Chapter 8

I throttled the engine to catch up with Jade, blaring a song we both like "Static Age" by Green Day, and when I did I played air guitar while riding my motorcycle kind of like a surfboard. Continuing down the road I passed Alex and for a second it looked like she was worried about me, I caught up to Jack and jumped onto the top of his truck, playing my real guitar along to the song, and from inside the truck, I heard Jack singing along. After a bit of doing that the song was over and I changed it to another song and plugged in my headphones, I wanted to have more fun, so I willed my bike over and jumped onto it, and started riding towards a mountain that was coming up on our right that made the road kind of like a canyon. Riding to the top of it I stopped at the peak of the mountain and took out a pair of binoculars, I saw Alex looking kind of worried and talking to someone over the radio, and I knew it was time. I jumped off the cliff and fell for a solid minute before I was twenty or so yards from the ground when I shifted, growing my wings to full size, and pretty much slingshotted forward, I chased after them and when I caught up to Alexandria I waved and mockingly blew a kiss at her before flapping my wings and continuing forward after Jack. I kept doing this kind of thing the rest of the day until we got to the hotel we arranged to rendezvous at with Dylan and Mark, and sure enough, they were waiting for us in the parking lot. I landed on top of the tank as Miguel pulled into the parking lot, and when we parked the tank on top, crushing it, of a mini cooper, they looked at us like we were idiots.

"What?? Never seen a tank crush a clown car?" I said smirking at the cooper, Miguel and JJ got out of the truck, and it was only now that I saw that Jay had two marks on his neck, like a vampire bite but not painful, and permanent, and I would've asked him if it was what I thought it was had a tiny something not interrupted me.

"Is that-" I said before getting punched in the gut then face, and when I stopped groaning I looked up to see Alex smirking at me, "What the fuck was that for?!"

"Fer scaring the shit outta me and making me worry you fuckwad."

"So, you were worried? Does that mean that you admit that you care about this shit for brains?" Dylan asked and Alexandria gave him a look, and if looks could kill that one did.

"No! Of course not, I was worried he would make me crash the fucking truck," She said and I looked over at Jack, and he looked hurt, but I knew we both had the same thought run through our heads 'Ouch, that stings.

"Whatever," I said and signaled for Jack to follow me, telling Jade on our way out of the parking lot to get everyone into the hotel room, and to not let Alex out of her sight. We walked down the street towards a bar that we had passed on our way over to the hotel, it was about a half-mile away, and we decided to go after we had parked in the parking lot. When we got to the bar we headed straight for the back and sat down in the booth, we never liked the seats at the bar, and the booths were always comfortable. The waiter swung by and took our drink orders, before leaving us to decide on food, when I heard the familiar tune of the ringtone I had for Jade's number on my phone. I didn't know whether I wanted to answer it or not so I gave the phone to Jack, who answered it in the most 'Jack' way possible.

"What the fuck fucking exploded, Jade?" He said, making me laugh, and apparently, the waiter as he brought us our drinks and asked me if I was going to wait for Jack to finish his call before ordering, I loudly hummed in Jack's general direction, and he punched me in the shoulder.

"If you order without me ordering, I'll punch your balls so hard you turn into a hermaphrodite," He said before going back onto the phone, making me laugh so hard I almost spit out my drink, the waiter said he'd come back in ten minutes or so and Jack handed me the phones saying that Jade needed to tell me something.

"Hey, Jade, what's goin' on?"

"Have you seen Alexandria anywhere?"

"No, you said you'd keep an eye on her though."

"Uhhhh I may or may not have been a little bit distracted."

"How?! Nothing distracts you...like ever!"

"Well, apparently Alex wanted to leave to go do something, I don't know or care what, and she recruited Nicki for help. Nicki walked towards me and-"

"I don't need the pg-13 details, Jade, just get to the god damned point."

"Well, through the power of seduction Nicki distracted me enough for Alex to get out of the hotel room, I haven't seen her since," She said and I set my drink down and moved the shades to look outside the bar, she wasn't in my line of sight so I wasn't worried.

"I'll see if I can find her, keep your eye out, and don't get seduced by Nicki again, or at least not until we get back home."

"You can say that when you-" She started and I hung up the phone, not wanting to continue the discussion any longer, I put my phone away and explained the situation to Jack, who looked just as confused as I was feeling.

"Why would she stalk us...again? Especially after saying that she doesn't care, that doesn't make any sense."

"Yep, werewolves don't make a lot of sense," I said as the waiter came back and asked us if we were ready to order, I ordered the beef hash, and Jack ordered a burger with fries. He left to go give our order to the chef, leaving us to listen to music and talk about our path back home.

"When we cross the New Mexican- Texan border, we drive for what, two and a half hours to get home?" Jack asked as I finished off my drink, I nodded my head and pictured our place in my head. Our family lives in a mansion, with a massive garage left of the house to hold as many cars as we wanted, and a gun range in the back to practice all kinds of weapons, it was out in the middle of nowhere, south of San Antonio, but it was close enough that it wasn't a massive journey to a grocery store, and had stable internet.

"Yeah, we're gonna need to park the tank in the back though, set up security around it too. Specifically an AA gun, and maybe connect it to the radar," I said and asked the waiter for another drink, which I received, and told Jack I was going to step outside for a minute. I got up and walked outside, I wanted to get some fresh air, and maybe see if I could find Alex. I climbed onto the top of the bar, jumped off, and shifted on my way down, extending my wings I flew forward at an upwards angle, gaining verticle velocity quickly, I flapped my wings and got higher and higher until I was about a couple hundred feet in the air. I held my position and started looking around the bar, and was given no such luck in finding her, I was tired of playing guessing games and I wanted to know why she was stalking us again. I nose-dived towards the ground and just before hitting the ground, I pulled up and flew forward again but much faster, flying circles around the bar I couldn't find her so I decided to call it a day. I landed back outside the bar and combed my hair back, looking around to see if I would get any last luck, and fortunately, I did. As I looked around I saw the same black wolf with electric blue eyes overlooking the bar and staring directly at me, I was gonna find out this time, I whistled for my motorcycle and she ran off in the opposite direction. 'Not gonna happen, Alex' I thought as I mounted my bike and chased after her, it didn't last long, however, she was very fast, even for a Were, and bounded out of my line of sight.

"FUCKING HELL!" I threw my bike as far as I could before summoning it back, I was angry, the two things I hated the most were being alone and not knowing something. I rode back to the bar and took my seat across from Jack, my food was there waiting for me and Jack looked like he knew I was angry.

"Didn't find her?"

"No, this is getting annoying man, I don't get it, she's playing two different sides of a coin and I don't know what to do about it," I said and started eating my food, Jack knew that I hated being clueless, and I could tell that he was still hurting from Alex's previous comments about the truck and her worrying. I heard the ringtone I used for anyone other than my family and looked at my phone to see Alex's number on it.

"What?"

"Don't chase me, Jake, you don't know why I'm watching you, but one day you will, and it will make sense," She said and hung up before I could get a word in, I was even more confused now 'What did that mean?' I thought and told Jake what she had said. He was about as clueless as I was and it pissed us both off. We finished our food and paid the bill before leaving the bar and heading for the hotel, I needed sleep and Jack needed a drink, so when we got to the hotel I fell onto the couch and used my jacket as a pillow. I saw Jack grabbing a beer from the mini-fridge, Nicki was asleep in Jade's arms, and JJ was passed out on the floor. Jade looked up to see that we had come back and tapped on her temple, 'Did you find her?' 'No, and we're both pissed because of it, I'm getting more and more clueless every time I try and get her to tell me what she's doing 'I'm sorry, Jake, do you think that she could be your-' 'If she is I run, I'm not gonna trust Lucifer on everything if she is and wants to mark what's hers, you gotta chase whatcha wanna catch' I said and cut the link. Turning on the TV I saw there was a news story covering a tank that had been stolen from the military and been used to cause property damage and kill several cops, I got Jack's attention and pointed it out to him, making him laugh and sit down in front of the couch to watch. Apparently, the military was tracking us via the GPS signal from the tank and was hot on our trail, Miguel heard this and walked outside saying that they wouldn't have that signal for long. After about twenty minutes he came back in saying we were good, and that he had found someone, Alex walked in and sat in the chair near the TV, and at this point, I was too tired to talk. I pulled on a comforter and fell asleep, waking up in hell, but not in my own plain, I was in front of Lucifer's castle, which meant that the big man wanted to talk to me 'Oh good' I thought as I walked towards the castle doors.
