping us from what we truly want, be it family, friends, enemies or even the moral beliefs of the community or even the individual. Freedom is a farce, it doesn't exist, remember the saying as free as a bird. If birds are truly free why do they always return to their cages. Life itself is a cage, we are bound to existence, the only thing in a human body that is truly free is the mind. The mind isn't bound to anything, it's only limitation is the body, even with that said we aren't truly free. If freedom really existed what do we have to do to attain it and would we do with the new found freedom.

CHAPTER THREE THE BEGINNING OF FREEDOM

Bright light pierced through Xavier's eyes as he tried to open them. He had to blink a few time before the were adjusted. He sat up and saw Emily looking at him worried "I thought you weren't gonna wake up" she hugged him tightly. Pushing her lightly so he could stand up he looked around and saw everyone looking confused while some woke up their friends. He saw Damion in the crowd if students "Hey Damion over here !!" he yelled out so Damion could find his way to them.

"Are you okay" Xavier immediately turned to Emily worried about her.

"I'm fine" she said.

"Hey are you guys okay? " Damion asked as he reached were they were standing.

" We're fine" Emily said

"What the hell happened, one minute we're all watching the meteor shower and then boom an asteroid then a weird sounds that almost blew my brains out." Damion said with a confused face.

Xavier looked around and saw everyone as confused and shocked as them.

" Everybody listen up. I'm sure you all are confused but there's a logical explanation of what happened last night but right now we have to make sure if we're all okay first" a girl on top of the stage said to everyone. She was the schools council president . Amanda Oliver, Emily's cousin, she was a born leader, she was also a cheerleader for the schools football team and a certified genius. She was someone people could turn to in times of crisis so people listened to her. She seems nice but for some reason Emily doesn't like her.

"It seems no one is hurt, that's good to hear. Ok I think we should call the police so we can let the authorities handle this" Amanda said.

"I tried calling 911 but it keeps saying number unavailable" a guy from the crowd said.

Xavier thought that was strange so he decided to call his mom.

[sorry the number you have dialed is unreachable at the moment]

Xavier immediately felt worried. He tried calling again and again but still the same answer.

'what in the world is happening?' he asked himself.

"Emily I have to go, I need to check if Al is alright" he turned to Emily.

"I'm coming with you" she said

Xavier didn't complain or protest because he didn't have the time. He and Emily rushed out of the school. Damion saw them and quickly ran after them. When they came out of the school they noticed something strange but they both ignored it and kept on moving.

They got to the middle of town then it struck them that something was definitely wrong.

There was nobody absolutely nobody on the streets.

"Somethings wrong. Where the heck is everyone?" Emily asked as she looked around the deserted town.

"I think we should both go home and check if everyone is okay" Xavier said to Emily.

Xavier ran to his house hoping to see his mom, brother or even his dad. On reaching there he saw his dad's car, he had a frown on his face immediately. He opened the door and walked inside, he saw some papers on the ground, he picked them up and read the contents, his face twisted in anger after reading it. That confirmed his dad was here but not anymore.

He walked out of his house and saw Emily looking at him with her eyes watering none stop.

He rushed to her side and held her, he felt her body tremble as she cried.

"What happened?" he asked her as he carried her inside his house.

"Their gone Xavier, their all gone!!" Emily said crying nonstop.

"whose gone" he asked her as he wiped the tears from her eyes.

"My mom, my dad even Diane, all gone. I checked everywhere and called but the number wasn't going. I don't know what to do" she said in-between sobs.

'What the hell is happening, first the ghost town now Emily's family is missing' Xavier thought.

He hug Emily till she calmed down and stopped crying.

"Let's go to the hospital and see if Al and my mom are okay Maybe your family is there to"

he tried to keep her calm.

They entered his dad's car after he picked up the car keys from inside the house. Xavier had already gotten his driver's license so he could drive. They drove straight to the hospital. The hospital wasn't that big, it was a 2 story building with an 2 ambulance trucks.

Xavier stopped the car at the entrance of the hospital and came out with Emily. They rushed inside and just saw teenagers like them inside. Xavier thought this was odd so they started searching the entire hospital from head to toe but couldn't find any adult or children.

They walked out of the hospital disappointed and worried.

"Guys there's something wrong with the town" Damion said as he came out of his car that he had just parked in the hospital drive way.

"All the adults and kids are missing" Xavier said with a worried face.

"What!?? What does that mean" Emily said confused.

"I mean think about it, the town is a ghost town, everyone except people from the age of 15 to 19 is missing and the weird astroid and don't forget Abt that awful sound. It's connected somehow" Xavier said but didn't add in the part about him seeing a demon or whatever it was he saw.

It was silent for a while because they were all lost in their thoughts. Emily finally broke the silence" What happens now?".
