Chapter 97 Prideful soul

The large table was set as maids from different corners of the house carried out their mission. The large room was stuffed as every person did what they were good at. The chefs patrolled with different dishes of different sorts and kinds, and the waiters lined up with drinks on trays as they served them specifically on the table.

They were all trying their best and putting in their best efforts because Nicholas had announced that he will be dining with his goddess. They wanted everything to be perfect, there was no room for mistakes or coincidences. It just had to be perfect.

Bennett walked around, supervising everything the employees did. He looked grim. He always had that look every single time he had to carry out his job. He is what they call 'a perfectionist'. He makes sure everything goes according to how he had planned, and he did it professionally.

He is not called Nicholas Alviero Ross's personal Buttler for nothing. He was good at his job. In fact, the best in what he does.

"Get the most expensive glasses, please". He ordered one of the maids in charge of the drinks. His hands were crossed backward, he was now officially in work mode.

"Yes sir". She bent her head as she dismissed herself. He proceeded to the dining room as he watched them set the designed meals and different expensive wines.

The Large chandelier that shone directly above the large table made the entire setting exquisite. It was as if royalties were dining. From the beginning of the table to the end of it held millions of dollars.

Nicholas specifically to make everything special. It wasn't different from the daily routine but there was uniqueness in the way they went all out to make everything special. It was as if they reserved the best dishes for this special day.

Bennett walked to the kitchen where all the heated specialties were held. This was the only place he hadn't supervised yet— as they say, the best is always saved for the last.

The chefs were all in pure white, likewise their assistants. They were all buried in making perfection. They wouldn't want Nicholas to kill them for poisoning his goddess as they stayed focused on what they did—  just a little undercooked or overcooked meal could cause food poisoning and they didn't want that.

They were too engrossed in their jobs that they didn't even notice when Bennett came in.

"How are the dishes coming out, boys?" He asked in a bossy tone as they turned to where the voice came from.

"We're almost done, sir" one of them answered. They were all wearing face masks as they prepared the meals. The old Buttler walked closer to them as they handed him a face mask and a hair net. One slight mistake could tarnish an entire feast.

The kitchen is one of the cleanest places in the entire mansion— all the parts of the mansion are in fact sparkling. It is one of the places Nicholas had so much concern for and that was why he specifically asked Bennett to consult an interview when they hired new chefs.

Bennett watched them stir the dishes and cut different vegetables as one of the maids requested his presence. He walked to her leaving the kitchen as she stood in front of him.

"Sir, the boss is on his way downstairs". Her head was bent as she talked to him.

"Okay". He walked swiftly into the kitchen as he spoke. "Round up whatever you're doing, master Nicholas is on his way". Bennett concluded and everyone arranged themselves.

The chef's assistants took the meals already prepared to the table. They arranged the meals and prepared to await their master. Everyone, including Bennett, took their places and waited. Their eyes were fixed on the elevator door.

The dark man stepped out. All heads were bent. No one, but no one dared to look up. He was there, he was acknowledged. His eyes were dim as they surveyed the entire room. He saw their efforts but didn't give a damn. All he wanted right now was to please his goddess and nothing else mattered.

His eyes went to Bennett and he bowed his head slowly in awe of him. The maids, on the other hand, were all dressed in white. It was indeed perfect but was it going to be perfect in her eyes? Would she like it? Would she be impressed?

For the first time in his life, he walked around the table as all his eyes widened out of their eyes sockets in shock. They couldn't believe what they had just seen. Bennett froze to the ground as everyone in the room shivered. They knew what he was capable of. Just a single mistake and they are out of the mansion. They didn't want that. Nobody wanted that.

The old butler wondered what was going on with his boss. This whole thing with this lady was getting pretty serious and real. Firstly, his life was spared when her name was mentioned to him. Secondly, he attended his own birthday party just because her name was mentioned. Thirdly, he invited her over to his house and always had a reaction whenever her name was mentioned. Fourthly, he abducted her, and now, he wants to dine with her?

The Nicholas he knows never, ever dines with anyone. He wouldn't even sit and watch someone eat at the same table as him. He is Nicholas Alviero Ross, the most arrogant and prideful soul in the universe. He is placed high and can never dine with anyone or anything that doesn't please him.

Slowly, he walked back to his seat. He sat with pride as he waited for her. He had asked her to come downstairs for breakfast. Would she reject his offer? Would she rather make the call than dine with him? He relaxed backward on the seat as his fingers clicked on the hand of the sat restlessly. He waited patiently.

Zhavia stood in front of the large mirror as she looked at the clothes she wore. Just earlier, maids came in with different hangers of clothes and took them to the closet. When she wanted to punish them for barging in with clothes, they told her that it was an order from their boss. Nicholas.

Her heart melted as she thought of it. And before she could realize it, it had become a reality. She is dining with the almighty Nicholas Alviero Ross. Her heart raced as she thought of it.

Would he like me in these clothes?

Her eyes were fixed on what she wore as she smiled. How did he know her taste? How did he know what to buy? She looked at the clothes and thought of Sofia. She remembered how she would always select her clothes, how she would always ensure that her makeup was perfect, and how she would always encourage and tell her how beautiful she is.

She was called out of her trance when the maid addressed her. She was too engrossed in her thought that she didn't even hear the knocking on the door. Her eyes were directly on the maid as she came back to her senses.

"Breakfast is served, ma'am". The maid blurted and bent her head in dismissal.

Zhavia's heart skipped a beat on hearing that. It was time. It was inevitable now. She is going to dine with him at any moment. She shot a glance at herself again just to make sure she looked good.

What is wrong with you zhavia?

How do your clothes matter to him?

She arranged her hair again. It was a reflex action and she was used to it already. It had become a habit that she couldn't get rid of. She is always composed. She had always been composed before she met this man. Now, he had taken over her composure, her senses, and her emotions.

How the hell did it come to this?

How is he able to always control her and make her powerless in front of him?

She arranged her dress again as she began walking out of the room. Slowly, she stepped out. She was not in a hurry at all, she was rather tensed. She was sure that anyone that came close to her would hear the rate at which her heart thudded nonstop.

Who knew?

Who know that the all-powerful zhavia McKay would be so powerless and helpless before this man? Who knew that a day would come when she would have to dress to impress a man? Who knew that a day would come when she would feel again? Where she could be rendered breathless by a man?

She walked into the large hallway as she got into the elevator. Her hands were getting sweaty— that was how tensed she was. She couldn't even breathe properly because the thought of him was doing so many things to her.

The elevator door opened to the large room. She stepped out.

She was there.

This is really happening.
