There's nowhere in this world where you can hide from my reach," Ezekiel whispered, his breath warm against her neck. Her throat tightened as his lips grazed her skin. With a firm yet gentle grip on her chin, he tilted her head, urging her to meet his intense gaze, causing her heart to pound in her chest. "I'm here to make you remember every detail of the agony you've caused me," he declared. "Agony?!" she protested. "Yes, your cruel betrayal. Leaving me, breaking your promise..."

First love

"I feel like my heart would burst at any minute just seeing you smile… It's too beautiful and endearing, but suffocating at the same time."

Tarah's face turned crimson at what she just heard. She could feel the rapid beat of her heart, and the tingling that swept up the back of her neck and across her face as she stared back at Ezekiel was exhilarating. He was rubbing the back of his neck before cursing and tearing his gaze away from her.

She… didn't know how to respond to that. She didn't see that coming at all. It was a compliment, but obviously, he looked vexed with how he delivered it.

Tarah unknowingly bit her lower lip as she tried her best to suppress the smile forming on her face. It would've been awkward if he caught her smiling.
