A new plan

Heavy breaths escape the lips of the couple, as they have sped the past 10 minutes running away from the horde behind their backs. With Zhihui's full attention on running and trying not to trip, she could not disturb the movement of the moving horde. But Morse could still summon his bow and arrows as he rains arrows upon arrows onto the far-away horde.

Proving to be an annoyance as he kills some of them and wounds countless others. These small hit-and-run tactics continue to play out, till Zhihui jumps over a tree root, landing on a part of the forest that still has its life and biomass. Green grass grows from the brown soil and the sound of singing birds echoes in their ears. They have escaped the territory of corruption.

The horde seeing that the couple landed in the uncorrupt territory, stop for some reason. Showing off their bloody and white fangs, the creatures went back to their normal task. Giving the couple enough time to breathe in and relax. Their muscles go limp as Zhihui falls to the ground, as the weight of the much heavy and taller man finally settles in.

As she falls to the ground, sandwiched between it and Mors, she could not help but continue the friendly banter.

"Can you please move off me, princess?"

"Um?- oh shit, sorry"

Mors said as he rolls off Zhihui, the wound in his body now better than before, as his first dantian has started to release its energy to heal him. He bites his lip, red blood flowing, as he grips the white spike engraved into his shoulder. Back in his old life, taking out bullets from his body never got old. The pain of pulling something out of a wound and reopening it, it's not something you get used to.

He pulls off the spike in one swift motion, opening the wound and letting blood once again flow. But he can't buy a healing elixir now, he still got more spikes to pull out. Like this, the once green grass loses its color and got painted blood red. The smell of iron surrounds the couple, as Mors pulls the final spike, buying a healing elixir, but instead of buying the 5 [Fate Points] one, he buys one for 20 [Fate Points].

This elixir is in a long glass bottle, with a beautiful red liquid swimming inside of it. He drinks a bit of this liquid, as its magical properties of it started to spread across his body, healing his many open wounds. But of course, he can't forget about his wife, as he slowly stands up and turns her over.

Her beautiful face was cover in dirt, blood, and pieces of grass.

"Open your mouth"

He said softly as she follows his command, having intense burn wounds all over your sensitive hands really does a dent in your ability to stand up without screaming in pain. As he presses the glass softly against her red lips, he feeds her the red elixir. As the bottle is empty in her mouth and as she shallows. Its magical properties are stated to heal her black and burn hands. Rebuilding its lost cells and returning things back to normal.

Soon both were healed, but they were not prepared to go back and fight the monster horde. Those things are only dead when their brain is damaged or cut off from the rest of their bodies. With no fear or will of their own, they will continue to fight. As such, they need something to tackle a large number of monsters.

"So..you were saying something about getting meat shields?"

"Yes, I was, in a past life, I dealt with something similar to this"

"What!? How?"

She said in surprise, as this is a new type of old-world corruption that people don't have experience with. She knows he had a past life, but even then, if he were one of the cultivators that fought these monsters, she would have heard or at least read his name on the reports.

Zhihui at that time did not face any difficulties in her everyday life, her parents send her far away for her own safety.

"Well in my old world, there is some documentation of monsters like this"

Zhihui nodded her head in enlightenment, now this made a lot more sense. Mors is from a different region, which is why he could have experience in dealing with these things and it would explain why she has never heard about him.

"Wow…..yea, that sound very bad. But that does not answer how we deal with it"

But the hive mind won't let us get near it so easily, it will send wave after wave of its soldiers after us. As such we need a meat shield to defend us as we kill the hive mind"

"Well that is already information I was aware of, but if what you said is true. Then the number of monsters in our enemy field can be too much for us to handle. Thankfully I know of a way to get some emit shields "

"How?"

"We just have to tame some monsters"

"But taming takes a lot of time and resources doe, we don't have time for that"

"No, not taming in the normal sense. But more of taming them by fear and power"

Zhihui said as she smiles evilly at Mors, if Mors said that they need meat shields, she can easily get them. Monsters don't usually follow humans or goblins for no reason. Taming monsters is a passion that takes years upon years to perfect and do. But those taming build trust and respect. She does not need that for a meat shield. Fear and terror should be more than enough.

Mors hearing her solution to their problem could not help but smile at her plan.

"Ha-ha, that sounds great. I got a talent that makes monsters weaker than me fear me. We can use that to our benefit. But before we start our conquest, you need to buy some upgrades."

"Upgrades?"

"Yes, in the system there is a section called [Blood Line] upgrades. Buying does will improve your bloodline abilities. You should buy some, so you have more cards available to use"

"Umm…that does make sense. Let me check it out"

Zhihui said as she checks her bloodline upgrades and decided to buy some of them. Spending 3000 points to buy all the earthy elements.
